Hi, my name is Michael Sung. I have many things that i like such as working out, cars, dancing, foood, money, animals, and girls. I don’t like to be average in anything including sports, status or skill. I set high standards for myself and do my best when it comes to tasks or activites. I strive to be on top always. I can be shy when it comes to people i do not know, however i am a very loud, obnoxious, and funny person when i around my friends or when i am around people i know. I enjoy having a good time with friends and i like exploring new things. I’m always down to go out and do something new and participate in fun activites with my friends. I just can’t stand staying at home, doing nothing while sitting in front of my computer all day. The feeling of being unproductive is something i do not enjoy and therefore, i like try to learn as much as possible. Many things make me happy, like when i’m stress-free and do not have a long, dreadful to-do list, such as piles of homework. The one thing i hate the most is writing long papers for school and i would rather do something else. I love the feeling of self-accomplishment whether it’s a short or long term goal because i consider myself to be diligent. I love my obnoxiously red car because i am able to drive anywhere i want, especially to the beach with my friends. I love cooler weather, anywhere around 60-70 degrees F. I also enjoy rainy weather and it tends to make me feel calm, relaxed, and happy. I absolutely love sleeping. Everynight i get atleast 8-9 hours of sleep including school nights. However, i tend to get around 12-15 hours of sleep when i am left at peace. I enjoy listening to music and have a wide range of taste. I know a good song when i hear it.

Chill, laid back.

Post the monologue you’ve developed in your seminar, along with a self-portrait (which can be a photograph, an image, a cartoon, a drawing, or some other depiction of how you see yourself).

Also, feel free to post as many voluntary posts as you like such as cheap eats around Baruch, any new club you may have joined, concerns etc.

Enjoy!

“Who do you think you are?”

I think I am a smart, determined kid. I am a major music junkie.  I love social media: Twitter, Facebook. My top 3 concerns for this year are my grades, finding an internship, and trying to chose an academic focus. I am concerned about these things because I don’t want to waste valuable time and I would like to get a good job that I enjoy in the future. My Baruch experience is different from my high school experience in that I am surrounded by a ton of people that I dont know of different backgrounds. Moreover, I am a commuter so I spend a lot of time walking. Particularly, I am walking around NYC, the coolest city in the world. Thus, I think I’m getting a better depiction of my future at Baruch than I was getting in high school. Additionally, I enjoy the privilege that I can make my own schedule and decide how early or how late I start my day. I think my first year at college will make me more independent and responsible.

my 1st Blog:)

hey guys im rhonda ( on the attendence is my chinese name, chinglui). i came from Hong Kong two years ago then went straight to Francis Lewis High School for junior year. im now dorming in 100Ludlow, enjoying the freedom!
the top concerns about my freshman year at Baruch will be the follow:
1. i am still wondering about the esims, like how can we register classes for our next semester.. what class should i take in order not to waste time…
2. a lot of readings given by most of my classes take me forever to read them everyday!! for me, as kind of an ESL student, i need spending a lot of time to check those vocabulary in the dictionary (well, online ofcourse).. i have no idea will i catch up the class or not if more works are given…
3. i can only think of two at this moment…
sure my baruch experience is way different from my high school experience. we dont have to rush to class in 5mins in between the periods, we only have 4 school days per week:):), we dont have to copy notes in classes but print out the slides that professors gonna use in class…. it just gives us more freedom!!
i guess after my freshman year has finished, my communication skills could be improve a lot because we have presentations later on and we take this class which help us get used to our school life in baruch more faster. lets see if i really do….

BLOG NUMBER 1

hi. My name is Shi Yuan but i am more well know as Stan. I am a chinese american and i graduated bronx high school of science.

i had alot of concerns about college but even more relief. bronx science was hell. my biggest concern was balancing school work and studying with a job and job work, i work 4 days a week and go to school 4 days a week . ant\other concern is my  newly gained freedom from college. taking public transportation and not being late is also a concern to me because i used to take a school bus to school.

i love the different type of classes in college. in high school, the short, boring  and dull. the work is also long and tedious. in college , there is less work but you are expect to study and do the work.

i hope baruch college will help me gain business edge i need to further progress the business i currently created with my cousins .

At this early stage in my life, it is hard to really say who I think I am, but here’s what I’ve come up with. I’m a freshman in college, living on the lower east side, getting used to life on his own. I’ve always been very close to my family and friends so being away from home is very different. I’m also one of those guys who has always been in to sports from a young age. I am currently trying to pursue my love for sports, here at baruch, by trying out for the baseball and basketball teams.

Like everyone starting college, I have some concerns about my freshman year here at baruch. The major concern I have is getting rid of my habit of procrastinating. Being alone is contributing further to that problem because being by myself I have no one to push me to do my work. All throughout high school I had problems with missing assignments because of pure laziness and now I have to work at getting rid of that problem.
College is already proving to be very different than high school. In college, you are on your own, no teachers to nag you for your work, no one to make sure you are doing what you are supposed to be doing. You are forced to grow up really quickly and become a responsible adult. This is a hard adjustment to make, but there are also plenty of adjustments that I can get used to. Waking up at 10 o’clock every day, no friday classes, two or three classes a day. The schedule is a huge advantage of college. Being in Manhattan is also something I enjoy a lot. From a young age I was always intrigued by the great city and now having the opportunity to live here for four years is great.

My first year at baruch will definitely change me a lot, but I’m not exactly sure how yet. I look to figure this out over my first year here. But anyways, I wish all my fellow classmates luck in their first year and I look forward to the great times we will share in these four years here at baruch.

“Who do i think i am?” I came from China with my family 7 years ago. Right when i came here, i knew little to no english at all.  I went to Manhattan Center for Science& Mathematics for high school, which is located in upper east side. I had always complained about that school name, it’s deceiving because it’s nowhere near the center of manhattan. I would say most of my friends think im shy, but there is the boldness inside me. It’s hard for me to get a conversation going when i meet somebody for the first time. It’s rather hard for me to make new friends. I think the problem is that people think i am unapproachable, and i dont take the initiation.

Problems that concerned me is the workload. Papers that are 4 or 5 pages long that are due at the end of each month always get me worried. I am bad at writing, if this blog takes me 30min to finish then how long is the paper gonna take? I also dont like to read, which does jeopardize my performance in school. Im also trying to get rid of my shy and passive me. Even though baruch is a commute school, coming to school for jus classes is just gonna make the 4 years long and dull. I want to enjoy my stay in baruch and make the most out of it.

I am an 18 year old Lebanese-American who just wants freedom in her life ! I come from a very Lebanese family and my parents expect me to be only “Lebanese” and do not believe that both cultures can mix. Dont get me wrong I love the Lebanese culture but I mean I’m American too ! I’m confused as to where I want to go and what I want to be in the future. I’m still getting my life together but I know I will be successful in whatever it is I do because I am a smart girl and I put my all in everything I do. I love belly dancing and dancing in general-its how I get all my stress out.

I don’t really have any concerns for my first year at Baruch because I’m pretty good with time management and handling all the work ( I had a lot of work in high school). My only concern is getting through it while living at home 😛

I also don’t think Baruch will really change my personality but it will make me smarter…we go to college to learn right ? 🙂 😉

Who am i?

I am freshman in Baruch College and i graduated from Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, which is located in Queens. I think I’m very typical asian student. I don’t really talk and participate, you could say shy. But I’m trying to change my personality to outgoing. I really do procrastinate all the works till last. Therefore I have hard time with all the works, but I will try to finish my works earlier this time. Except this blog thing…. And I love to play sports especially team-sports. I would like to join lacrosse team in baruch if there is one. Also I really don’t like to be compared with others, so I like to be different from others.

I think college is different from high school especially works. The amount of works is really a lot compared with high school’s works. Also how professors teach is really different from high school. In my high school, all teachers give notes for everything, but in college, I have to read all the textbooks and memorize the textbooks, which i really hate. But I will learn the way of studying and surviving in college in freshman year.

As I said before, I think my first year of baruch college will change a lot. But I will try to change my personality first and change rest of things that I need to change to fit in college life.

I AM

Who am I? My name is Younhee. I was born on February in South Korea. I currently live in the Bronx with my parents and two siblings; one big brother and one first grader sister. I graduated from Marble Hill high school of International Studies, an international school just like Baruch College, located in Riverdale. I am a lazy girl who likes to eat and sleep. I like chatting with my friends and meeting new people. I always had an interest in photography. I like to keep what I saw as a still cut so that it can last forever with me. I like to be unique and creative; be different from everyone.

One big concern about my freshman year at Baruch College is the amount of work I need to do in certain amount of time. I did have lots of works in high school, but college seems to be worst. i would love college if there were no work to be done, but….. That would never happen……! How sad…

I think everything is different from my high school experience. The size of the school, students, and professors, the amount of work given, different schedules and etc. I think it’s going to give me more stress.
