Freshman Monologue

by kevin.sanichara

Well I have to write a monologue and I’m really thinking what should I put down. Well I’m 17 years old and I really can’t believe I’m in college now. There are some similarities, but a lot more differences. For starters I can actually use my phone in class. Sometimes I still hide my phone under a desk or behind a book cause I still have that habit. I’m somewhat struggling in Math right now. I can’t really understand the teacher sometimes and it is very hard material to cover. Other than Math I’m pretty satisfied with all my other classes. Another difference is that I’m not just around boys in school anymore. What do I mean you might be asking? Well I went to an all-boys Catholic high school for 4 years. I attended Holy Cross High School in Flushing, Queens. Big differences, in college I’m surrounded by smarter and more mature people and its really diverse here, unlike my high school. Finally the workload is ridiculous at times. At least 2 days of the week I’m usually up till 2 a.m. doing Art or WebWork. I guess its more along the lines of time management. Well that’s college so far. Its hard and demanding, but still interesting and fun. College has things that can not only help my academic life, but my social life too. For starters I like comedy skits and movies, so I joined the Movie Makers club. I’m a business student who wants to be a stockbroker one day, and make lots of money. Now as I’m finishing my monologue there are some things you might not know about me. I’m Half-Guyanese and Half-Trinidadian, I love to play basketball, I want to be a DJ on the side, and I’m the kind of person who will help someone who is in need or try and make a situation better.
