Workshop with teaching our schedules and courses

The workshop has been helpful too much even though it was such a longgggg process. But i do get how to pick my courses and stuff. It explains thoroughly and I’ve learned a lot about my general courses and the requirements and things about your major or your minor. I’m still very undecided about what I want but I will get through it. I hope to get an early schedule because I have work. If i get a bad schedule that means i’ll be jobless )=

Monologue

I don’t really know what a monologue is but i guess it is something about me so this is what i have written to say. My name is Maggie Liang and I am a freshman at Baruch. I came from Midwood High School and I am currently 18 right now. Life has not been so bad and neither has school. However, I am struggling in some classes but I am trying though. I am not an overachiever but I do not want to call myself an underachiever. I have to admit I was always slacking in school but I do try to keep myself up and not fail.
To be honest, life hasn’t been very interesting lately or maybe it’s just the fact that everything is better in the summer. Now that I have school and work it’s just different. I don’t see my friends everyday like i usually would but because of school and work its just once or twice a week now. But that doesn’t keep me from being antisocial or anything.
When i was younger, I used to be really shy and antisocial sort of. I can’t say I’ve completely gotten over it but it was better than before. For now, i can actually keep up a convo and actually talk a lot and a lot. Having social skills is a great thing and i hope to learn more of it. Now I knew why I was such a sad kid back then. It was because I wasn’t really much of a talker but that’s maybe why teachers liked me. I knew antisocial isnt the way to go and I will overcome that.
School is okay now and Im gonna say i will miss my block and hope to see them on my next semester classes!

Class Registration

I came to college knowing that we needed to pick our own classes during the semester and that it would be annoying and hectic.  I didn’t know that some of the classes would already be taken by upperclassmen.  That was a bummer.  But I learned how to register for spring classes and where to go to register.  In addition I also learned how to prepare for registration: What to do, where to go to find my classes, how to set up my list for my classes.  That workshop really helped me on how to register for classes for the spring semester.

Academic Advisement

Registering for classes is a completely new experience. It doesn’t help that we’re at the bottom of the chain and most of the interesting classes have been filled up already.

This workshop gave us information on how to register. We learned how to look for classes prior to registration and prepare a tentative schedule beforehand. It was a very informative and interactive session.

I prepared a schedule for myself and it took me, like, two hours to do so. I just hope none of the classes are taken by the time I get a chance to register.

Career Workshop

The last time I looked at my resume was about a year ago. Although, the rules to writing a resume hasn’t changed since then, I realized getting help from the internet isn’t always the best option.

A few things I learned from the workshop:

  1. Resumes should be one page long
  2. Knowing how to fold t-shirts isn’t really an accomplishment
  3. Be very specific about experiences but maintain brevity
  4. You don’t have to win a medal or some fancy certificates to prolong your Accomplishment category
  5. Restrain from fibbing

I think it’s time to update my resume – or not.

Identity

I’m going to be completely honest in this blog post – please understand that although my honesty may show irreverence, it is anything but.
I didn’t read The Bitter Sea. I was too busy being miserable and hot during the summer to read the book. However, I do know the gist of it.
Although, I don’t know Charles Li personally, he seemed very amiable. He really wanted to be there and tell his story of finding his identity and encourage the rest of us to do the same.

academic advisement workshop

Before attending this workshop, I was pretty confused about selecting courses and planning my schedule for Spring. Choosing from block schedules was a lot simpler, and required a lot less thinking. The workshop offered a lot of helpful information about where and how to register, and how to look for which classes to take. It made me realize that I must take registration seriously; I wouldn’t want to be stuck with a bad schedule. I must admit I didn’t remember everything from the workshop after a while, but luckily, I had friends who guided me. 🙂

Academic Advisement

This workshop i felt was the most useful because it mentioned and refreshed our memories on what classes to take. I kind of had an idea on what to take next semester and this workshop further sealed the deal. I dont think there is much to say about this, besides the fact that it was VERY useful. Registration for most of us is on the 23rd, so it was well timed. Overall, great workshop.

Dubs up.

Academic Advisement goodness

I pretty much already knew what classes I was planning to take. I guess it was helpful to go through the whole process again since this whole registration thing is new. The presentation showed us where to find out what classes we have to take and they also gave us a link to the Word Doc. file, so we have access to it anytime. That’s all I have to say…All I’m worried about is what teachers I’m going to have next semester. Oh boy.

Registration is coming up soon. Good luck guys and gals.

Academic Advisement

It helped me a lot, since i was a lot about what I should be taking and how I should proceed in my college career. I knew about the tier I, II, III, but I never knew about what the specifications were and how to register. Now I know, and hopefully will be able to avoid problems that I would certainly have gotten. We’ll see, since everything is always bound to change 🙂
