Whitney Museum

I never knew college students went on field trips but Im glad that we had one. I actually liked the trip to the Whitney Museum. It was interesting how Burchfield’s artwork was placed around the rooms. The paintings gave a time-line of his life; it represented how Burchfield matured artistically. For instance, viewers can tell by the evolution of his artworks- paintings. As he was younger, the meaning of the paintings were more simple and bold. However, as he aged, Burchfield puts more “meaning” into his works. For example, a lot of his paintings in the “Golden Years” shows signs of hope and Burchfield’s view of religion from nature.
What made this trip more special was that Burchfield’s grand-daughter was at the Whitney and she shared a cute memory that she had with her grandfather (Burchfield) with one of the paintings that was displayed. It was a great experience and fun field trip 🙂
