Monologues

Hello All,

Everyone did a great job presenting their monologues on Friday!

The next step is to write your monologue on the blogs.
Post the monologue that you have developed in your seminar, along with a self-potrait. Your portrait can be a photograph, an image, a cartoon, a drawing, or some other depiction of how you see yourself.

Due Date: October 16

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Tanya or myself.

Freshman Social

Hello Everyone,

I hope that you had the opportunity to go to the Freshman Social yesterday during club hours. If you went, blog about it and share your experience with your fellow classmates.

Tell us what you did at the social, what activities did you participate in, and if you made new friends.

I can’t wait to hear about it!

Kayla “Who do you think you are?”#

I think i am who i think i am. I am quiet and sensitive. I let others thoughts and opinions persuade me which is usually a bad idea. Meaning I usually put others in front of me especially family and friends. I give my everything to please others even if they hurt me. I am a very forgiving person and let things pass by me like the wind on a winter day. I use my manners even in an argument and i put myself in their positions to figure out why they do what they do. I could sometimes be judgemental but at the end who am i to judge those who dont judge me. I am the girl who is not from the new york streets born and raised in a suburban country way up in Florida. The girl who is very creative and thoughtful and puts nothing into something. Though I am sweet, nice and sensitive i am observant where when i see something i dont like i say something since there is freedom of speech. I take control of my own actions and it stresses me to see others use and hurt innocent people. When i say no the word means no and when i choice to do something not even a tornado or a fire can change my mind. Some say im demanding and controlling with an attitude but after all everyone has a little spice to them. Though these things are all what people think of me I am me and that is the person I think i am .

Information Session (September 17th)

I attended this information session held by a honor society (Sigma ____ ____ ) on September 17th, during the club hours. I do not remember the exact title of the session, but the president, deans and other administrators were a part of it. To give an overview of the session, each dean/administrator went over what their role is at Baruch College. Their goal is to give some general information to the freshman class as well as put a face to some of these names we hear. I personally enjoyed the presentation. It was very informative, but if I could improve it, I would cut down on the speeches and give more time for the freshman to mingle around with the staffs and faculties. Too bad I didn’t get a stamp for the Freshman Seminar class, but I did get free food (which is always a plus especially after 3 hours of morning classes).

If you guys see or hear about any upcoming interesting events, please feel free to share it with everyone else. Never know, maybe we will have a great time at these events.

“Who Do You Think You Are?”

The theme for this year’s Performing Diasporas: Identities in Motion project is “Who Do You Think You Are?” Reflect on the following four questions, and craft a response of no more than 500 words. Feel free to integrate media into your post!

a. Tell us who you think YOU are!

b. Share your top three concerns about your freshman year at Baruch College and explain why.

c. So far, what do you think will make your Baruch College experience different from your college experience?

d. How do you think your first year at Baruch College will change you?

Feel free to add in more details if you’d like.

Library Tour

Hello LC 20,

Now that everyone has had the opportunity to partake in the exploration of the Newman Library and learn more about the resources the library has to offer, tell us what was the most interesting/intriguing part of the library.

I have added a link to the website where you can take a virtual tour of the Newman Library.
