Title of Workshop: Rubin Museum of Art

Date: Friday Oct 15.2010

Time: 4:15-6:00

Summary of Workshop: The museum was abou the Himalayas. They had a lot of sculture on the deities of Hinduism and Buddism. They had information about how to make the sculptures and how to paint the picture. They talked about the different deities and their roles. They also talked about what the accessories and gestures meant.

Opinion: Personally I found the museum very interesting!! The deities that Himalayans believed in seemed similar to the ones that the Ancient Greeks use to believe in. The deities all represent different things. There is wrathful god who protects the Himalayans. I thought the most interesting was Durga. She is a female deity who is believed to protect the Himalayans.
