  2. What I really like about Baruch so far is :
First, I really like the campus, especially the library building and the computer lab. The library tour that Romi gave us was very useful, as I discover placed that I didn’t know of ( like the study rooms or the 2nd floor printing room, which is by far less crowed). I love the psychology class, because the teacher makes it so interesting. I am actually excited before going to this class, and I look forward to learn a lot! I also met very nice people here at Baruch, and I think that we are going to have a great year.
However, there are a fews things I don’t like about Baruch: First , the non-working escalators. I live up on the fourth floor, and when I go up and down the stairs at Baruch all day, I don’t even want to go home. I would almost prefer to sleep on the stairway that to go back to my apartment. My friends that are at Baruch don’t even want to come see me anymore because they already go up the stairs all day ! 🙂
And most of all, I really hate my music class. I don’t like to criticize teachers or classes, but this one really is bad … We spend almost the entire class talking about anything but music : Korean names, russian language, vacation in Prague,” how bad capitalism” is… Today the teacher said that the book was imperialistic because the people who wrote it are “the same people that think that white people have a normal skin colour whereas black people don’t ” . i think it’s unbelievable to hear that coming from a teacher, especially since he isn’t a political science teacher ! Then, for the last ten minutes or so, we finally start talking about music but it is rather unclear. I played the piano and learnt music theory for 7 years and it looks all useless to me. What the teacher says is so unclear ! It really makes me sick to know that to pay for a class like that, I have a loan that will take me 8 years to pay back.
Anyway, except those two issues, I really like Baruch and the people there, and I hope we are going to have a great year together !

  3. So far in Baruch it seems that the professors are trying, in most cases, to make sure that the students have a connection to the course and that they understand the work. The work itself isn’t too bad and is time consuming but that shouldn’t be a problem as I adjust to the new school. I don’t know too many people who came to Baruch and since I’m not dorming its not exactly the easiest task meeting new people but I’m sure in a few weeks this won’t be a problem. Overall I’m happy I went to Baruch and I think as I adapt to the school everything will fall into place.

  4. So far the thing I like most at Baruch is the buildings. They are so big and its just fun to walk around in and see what everyone else is doing. I also like the time schedule I have. I love going in at 10 or 11 in the morning and not having to wake up so early.
The things I dislike is the travel to get there and the fact that the dorms are 20 minutes away! It would be easier if they were ON campus. Another thing I dislike about Baruch is the time we get to study for a class. I wish it were more like High School in that aspect. If we had more study time and more time to learn each subject I think it would be a lot easier!
Baruch is a great college and I’m sure I will get used to all its faults soon enough but for right now I’m still getting used to it. 🙁

  5. Baruch Life so far is going well, school consumes most of my day now if im not in class then im probably doing some type of school work but overall it’s not that hard. Some of the subjects I dislike are music, philosophy and english I don’t really feel like im learning anything in those classes. My favorite class would have to be psychology I find it to be very interesting. I would like to be more involved maybe join some club or student organization but im not sure which one exactly. I think that being involved will make it easier to meet new people because iv’e observed that everyone just seems busy doing there own thing. Overall Baruch seems like a great school I guess im just still trying to adapt to everything, hopefully I could get used to it all soon and make the best of these next four years 🙂

  6. Being at Baruch has given me a new found freedom. The college experience is so different from being in high school. Especially since I am living in the dorms, I need to take care of myself and do things on my own. Being at Baruch however, has given me a sense of home as I am part of a team already that I love. The other cheerleaders at Baruch are some of the nicest and funniest girls I have ever met. They’re all very different and come from different parts of the city. This concept is new to me as I come from Long Island where everyone and everything are usually very stereotypical and the same. Of course a few things here at Baruch might need a little getting used to, like those express elevators! But, in all, I think I’m going to have a great four years. Being in the city is amazing enough. Now going to a school where I can dorm, cheer, and learn all within this city with so many things to offer is clearly a win-win deal. Since I’ve moved into the city, I have done some of the coolest and most interesting things I have ever done in my whole life. I look forward to more of this to come. I think that what Baruch has to offer is the perfect plan for anyone interested in college life in the city.

  7. Well,i really didn’t want to come to this college because before coming here someone told me that this college is best for those students whose major will be business based but i am out of that cos i want to choose engineering science as my major.then somehow i had come here because of some reasons and in our orientation class our guide said that our teachers won’t be so helpful with us and so many things that we not suppose to like about this college. But surprisingly none of this happened yet whatever our guide said to us and i think some of our teachers are really nice with us. also i wanted to transfer this college the day i entered here but right now every single things changed my mind to do that. so for now i don’t want to change this college at least 1 year i want to stay here if everything will go normally.
Now the classes i am taking, to be honest among those “Theatre” is one of the class that i don’t like to take and if had a chance to change this i would love to do that.Because the main reason i really don’t like that theatre class is based on arts and cultures which is unfamiliar to me cos i am a science student.
otherwise everything is going so normally. i am also enjoying the silence of library cos sometime when i don’t have enough sleep at home, i can sleep that much which i missed early in the morning before coming to my class which is at 9.30.moreover i am filling good to use every facilities in this college such as taking laptops for 3 hours, more importantly the WIFI that allows us to use the internet around the college or inside the college, those food stores, gym, swimming pool inside VC building. butone thing i don’t like when i have to wait for those elevators in that building and also in 23rd building.
but i think everything is going quite normal and it will remain until my mind will change.

  8. As an international student i thought i’ll have hard time to adapt college life,it’s only one month since it started but i already feel great about it.i like all my classes and teachers,i feel that proffesors are trying their best to help us get connected with the subject and keep us interested.Classes are not really hard by now,i’ve met some nice people already.i am spending most of the day at school and i want to enroll in some clubs, though still not really sure which one.

  9. The first day in the baruch i was very exited ,I liked the whole things, campus, classmates and the professors. And after i joined the freshman seminar i learned a lot from there and i was glad to know that there are professors and seniors helping us to answer the questions about what we don’t know or what we confused to do something.

  10. Baruch is very different than other colleges. I have visited other colleges such as University of Wisconsin and have heard stories from friends and cousins about there colleges as well. For the most part, I dont like how theres no campus life. Of course there are Fraternities and Sororities, but such a slim amount of the student body enters these groups that it completely destroys the point. Not only that, but there are no campus parties…since there is no campus and the frat parties are almost always located in Brooklyn which is far away. I DO like some parts about Baruch though, so dont get me wrong. I like how diverse the school is. Everywhere I go, I meet new people. I can walk into school one day and meet someone from Bangladesh and walk into school another day and meet someone from perhaps Alaska. Also, the education is superb and with a full scholarship, why wouldnt I like Baruch?

  11. Baruch life so far is alright. There is so much work to do for my classes that I am always so busy. The work itself isn’t difficult to do, it is just so time-consuming. I like most of my classes so far except Music, Philosophy, and English. Music and Philosophy are so boring and English class is just weird. I like the fact that there are so much things that you can be a part of at Baruch and it is also very diverse. I can’t wait to use the gym and be part of a club or organization. Right now, I feel that I need to adapt first and then look for things to do. I also like that my classes start at 10:45 so I can sleep later than I did in high school.

  12. Wow, I thought I would like philosophy class. I was so WRONG. It’s so God-awful boring and I actually fall asleep in it. Even POLITICAL SCIENCE is more interesting! >_>

On another note, I’m so used to commuting to school every day and having a lot of chances to manage my own life that I am completely used to the college life. Maybe if I had gone abroad or at least out of the city, I would feel different about college life. Anyway, I’m just hoping that there is a club that I’m genuinely interested in because I don’t want to half-ass everything I do for it.
