Career Event
by kunal.bhatt
The career event was very informative about internships, resumes, and proper business etiquette. Through internships, one can properly advance to a higher position in the business world and also through experience. It was also discussed how effective the STARR Center is in helping Baruch students gain internships and even full time jobs. Writing a proper resume was also discussed and what you should include in your resume and what you should not. I also learned that the interview is the single most important thing when it comes to being hired. One must be professional and clairvoyant and be able to talk about oneself. Asking questions is also important because it shows the company that you are interested in expanding your knowledge about the company you wish to work for. Several other websites such as Vault, which is specialized for Baruch students, offers many internship opportunities whether it be related to Finance, Accounting, Marketing, or Economics. Overall, I thought the Career Event discussion was worthwhile because It taught me the ins and outs of networking, internships, full time jobs, interviews, and how to “sell” myself to the company.
