My Final Blog
Baruch has lived up to its expectations in terms of freedom. First of all, I was given the option to do whatever I wish during my spare time. Meaning, that when a class ended, I could choose where to go and what to do up until my next class. I could go and eat, do homework or assignments, go to the gymnasium or courts, or just socialize with the people around me. In terms of the workload, my expectations have been exceeded. I certainly didn’t expect to have this much work so early on in my college career. I’m not doing as well as I would’ve liked to and it taught me to study regularly during my commute and during my free time.
I believe I am doing fairly well in terms of my grades. I’ve been doing overwhelmingly well in my Introduction to Psychology class scoring over 90 percent on my three exams. I would predict that I’m heading towards an A in this class. My speech professor recently told me I’m between an A- and a B+ and that I need to keep up what I’ve done to get the A. In math I have been intellectually challenged in terms of understanding both the professor and the material quickly. In history I didn’t perform as well as I would have liked on the midterm, which is 20 percent of the grade. Otherwise, I’m anticipating a B+. In English I have shown steady improvement but I am getting anxious about the next few assignments, which will be weighed the heaviest. So far though, I am probably in the B range.
I wouldn’t change anything about my first semester if I could. I made mistakes early on with my time management, but without them I would not know what changes to implement to improve my studying habits. Besides, if anything were to be changed, I wouldn’t be at the position I am today and perhaps things would be worse.
I think I changed a bit during my first semester. After some early miscues, I was able to improve my time management, my studying habits, and as a consequence, my grades. Also, something that has changed is the fact that my commute seems to pass by faster and is not as bad as I originally anticipated. Lastly, and most importantly in my opinion, I grew socially. Unlike high school, I’m not afraid to speak up more often and I found more people that I get along with. Essentially, I’m becoming more comfortable around other people.

My Monologue
My name is Mony Gluzman and I identify myself as me, an 18 year old trying to make it and figure out my place in the world. I enjoy being happy, stable in the financial and emotional sense, and successful. I don’t like being sad, when life becomes too turbulent, and awkward moments.
My close friends and my family matter most to me, so much that I put them in front of myself. The well-being and happiness of those aforementioned figures is very important. Losing any one of them would be tragic and it’s one of my biggest fears including failure and the uncertain future.
I like playing and watching sports such as basketball and soccer, listen and play music, and having a good time with my friends. I also like feeling empowered, most notably when I got my first job and paycheck.
Lastly, my biggest challenges will be dealing with the workload, dealing with the commute, managing my time, and making friends. But, I believe everything will be resolved in time and I look forward to learning more about myself as I settle from adolescence onto adulthood.

As I Am
If you haven’t seen my name via my user name, my name is Mony Gluzman. I am originally from Israel and I moved to Brooklyn seven years ago and have resided here ever since. I attended Edward R. Murrow High School and I have managed to pick up a few friends that mean a lot to me, though sadly we have contacted each other less than we would have like. I enjoy music very much; mostly rock from the 70’s and other forms of rock and heavy metal appeal to me the most. Also, being a fan of music, I enjoy going to live shows, though many of the older bands that I like are either disbanded or most of their members are deceased. I also enjoy playing the guitar very much. Some of my other interests include cooking, eating, traveling and exploring, and sports such as soccer/the real football, basketball, skiing, snowboarding, and running. I guess this is who I am in a nutshell without going into too much detail.
I have a few concerns for my freshman year. Firstly, it would be to maintain my sanity and not get too stressed out while I try to get the best grades possible in every class; that is the foundation for a good GPA. Secondly, although I have been a bit of a loner sometimes, I would like to acquaint myself with some close friends that are true to themselves and fun to get along with. Lastly, balancing my time with school and other responsibilities I have would be difficult but I look forward to succeeding at both.
I think the Baruch experience so far is quite different from high school. In here, everybody comes from different parts of NY, the United States, and the rest of the world. Also, the workload is quite different, especially if my freshman year in high school would be compared to this year. Also, the independence that is given is good, but it will take some time to get used to and adjust to it so that I don’t slack off.
I think this first year in college will mature me. I will hopefully get used to balancing some of my duties with school and I will probably become gradually more responsible and independent. I think this year is important and the college experience is important in that it gives me an appetizer or a small taste of what the real world will eventually be for me.
