We went to the discussion panel, Adam, Nadya, and myself, even though no one was there to make sure we went. And I’m kind of glad we went. Charles and the rest of the panel told us their personal stories of feeling “foreign” in a place or like and outsider. Honestly it was a huge bore and the speakers had no idea of how to tell a story and keep their audience interested. They droned on and on about the things they went through while the majority of the audience, including myself, quickly lost interest and began to wish that we hadn’t gone.
We could see that while each member of the panel was talking the others were greatly bored and empathized with us because we had to listen to them drone on about the “hardships” they had to endure and how it made them the person they are today. We knew everyone’s story was more or less bullshit besides for Li’s who actually went through some intense hardship.
In the end, we all wished we hd skipped the lecture, it was truly a waste of time and even made us late for our next class, which our professor did not appreciate. This lecture/discusion panel was a failure in my opinion.
