The Mishkin Gallery

Mishkin Gallery is the first workshop. There were many photographs which make me so enjoyable. The theme of these photographics is group identity. The employee of the Mishikin Gallery introduced about Gallery and explained many of the photograghics. Many photos were original to me, because I have never gotten in touch with these groups. It was a good workshop.

Academic Advisement Workshop

This is the first time I register classes by myself in Baruch. The adcademic advisement workshop is the most useful one for me, because I was very confuse about the class registration for the next semester. The academic conselor talked about how to plan classes. She told us that which classes we should choose in order to prepare for the major which we want to be. This workshop not only helps to plan the next semester but also the next few years.

Last class for freshmen seminar

Last Friday was the last day of Freshmen Seminar. It’s weird thinking we are no longer going to meet up together with Michelle. Freshmen Seminar was fun and helpful. But its nice to know that we get to have 2-3 hour break on Fridays now-WOOT!!!! We should still say “Hi” when ever we see each other.

Mishkin Gallery

The Mishkin Gallery was bery interesting. I was especially moved by the pictures of the Rowanda girls and the African children living in poverty. The Gallery focused on different types of social groups. Some were unfortunate and some were very happy. I thought the pictures of the Hippie family and the naked group were very amusing. The pictures taken by Andy Warhol was also very interesting. I always thought that Andy Warhol only did paintings. I am only used to picturing Andy Warhol with bright colors, but his black and white pictures are also very good.

Monologues

My monologue was about my experience at Baruch. I talked about how much I like Baruch and how in the beginning it was hard because I had to cope with not having my own room for a couple of month. My family and I had to stay a family friend’s house for a two months. My cousin, my brother and I had to sleep in the small living room. My brother slept in the sofa and my cousin and I both had a small mattress to sleep on. It was hard going to school living in those conditions. But fortunately, we moved to a three bedroom and we each have our own rooms.

Baruch experience

Is almost the end of the semester. Has to do loads of Papers and exams even though I already knew it. Times are so important in your college life that you will never find that out when you still in high school…………. It may seems is to rush to do all the stuff at the same time which it is, but once you adjust to it, you will be fine; but I still can’t do what I wanted to do. Well, I guess I still need some time to adjust my mind, since my life style is so…… speechless

UN visit

Visiting the United Nations is a great experience for me. The United Nations is an international organization whose stated aims are facilitating cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights, and achievement of world peace. The first impression I have on the UN is the UN is a beautiful place with multi-culture. From the gallery at the UN, I saw a lot of photos of different race/culture of people. Each people have their own backgrounds and stories, just like the UN, a melting hot pot with different kind of ingredients. Although the UN is an “international” organization, but I found out some of the clerks at the UN gift center can’t speak other languages except English. As an UN employer, each person should able to speak more than one language. Other than that, I strongly recommend the UN add more languages into its system as one of the official languages. Because I felt the UN should representing the world, not just 6 countries. That’s the first time I been to the UN, and I felt I didn’t have the chance to visit the whole UN even thought visiting part of the UN is great too. I will be back to the UN to visit more of it, so I can have a better understanding of other countries.

Career Workshop

I don’t know much about interview before this career workshop. The instructor gave us some tips during the workshop. For example, how to shake Hand at a job interview. Don’t squeeze the other person’s hand too tight but don’t offer them a weak or limp hand either. A firm handsake at the beginning of an intervew can make a good first impression. Those informations come from this career workshop are very important for our future.
