  1. I don’t think there is much services we can choose. Like us, students don’t do the services everyday. So if there is some work necessary to do, the government or the company will make it as a job. They will not wait until some students try to do it. So the work we can choose is limited.

  2. I would have to disagree Yu, there’s always some way that you can make a positive impact on the community. The government has already so much to do on it’s agenda that it cannot focus on each community individually. There are more than 20,000 people in NY that are homeless which include men, women and children. There are many elderly who are often neglected, and there is so much pollution in NYC are a few issues that we can help solve by giving back. This creates opportunity for us to give back to the less fortunate.Someone out there has less than you have whether that be basic necessities like clothes, food and shelter, or just someone to talk to,money or even help learning to read. You are never too young to help a positive cause, or create one.

  3. I like the breast cancer walk and the can food drive. If the soup kitchen has days other than Thanksgiving, I’m for that too. Thanksgiving is the only holiday I get to see my entire extended family.

    Other ideas:
My younger sister volunteered at her school for a brown bag lunch program and made sandwiches for a homeless shelter. Also, if there is no timeline for this community service, I also volunteer at park clean-ups in the spring and easter egg hunts.

  4. I can’t believe I forgot to say this in class! My sister runs an organization called Hear the Hungry where she makes rounds at night to all the homeless and gives them food, clothing and other necessary items like soap, water etc.

Maybe if we do a collection this is where it can go. She just started about a year ago with another college student, they both attend CUNY schools, so maybe this would be a good way to help the homeless of NYC and support other CUNY students while doing community service.

  5. i like the can food drive and the breast cancer walk. But I think Irene and Crystals idea for the Hear the Hungry idea. It sounds like a good way to help out and get other people to be aware of these types of situations.

  6. I like Romi’s comment and totally agree with her.We must put ourselves on the others’ shoes and we are going to see that not for all the world and life is the same like we think.I think all those ideas are great. But the one that I like most is the breast cancer walk.My grandmother diedof breast cancer,so i will do for her that walk

  7. Im interested in doing the the breast cancer walk and collecting canned foods and other things the homeless need and handing them out sounds like a good idea

  8. I would like to do clothing drive. It is a good idea because i think many people have some clothings that are too small to them. Donating these clothings is helpful to some homeless or extreme poor peole.

  9. I would like to do the clothing/can drive. I feel that these items are both essential to the survival of people RIGHT NOW. Starvation is the leading cause of death in the world. Therefore, I feel that they take priority over the vast other ideas available.
