baruch

A) My Baruch experience has actually lived up to my expectations. Coming into this school, I expected to be an average student passing all my classes and thats exactly what I got. Although I could have done better, Im more than satisfied with my results. For a freshman in college, I think I did all right. I also expected time to be my biggest enemy. Most of this semester was spent in class, work, or homework afterwards. There was little time for fun but I expected it.

B) My first semester was just well. It went as expected. I was able to adjust to college life without messing up and that’s great in my book. I didn’t encounter anything I couldn’t handle yet and I have nothing to worry about. Pre-Calculus is the only thing that may worry me but honestly if I study and put more effort, I should be fine.

C) If I could do it all again, I wouldnt. I don’t want to go through it again, I just want to keep moving. But one thing I could have done better was not procrastinating. I’m trying now by doing this days before it is due. I was able to complete all my assignments but many were at the last minute. Although it’s not easy, I have to get myself to focus more on my work rather than everything else.

D) I changed in that I have become more mature and independent. Unlike high school where I played around and classes was the last thing on my mind, I have become more aware of my education. Especially since I’m the one paying for it. School is not a joke to me anymore and I realized it’s time to start behaving like an adult. I’m taking responsibility for my own life.

monologue

To sum it up: I am free but i am not free, considered an adult but still at home with mommy.  Growing up, my parents always spoke highly of college.  Since they both gradutated from universities, they expected nothing less from their children. They constantly voiced their opinions with college, including one I would never forget: my mother saying even if she had all the money in the world, she would not pay for my college education. She expected me to take care of my responsiblities on my own. Therefore, I knew college would be a necessity in my life and the reason why I am in Baruch.

Looking back, I miss high school. Compared to the courses here, it was a relatively easy experience. Classes were shorter, more uniformed, and time flew by quickly. I had no worries and would run around, pull pranks and just have fun. Baruch is an entirely different experience. No person can sit for three hours attentively in a single class. I wonder who was the genius that thought of making students sit for such a long time. I also prefer the option in choosing my classes. Although it will be given soon enough, a choice can make all the difference in the world.

Despite the change, I look forward to four years at Baruch. I knew coming into here that it would be a new obstacle to overcome. I personally challenge Baruch College to try stopping me from achieving my dream. I came here to be a businessman, and a businessman I shall be.

Who i am

Hola my name is Emilio Rojas Rosario Jr the 4th (full name) also known as Emilito and I believe I know who I am. I was born in the Dominican Republic and migrated to the United States at the age of one. I’m 18 and lived in the Bronx until a year ago when I moved to Westchester. A city boy can never get used to living in the suburbs, so you all can only imagine how trapped I feel here. I’m the type of person that refuses to be held down and likes freedom. I will always try to find something fun to do because I will not allow boredom to overtake me. Thrills are my best friends and I will not hesitate to try something new. I enjoy spending time with the family and friends; happy to be alive.

My concerns for freshman year include my grades, time, and the college experience. Although I can be apathetic sometimes, I want to try to keep a 3.0 or greater gpa. College isn’t free so I might as well take advantage and do the best I can. Time management is important to me because I want to be able to do it all. School, work, fun, should all be balanced and hopefully this year I’ll learn how to balance them properly. Lastly, I do want the college experience and will try to get involved while focusing on my work.

This first year will change me by establishing maturity and independence. I take control of my life from now on, and it’s up to me to lead it the best I can. I look forward to being a responsible adult one day.
