STARR workshop!

The workshop was pretty helpful overall. Except for those annoying guys who wouldn’t shut up and only said stupid things. But i liked that they gave you examples of the different types of resumes you could choose to do. I’ll probably reference back to those in the future when I apply for a job or an internship. I also liked that they went over EVERYTHING. From your resume to what clothes you should wear, what kind of handshake you need, what not to eat before you have an interview, etc. They went over every minute detail. So that was nice. I’ll probably pay them a visit when I go apply for an internship. So Analucia, tell them to be expecting me.

Wow i can get a job now!

Title says all though i shall explain it anyway. This workshop was the best of all those covered, and from my experiences of all museums i have been to, this workshop will be the best and most useful one that is covered. On that note, i add in that i like the fact that we had speakers talk about the job interview which is an extremely important step to obtaining any job in a high tier. I did like that very much, plus the slides made it easy to pay attention. They were short quick and straight to the point. The handouts given were even more effective for if we do forget anything we just need a quick glance to remind ourselves of what exactly we gleaned from this workshop. To end this blog, i say that was a great workshop and well worth the time spent in it.

STARR

I found the things that they talked about useful, since there’s really no crash course on how to act at a job interview and how to prepare for it.  It was kind of hard to pay attention because of the other people that were talking loudly, and also the fact that I was hungry (I get distracted when I’m hungry).  I feel like I got a lot out of the workshop, and the papers they handed out & the services the STARR center offer are probably going to prove useful sometime in the near future when I’m going to start job hunting.

Response to STARR Workshop

It’s unfortunate that other LCs didn’t take the STARR Workshop seriously because I found it to be one of the most helpful workshops I’ve sat through since starting Baruch. Especially in this economy, finding a job is nearly impossible without proper preparation. There were so many things I didn’t know about the job application process that I learned at the workshop, like sending the employer a thank-you note. Its reassuring to know that we have the resources of the STARR Center to help us be the best that we can when applying for a job.

2 the STARRs’ Workshop

Yeah, yeah, I know it’s a lame title…I’m bored xD

I believe that the second workshop is pretty helpful, considering STARR’s wide range of services. I definitely will find the mock interview helpful when the time comes, because I’m bad at those. I also never knew about the second type of resume nor the “thank you” note for post-interviews. The slideshow, I believe, could have gone a little bit slower so that I could read what it’s actually saying, but it’s not bad either ^^ No doubt, I will be using STARR in the future, especially when I’m about to graduate. Even now, counseling about future classes to take won’t hurt.

Reaction to the second workshop

I think the career enrichment workshop was somewhat helpful. I already knew what to except for interviews and how to write resumes but i like the flyers that were handed out. I think I have a better understanding of what the STARR Career Development Center can help me with after hearing them talk. I will definitely go there for career counseling because i have no idea what i want to do when i get out of college or even what to major or minor in.
