First semester at baruch. It was ok. My LC is pretty chill so thats good. But, the thing i like least is how expensive everything is. Its all good though. I dont know if im coming back next year. I might transfer somewhere with a campus. I really like the city but I want a more college lifestyle. I hate not having all my friends from home here but, I have made a couple new cool friends.  I might go upstate somewhere, gotta stay SUNY plus all my friends are up there. Except my one friend he goes to school in connecticut. Don’t think I could go all the way there though. Rather be upstate. Cortland maybe or New Paltz maybe somewhere further so I can be closer to syracuse ithaca and genesseo. Maybe ill apply to ithaca. Who knows? Baruch is alright though if i get alot of money between now and next year i’ll stay here.

My First Semester At Baruch and My Last Blog PostM

It’s 9:44 a.m in the morning and I just woke up and found out from a friend that I don’t have to go to English class this week, so I’m in kind of a good mood. This is my last post, so here it goes. This is for you Clemente and for you guys at LC 26. :]

My first semester at Baruch has been truly amazing. Once my friend said she likes Baruch because it gives us the chance to make new friends while also allowing us to stay in touch with many of the people we became friends with in high school. This is true for me as well, I’ve met many new people and new friends. Some of you are reading this blog right now. To be honest, I consider all the people in LC 26 my friends. I think we were extremely lucky to have such a wide variety of personalities that always kept class interesting, like Jack’s questioning the legal standpoint of any far fetched situation he found himself in or David’s spot on impersonation of that one substitute we had. Of course, you can’t forget Clemente whose been extremely helpful in Freshmen Seminar. Especially since if he didn’t have us go to those career and academic workshops a significant amount of us would be still have that part blank on that orange sheet of paper we got some undetermined amount of time ago. I forget because I just found it underneath a pile of menus and old English papers.

College has also presented a fair amount of adventures for me. The least of which was supposed to be a short 30 minute walk to my dorm that turned into a 2 and a half hour trek through lower Manhattan. I’m pretty sure I got turned around near NYU or something, I probably should have asked for directions but unfortunately men don’t ask for directions. But perhaps the biggest adventure was probably going through Pre-Cal with you guys at 10:45 a.m. Suffice to say, some of us just didn’t make it :/

Now the real challenge is the next semester and scheduling new classes. Trust me on this, I’m the guy who still has one stop on his record. -_- Despite wherever our new schedules take us, I hope we all stay in touch. A simple head nod will do as we pass in the hallways or even a nice “Hey Christian!” to which I will wholeheartedly respond “Hey!…..guy/girl :D” I don’t know if you can actually insert smileys in real life conversation but I sure will try.

I guess this is time to wrap this up. But let’s reminisce over our favorite LC26 moments. Remember that one time (insert story here) and that other time when (insert story here)! Yo, great times, great times. Oh yea there was that one time we went to the movie and dinner, that was pretty chill as well. Alright time to get off because I still have to go to the Rubin Museum today before Freshmen Seminar (I won’t lie to you Clemente I’m cutting it really close here lol). Hope you enjoyed my last blog post here at Live@Baruch. For those who read all the way to the end, congratulations! You should get a cookie. Find me in class or the hallway and ask me for a cookie, but just to make sure you really read all the way through I will ask you what I talked about in the sixth paragraph. Hint: It’s a trick question. Alright xoxox, Gossip Girl 😮

P.S. You should all do yourself a favor and go to Fast and Fresh near the 6 train station. Best chocolate milkshakes ever. Don’t get strawberry, it taste like ass.

My first semester at Baruch

I can’t believe my first semester of college is basically over! When I enrolled in Baruch College, I honestly didn’t expect too much. I thought it would be just like high school, with the exception of the long commute. However, I did expect the work to be much harder, which was in a way sort of true. I mean, it wasn’t like I was overwhelmed with work, but it just felt like I had more of a responsibility to do well and study in college, since I’m paying for it! I studied pretty hard in high school, so i didn’t find it extremely difficult to study now as a college student, but it was pretty difficult to keep up with the textbook readings and the syllabus. I don’t think I would really do anything too different if i was able to re-do this semester, maybe just try harder to keep up with the reading. I’m still not completely sure if Baruch is the right college for me, but one thing that I’m sure of is that I don’t regret coming here. I met many many many awesome nice people, which I really didn’t expect! I’m glad that I had everyone in LC26 and Clemente to help me in my transition from high school to college!! I had a great first semester at Baruch, despite some of the bad professors I ended up with.

reflections of first semester

wow i still feel like i just started college and already the first semester is over. the experience i had at baruch was very frustrating to the point where i wanted to quit several times. i came into this school year with some bad habits (not studying at all) and it had a negative effect on my grades. i know that i didnt do very good this semester and im fine with that because now i know what to expect and how to prepare for the next semester. my main problem during my first semester was i had too many distractions at home, pulling me away from my school work. i decided that i will move to new jersey with my aunt so that i can focus on school without a lot of distractions. i certainly changed since i started baruch, especially after doing so bad this first semester. i have grown more responsible and stopped being lazy. i know my next semester will be better than my first and i am prepared to make it happen.

My Overall OutLook

So the question is what do I think about my first semester of college?, Well  definitely   slacked, didn’t put in a lot  of effort, got distracted with making money, and let my grades slip. Its pretty challenging for me since im not giving it my all , but when I focus I can get things done. As of the teachers , most of them are cool, I have a couple I can be better off with out but thats life and i cant blame them for what I do . Ive realized its all about what I put into it. Ill do better next time

My presentation

I guess this is pretty late but it has to be done . My presentation was alright it was extemporaneous to begin with , and it was a little blunt. But it was alright I guess, Nothing really special about it

The Finale

The last post, kind of strange but Baruch hasn’t fulfilled my needs, but that’s because I don’t know what my needs are. These next few years the the ones that count the most and I have no idea how to approach them. The easiest thing that I could do is, do it. Get it over with, enjoy it for what it is. It doesn’t have to be like American Pie, because it isn’t going to be but it’s college. I’ll admit, I had high expectations for college in general and I had low expectations for Baruch because I’ve lived in the city my whole life and I know how it was going to be. It’s exceeded my expectations in terms of work load, socially, no. But I’m sure as time goes on, so will everything else. This first semester I think I did well not as good as high school because the grading is harder but, this is the beginning.

If I could do it over again, I would definitely not procrastinate and study for the exams because overall, I haven’t been.

As a person, haven’t changed significantly, but I’m starting to see the path I want to take. I know what I have to do, just not sure how to do it yet. Thanks Clemente and LC. Back to you!

ehh semester is almost over!

I entered Baruch having very little expectations. I knew it was going to be completely different than high school but i was in for a surprise. I knew it was different but i didn’t think it would be this different. The environment at Baruch seems very business orientated (hence it being a great business school LOL). I felt like everyone came to school than left and that’s it. As i started to get more involved i realized there was more to that. I have come to meet great people and i am hoping to stay close with them throughout college and even after. My experience at Baruch has been OK so far. I know that there is more for me to explore i just haven’t gotten there as of yet. It seems like high school times with the just going to class and going home. At first i didn’t like going to Baruch but its starting to rub off on me.

My first semester seems like i did ok. I was hoping to do better but who knows. If i could do it allagain only thing i would change is my study habits and probably attend more events. Now that the semester is almost over i have a better idea of what to expect next semester. I am hoping to change my bad habits of procrastinating but who knows we will see.

Definitely glad i joined an LC made it easier to meet people and it was a great bonding experience 🙂

LC 26 ROCKS!!!!!! LOL 😀

Baruch Has Been Fun…

I would say that Baruch has lived up to my expectations in the class room. The teachers (for the most part) have been accommodating, accepting, and sensitive to all issues, and have been gre conveying at at the topics so that i could understand them. On the other hand, the social life outside of baruch has been sub par. It definatly feels like high school with harder classes, and more work, but less fun. I hope this is just freshman trouble and it improves soon!

Thanks for a great freshman seminar Clemente!

No more blogs!

So this is my last blog post….here goes nothing

So baruch college feels a lot like high school, with a few changes. I like how I’m not always half asleep now because of my later schedule compared to high school. I actually find that college is easier than high school. With all these breaks and free time, i actually found time to study. Since i am typing this in clemente’s class and people are yelling law jargon left and right, I cannot think of anything else to type onto this blog. Goodbye blogs@baruch
