“The Bitter Sea” – Charles Li.

by christie.chong

I thought the panel interview/presentation with Charles Li was a great idea. It gave us readers an opportunity to ask the author questions we had while reading the book. Mr. Li was able to answer the questions that some students had and it was cool that he answered questions that the students were stumbling about. Honestly, how great is it that you can actually meet the author of the book you read. I would love to have the same opportunity with Hemingway but we all know that would never happen -.- Even though the idea of meeting the author was exciting, there were some negative factors. First of all, most the classmates in our lc (LC 01) had a HUGE pysch test that during the seminar- panel presentation, everyone was studying while I was writing an English essay. Secondly, it was hard to understand what Charles Li and the other presenters were saying. There were times where Mr. Li didn’t talk into the microphone. Lastly, because the freshmen sitting on the balcony  didn’t pay attention, there were many side conversations and it was a bit roudy.  Overall, the idea of having the author speak to us was cool 🙂
