An Advertisement for Me

Who am I? It’s a question that we always ask ourselves, not just when doing a mandatory blog post. How we see ourselves is often boiled down to our experiences and choices. A big part of it is also how we interact with others. If Sociology has taught me anything, it’s that humans are defined by their interpersonal relationships; that and high schools in Kansas are pretty bad. Well for the sake of you Clemente, here I go.

My name is Christian Torre, I was born and raised in Queens. I still believe Queens is the best borough, followed by Brooklyn, the Bronx and …Staten Island (ew). I’m an openly social person, though I definitely wasn’t always that way. College for me is radically different from what I’m use to. Through out elementary, middle and high school, the student body had been relatively small. For me, it made making close friends easier since you saw a lot of the same people day in and day out. Coming to Baruch, I see that I’m one in a student body that is in the thousands. It’s really easy to get lost in the shuffle if you don’t put yourself out there and meet people. So far it’s been a good experience, lucky for me the people in my LC are really cool (shout out to LC26!)

So don’t hesitate to talk to me, I can strike up a conversation out of nowhere, even if it’s about the most random of topics. Don’t freak out if I act a little strange, just means I’m comfortable with you :]. If you get to know me, I can be one of the funniest guys you’ve ever met. I’m really into movies, television (Pretty Little Liars, Burn Notice, Greek) and sports. I hope to learn a lot in college as I get to know you guys, but I’m pretty sure we’ve all learned a lot already like..

Math: TI-89 calculators are essential…and everyone is as clueless about WebWorks as everyone else.
Sociology: 2nd graders in Japan and Germany could outsmart us
Public Administration: Sneak and Peak is pretty complicated, and marrying 90 year old women is a sure fire way to get rich

Law: Never get involved with a suicidal lady’s family

Well I hope that’s enough Clemente. I really want to win the cash prize for most blog posts (I’m still assuming that’s what the prize is.)

About Christian Torre

I'm a currently an upper junior at Baruch pursuing a double major in Political Science and Philosophy. Aside from a full class schedule I'm the President and varsity debaters of the Debate Team at Baruch and teach debate to middle schoolers around the Tri-State area. When I have free time I play basketball, head to the gym or watch Netflix (quickly becoming a favorite past-time for our generation). During the summer and spring seasons I venture in the outdoors, usually going hiking, river-rafting or swimming. Other hobbies include expanding my taste and knowledge of movies and reading books on political theory and philosophy. I also greatly enjoy venturing around the city and finding new restaurants to eat and places to explore.
