Maxine – Post 3

The thing I was looking forward to most about college was the freedom — one of the reasons why I hated my high school was because they treated all of the students like prisoners. In that sense, it’s nice to be able to walk around Baruch as a free, independent adult. I also hated that a lot of my peers essentially acted like wild animals — the people that go to Baruch seem to actually care about school…they don’t just show up because they have to.

Overall, my first semester went okay. The classes weren’t overly challenging — at least, not in comparison to how challenging they will be in the future. If I could do things over — I definitely wouldn’t have procrastinated as much! I was able to pull off doing things last minute (like that damn 8 page research paper for English), but it definitely wasn’t fun, and I am sleep deprived most of the time. I think I need to brush off the last remnants of senioritis that I’ve carried over from highschool.

Over this semester, I’ve definitely grown more independent — how well you do depends on what you do, and not on what the teacher does. I’ve also grown to be a bit more social — I am very shy normally, but I think I’ve learned to open up a bit. I think I’m also a little wiser, in the sense that I know exactly what college is now, and of what’s expected of me.

And yeeeaaah…that’s pretty much it. 😛
