3rd Blog

My first semester of college has been great.  Not only was I in the greatest city in the world almost every day for the better part of three months, I made a lot of great friends while I was here!  College turned out to be very much what I expected: being on your own, a lot of work, cool professors who didn’t give a shit as long as you did your work, etc.  I feel as though I’m finally a part of the world and I’m no longer sheltered behind school.  I am a little disappointed in some of my classes because they were not very interesting and I found myself falling asleep in a lot of them.  But I suppose that’s to be expected because at the end of the day, it’s still school.

I really wouldn’t change much about this last first semester.  I had some pretty wonderful things happen both at school and in my social life so there’s really no complaints here.  Perhaps, I should have done a little more of my readings and studied a little more.  What can I say?  I still have a few instances of senior-itis I’ve yet to shake.  This Freshman seminar class has been fun because I’ve been able to spend time with my friends and make some new ones (as corny as that sounds, it’s true).  The day we did those little skits in the front of the class was hysterical!! =D

How have I changed?  Not much really.  I’m definitely more mature than I was the beginning of the semester and I believe I’ve taken on more responsibility.  But all in all, I’m still the same old Kate.

It’s been fun! Peace!!!

Monologue Post(very belated)

Hello, my name is Kate although until very recently I went by Katherine.  Of course, I am still the same person, however, I feel as though Kate is the more outgoing, friendly, and less-reserved side of my personality.  So I felt that with the coming of college and the enormous changes my life was about to undergo, I decided to give “Kate” her much-needed time in the spotlight for a while.  As stupid as this may sound, I really felt the name would only help with my transition to Baruch and as it turns out, I was right.

I identify myself as a musician as music has been a part of my life for 14 years.  Learning how to read music coincided with my learning how to read English so I can barely even call it a second language.  With both the piano and the clarinet, music has provided me with an outlet, an escape, whatever you’d like to call it…It is an irreplaceable piece of my life and I couldn’t imagine a world without it.  Recently, I even tattooed myself with my favorite piece as a way to show my appreciation for music.

I am also very family-oriented.  All 36 of them mean the world to me.  Even the family members that I don’t see for a while are so important to me and the thought of losing any single one of them terrifies me to death.

My personal motto: “Never regret something that once made you smile.”

Haha. I like to eat, sleep, and stud…. No that’s it. Also, I like to play computer games such as Starcraft, and Warcraft, but I can’t play any more because of toooo much things to do at college. I live in Queens, and I take  an hour and half to come to Baruch. I’m struggling with my classes because I didn’t know that I have to do so much works and do my self. I need to study harder. I like to speak, not reading. And i used to play bowling and i was at varcity bowling team at by old High school. Lastly, I miss my high school.

Monologue

As I say,

Im from Korea.

Everyone thinks Korea is very dangerous, but it is not true.

Unfortunately, North and South Kroea(s) are still at war, but nothing happens.

When i went to the highschool in NewYork, and met friends.

they asked me that isnt korea dangerous place. i usually said, “it is ,so that’s why im here. :D”

they laugh and i laugh. we laughed.

However, actually, Korea is very safe place because we are not fighting now. lol

Anyways, I am very proud of my country when i just came to New York because everyone has at least one little Korea!

Everyone has cell phone, right? If this cell phon has a brand of ‘LG’ or ‘SAMSUNG’ is Korean brand.

It is very popular in US, so i was very amazed.

Blog #2

Hi my name is Mun Kug Joo

i know it’s late to post up blog #2 but i am still doing it, because I have to pass this class 🙁

I am freshmen in Baruch College, and I graduated from Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, which is located in Bayside, Queens. I played lacrosse in school, which made my life changed into athlete. I love to play any sports. Also English is my second language, which makes me little hard to study in America. But I’m appreciating that I have came to United States. I feel very proud of myself when I could help someone with anything that I could handle, such as helping people who just came to United States with English.

Also I love to sleep these days, because I couldn’t sleep these days, spending time on studying. I really didn’t know college is this hard. But I’m giving my best shots, actually not… but still… I will try my best later on. LOL

I came from South Korea, Not NORTH KOREA!! I came to United States about 6 years ago. I thought United States was really good place, just like hollywood movies, like long islands view. But as soon as I got off from plane in JFK, I saw all the garbages around airport and it was just disgusting. But I’m getting use to New York LOL It’s my second hometown. I love New York now. 🙂

Blog 2: Monologue

Hello, my name is Younhee Choi, born on February 14 in South Korea. I moved to the states when I was young and lived in the Bronx ever since. Our family was a family of 4 until my sister was born on 2004; we became a family of 5 making myself a middle child between an older brother, and a baby sister. I personally hate rainy days.

On rainy days, it just makes you to be melancholy. I hate when it rains and thunders. I am also afraid when it thunders and when there are crazy noises coming from the sky. Watching thunder spark outside is scary but in some way, it seems to refresh my mind. I like to be alone at home, doesn’t like to be disturbed by my baby sister, who is very annoying. I like to be with friends but I like to rest at home and wouldn’t want anyone to bother me while I’m resting, filling up some energy.

Blog 2 Monologue

My name is Tom Erikson and although i consider myself a one man wolf pack until i met everyone heres my real monologue. I am currently a student at Baruch in New York City. I have a twin brother and two older brothers. I tend to consider myself a hard worker but some say i dont give myself enough credit (which i dont cause i always think that i could have done better, no matter what it is- whether in sports or in school.) Especially with school i get a little too crazy about grades and i take it a little too serious sometimes i think. i enjoy running i ran four years on the cross country team in high school but what i really love to do is snowboarding. As a career i would love to work for Burton one day and fulfill my dream. Once the fall season comes i just get so anxious for winter. In a way i relate snowboarding to how i live my life as well as my personality. When im on the board riding down the mountain i dont have a care in the world, it feels like i have total control and total freedom all around me at the same time, and it feels so good. Its about living life to the fullest and even though im in control i shouldnt be afraid to do anything.

Chris Ambrosio

Good Morning,

My name is Chris Ambrosio and I’m a freshman here at Baruch College. I am 100% Italian with my roots tracing back to Naples and Sicily. I am fascinated with politics and fancy myself a staunch conservative. I enjoy discussing and debating people on current events both domestic and abroad. I’ve developed a personal philosophy on success, which I’ve dubbed the “holy trinity”. The key to success is: a close shave, a crisp collar, and a stiff drink. Looking like you know what you’re doing in 90% of the battle.  I would describe myself as a confident, although sometimes too confident, guy who doesn’t like to take no for an answer. When it comes to family and friends I try to be as helpful as possible. The most influential person in my life is my father because he taught me right from wrong, and what it is to be a man. Though random, I fear both clowns and totalitarianism.  The three things that make me most happy are seeing that my loved ones are happy, the Yankees winning, and just plain having a good time with my friends. The thing most important to me is my family’s well being and happiness because without my family, I wouldn’t be where I am today. School has been going pretty well for me so far. I’ve been able to keep up with all my assignments and haven’t had too much trouble understanding the material being taught to me.  Right now the biggest challenge I’m faced with at Baruch is trying not to get too bored and restless in classes in which I already know what is being taught. Lastly, the thing I enjoy most about the college environment is the amount of freedom we have. I very much enjoy being accountable to only myself and not having the administration breathing down my neck with every decision I make.
