museum

ever since i was little i never really liked the class trips to the museum. even this visit to the Rubin museum of art didn’t really leave me with anything i could walk away from and be interested. i liked the layout of the museum and the setting resembled what it was about. the camera in the bottom floor was cool to look at. they had books in glass to look at. nothing really stood out to me from the museum but it was nice to look at the different things. if it wasn’t for the class, i would have never heard of this museum. it was a very different atmosphere than the other popular museums. it was a lot more smaller and spaced out.

Baruch so far has been interesting. i got to meet a lot of new people and learned that i have to stay on top of my work.  it is what i expected. i like the fact that unlike my high school your not required to stay in the building or else you get detention. you could step out at any point at Baruch.

my first semester at Baruch went pretty well. i mean, i could have definitely done better but i guess i have to get used to it. senior year i was lazy with everything and did the minimum amount of work, at Baruch, you have to put in your best effort. i hope that next semester i do a little better than i did this.

if i c0uld restart my first semester, i would definitely take more time in my work. i thought the grading system was the same as high school but its a little tougher. you can do enough to just pass but you have to put in an effort to get a good grade.

since i started Baruch, i think that Ive become a little more responsible. i always had the mentality that if i didn’t keep up with something, someone else will do it. but now i realized if you want something done, you have to do it yourself.

Career Workshop

What you think you learned at the Career Exploration workshop last week?

The career workshop talked about how to write a resume and how to act during an interview. overall i think we all knew this because it was something we were taught throughout high school. being explained how to act during an interview was common sense, but i did learn the correct format to a resume. it was useful because i was actually writing a resume for a job interview so it helped me out 🙂

Coming into college I was nervous about what to expect. Throughout high school, teachers constantly said you have to make sure on your own that your up to date on assignments and write down the notes you find important because teachers never write on the board. So far, I feel the classes are pretty much the same, you go and you learn. What I find different is the fact that you do have more freedom, your allowed to go out between classes unlike high school you would have to stay inside the building or else detention, even though most of us found our way around. One thing I need to get used to this year, is taking public transportation. I never was a fan of it. Ever since junior year I would wake up and drive myself to school and make it in five minutes. Sometimes I would wake up and decide not to go at all whether it was the weather or the fact that I just didn’t want to get up out of bed. I took advantage of it. This year i have a minimum hour commute and i hate it.
I come from a family that is very big on tradition and togetherness. If anyone of you guys were to come to my house at any given point of the day, I always have someone over. We have family dinners and parties countless times a year. To miss one of these, you would need to have a really good excuse. Sometimes I get annoyed of the fact people are always over, I still love them.
