Attending the Rubin Museum of Art was an “enlightening” experience to say the least. The metal statues of Buddha and other Hindu and Buddhist gods were beautiful and immaculately designed. My overall experience was fun and educational. Upon arrival I was very impressed by the spiral staircase and fancy decor. All of the different levels were well organized with fact posters that described each display case. The gods of fury and war were very intimidating. Seeing there long tongues and fiery eyes so carefully portrayed made me do a double take. The incorporation of sexual intercourse was very evident on the statuaries. It was interesting to see that relation between there culture and ours, sex being a huge media selling business technique and apeal in modern America. When I got to the sanctuary I felt engulfed by the Tibetan techniques of reaching enlightenment. It was like diving right into their world. This was by far the funnest assignment for any class I’ve ever taken. Fascinating and very enjoyable. A taste and see experience of a truly significant and influential ancient culture.

A) Over all, my first semester at Baruch College has exceeded my expectations. I am not only a more responsible person, but I feel more empowered as a singer and song writer. In my English 2100 class my professor aloud me to chose my own topic for a research paper. Of course, I chose a topic on music business. I learned a lot of new independent artist methods to increase a larger annual income. It was enlightening being able to study professionals in the field I want to excel in professionally, especially when it is for a required English course. My math professor has been very gracious to me as well. I was doing very poorly and he offered me a lot of help and resources to take me to a proficient level to do well on the exams. Its been a tough adjustment but a great first semester at Baruch!
B) Grade wise I think I’m getting decent grades in all my classes. Hopefully I will have a B or better in all my classes. Math has been much more difficult than English because most of the grade depends on test grades. If I do well on my third math exam, I think I will have no problem getting a solid grade in the class.
C) If I had to do it over again I would have studied a little every day opposed to cramming before tests. Its less effective and more stressful.
D) I hope I have changed for the better and have become a more organized business minded individual. I am ready to take on next semester with a positive attitude and a more focused mind so I can get my BA in no time!

Monologue
Three years ago I moved here with great expectations ready to pursue my dreams. Moving to NYC from LA was one of the most challenging but rewarding things I have ever chosen to do.I commuted from my sisters house in New Jersey to New York every day searching for jobs. It was a rude awakening for me. A completely different culture, no parents, and little money. Only my tenacious ambition and faith that God would help me to do everything I needed to. It is definitely a challenge balancing work, school, and married life, but I love my life. The lessons I learn on a daily basis are enriching and are equipping me for my future in music. Songs are pouring from me more freely. I feel like a piece of flint being sharpened with a stone. The pieces cut away from me are my acts of love to the world.
I am happy to be here. I look around my classrooms and see diversity and the potential for greatness. People from all over the world, from different walks of life all united to learn and grow to become cutting edge professionals. It is inspiring to see people putting themselves out of their element. Life is different when you are in college. This is the beginning of the rest of my life. Now, everything I do counts. The accountability I have from everyone puts me in a position where I want to be my best at everything I put my hands to.
I think. NO, I know that we will do amazing things. Believe it. We are unique and wonderful people, created by God to be excellent. I pray that you and I will reach great heights and depths. Persevere through trials, strive to be good people, unafraid of those who oppose us to do the right thing.

My teachers in highschool costantly warned me that I “need to prepare for college!” Three years after graduating I have finally arrived to get my degree. To be honest I didn’t think it was going to be so fun. I imagined going into giant lecture halls with monotone voiced professors, poorly lit by flickering flourescent bulbs. Of course I would have at least five hours of homework every night on subjects that were unapplicaple to anything I actually wanted to do in my life. My perception was very innacurate. I just wasn’t quite ready to fully commit.
So far all of my professors have been excellent. Not only have they been very enthusiastic and interesting, the lessons are filled with discussions on every day life topics like balancing work and school and maintaining a successful marriage. I never knew college would be so practical. A majority of what you learn is effective communication. Being able to clearly state your opinion to a classroom, being quick to respond to emails and making sure to ask your professor about anything you are unsure about. I have also found that it is important to participate. There is power in numbers, and a great teacher knows that students can learn from each other. When everyone’s minds are operating together, topics can be understood much clearer. I try to break the ice by being one of the first to share my opinion. I want my classmates to feel comfortable sharing there opinions.
One of the major setbacks I thought I was going to encounter was not having time to do music. But, the contrary has happened. Since school has started, I have become more organized and have spent more time on writing and producing new songs. Also, it has been a lot of fun discussing college life with my wife and family. They all have tremendously supported me in all my scholastic endeavors. Often, they share their ideas for possible essay topics for english and my wife loves to help me with math. She thinks of algebraic equations as entertainment. The responsibilities I have in college have definitely helped me be a better person so far. It’s good to be in a classroom interacting so personally with such a diverse group of people. I love the diversity represented in all my classes. I am meeting new friends everyday from Asia, Africa, South America and Europe. So far none from Antarctica. I don’t think anyone lasts long there anyway.
