Baruch Experience

Blog#3 – Baruch College

1. I think that for the most part Baruch has lived up to my expectations. I have enjoyed my experience here and i actually like it, i could see myself here for the next four years. I’m actually pretty excited to start taking classes that i want and am interested in.

2. I think that my first semester at Baruch went really well. I think it went a lot better than i expected.  I’ve been able to adjust to the school and get used to everything. I also have been doing way better in all my classes than i expected to.

3. I dont think that i would do anything differently. I’ve managed to do well for the most part in most of classes. I’ve learned that studying can get you really far, so if anything I’m pretty proud of myself.

4. I think that the one thing i really learned during this semester is time managements. Between work and school i’ve had to manage my time very carefully to make sure that i do well in school. So that’s definitely the biggest change.

career workshop

Blog#2 -Career workshop

By the time we went to career workshop i already had a resume, but she gave me a lot of pointers on how to fix it. I learned the basic professional layout of a resume as well as the important things to mention in a resume. What i also found helpful was that they gave us an idea about what to list on our resumes a college students. Besides the resume i also thought the interview pointers she talked about was very informative and helpful. Overall i think the whole workshop was something that was really t our advantage and provided us with a lot of useful information.

museum

i already posted my museum blog but here it is again..

Personally, I think museums are one of the most boring places on the surface of this planet, therefore this trip wasnt very inspiring. However the musuem was very beautiful. The staircase was amazing, I plan to build one just like it my house one day =]. Standing on the staircase, with the aromas from the cafe in the air, didnt really have any influential affect on me. I thought the cafe was very pretty none the less. It didnt really trigger any new ideas for me, i sort of felt like everything there probably had some sort of significant relevance to it but i was incapable of understanding that, so i really didnt feel like i belong there. It’s not that it made me feel comfertable, i just know that i couldnt appreciate it for what it really was , because it wasnt of much interest to me. Sorrry ! =/

Me, Me, & ME!

College is the one experience I have been waiting for my whole life. It’s the time for me to find who I am, who I want to be, and what I want to be remembered for. I have been anticipating this moment for a long time, and it’s an experience that  I want to explore to the fullest extent. I am in no way hesitant or nervous about embracing the years to come. We are quite frequently asked to define ourselves, however I have yet to have that defining moment in my life, that turning point, that has shaped me into who I am today. I’m hoping that, that life changing experience will take place during my college experience. However the person that I have evolved to be today is due to many elements. One particular element is the influence of my culture. I hail from a small, underdeveloped third world country in South Asia known as Bangladesh. It is a country where there are very sexist and anti feminist views present, and that is what has instilled this great motivation and determination in me. My ultimate goal in life would be to break away from the cultural stereotype that says men are the dominant sex and should be the ones to be eduacted and successful. Being that there are no brothers in my family, and I’m the older sibling, I have been able to take upon the responsibility of proving that women can be equallysuccessful. Till this day, the one characteristic that is most prevalent in me, is my drive and my motivation, and that’s what I plan on to use to help me successful in all my future ventures. 🙂

Assignment One.

So here we go…

1. I think that for the most part im a down to earth , friendly, and social person. I’m easy to get along with and im usually nice to everyone =] Academically i like to think that im smart for the most part. Or atleast i try to be. But more imporantly im super motivated and when i know i want to achieve something i stay dedicated to it.

2. My first concern would be just passng all my classes and doing well on all my exams. Maintaining a good GPA is SUPER important to me.

My second concern is my job, i work part time, so it can be a little overwhelming between my job and all the school work.

My third concern would be making sure that i keeep up with all the requirements as a freshmen, and that i dont fall behind.

3. I think, for the most part, Baruch is very similar to my high school, with the exception that its alot bigger. The only difference would be the freedom that comes along with the college experience and also the self dependency part, you pretty much have to do everything for yourself, there isnt really any authority spelling out for you, what yu need to do or not, its al pretty much up to you.

4. Im hoping that my first year will teach me how to be independent, and will also give me major time management skills. i think after my first year, ill just be alot better at things like multitasking and learning to deal with stressful situations.
