I think I’m the best of the best. Although people may perceive that as me being conceited, I think of it as confidence. Without confidence, you can’t go anywhere in life. If you’re the best then you can go anywhere life can take you but if you’re the best of the best, you can take your life wherever you choose to go. This is why I consider myself the best of the best; there are many people out there who are better at certain things than myself, but with the strength I have along with the support of my family and friends, there’s no stopping me from being where I want to be.
My top three concerns as a freshman at Baruch are to achieve the highest average I possibly can, be able to manage my college time along with my time for friends, and to either join or start a dance group. I want a high average for self-satisfaction as well as to make my parents proud since I didn’t do too well in high school. I don’t see my friends as much as I used to see them during high school or during the summer because of the way my schedule works out – having school Monday-Thursday followed by work Friday-Sunday. I used to be quite passionate about dancing but after a bad experience with a particular group of people, I stopped dancing for a while. I would very much like to get back to dancing, perhaps take classes so I can be a better dancer myself.
The Baruch experience is a lot different from my high school experience. In high school I barely went to class and almost never did any work. I can see that my old methods definitely won’t work in Baruch which is why I have to be able to motivate myself to keep up the hard work. This means not going out late at night every day anymore and not as much partying until I know I’m doing well in school. I think my first year of college will make me a lot more responsible than I once was, hopefully my ability to focus on schoolwork will be a lot better than what it used to be.
