Ye In Bin- 1st blog

I can be identified as many different person. First of all, I am a freshman in Baruch College. Some people also see me as a person who attends church. My parent can see me as a first son in the family and my brother can see me as a big brother. Last of all, my friends can see me as a good and loyal friend. Most importantly, I see me as a person who trying to ace the college classes and trying to live hardest and live a good life. I tried hard in all of my classes but at the same time, I am trying to spend time with family, friends, and in church.

My biggest concern in Baruch College is the fact that I have to maintain 3.2 GPA to keep on receiving the Dean’s Scholarship. I am taking 5 classes and anthropology and history classes are giving me a hard time. Becasue of these two classes, I am worried that i might not be able to keep up the GPA. My 2nd biggest concern is the commuting. I live in Port Washington (in Long Island). I calculated my commuting time and it takes around 3 hours to travel back and forth to Baruch from my house. I hope I can move out soon so I dont have to travel so much. My last concern (was) making friends. This was a big concern when I first entered college but I started to make friends by going to various clubs and talking to students in the classes. So the last one is taken care of.

In my opinion, high school and college both have similarity and difference. The similiarity is that I have to commute to school. Also, classes are not that much different from high school. However, college works are much harder and goes into much more detail. In addition, classes are longer and breaks are longer between the classes. I also think that college have a lot more independence. In high school, teachers take care a lot for students but in college, students have to make time to go see the professor at certain help time to get help. Lastly, I take less classes in college than high school, but I have more work than high school.

I think the first year at Baruch will change me in many ways. I think I will be more independent. Also, I will know how to manage time and schedule. Lastly, I will be more studius and will study harder to achieve high GPA

Who do i think i am?I think i am an easygoing person with lack of patience. I am definitely not a very outgoing person although I tend to get very noisy and hyper after I truly get to know someone. I am a responsible person and I tend to keep all my promises. I usually don’t wait till the last minute to do my work, but I wouldn’t do it the very moment I received the assignment either.

My main concern about my freshman year at Baruch College would be my academic grades. Since college is very different from high school , I wouldn’t really know what to expect from tests given by different professors. I am worry about the upcoming tests I have next week because it would be my first tests and I would want to do well on them. Another concern would be the requirement of a public speaking class. I don’t like presenting in front of a bunch of people because I get nervous easily. Since this would be a mandatory class, I have no choice but to take it and hopefully it can help me in becoming a better presenter. My last concern would be time management. I have lots of readings and writing assignments to do almost everyday from various classes and I will soon have to prepare for my upcoming tests . It seems to me that I have lots of work to do and I hope I can manage my time wisely so that I have enough time to finish everything I need to do.

What do I think will make my Baruch College experience different from my high school experience? I think that in college, class size tends to be a lot larger and professor don’t really have the time to care about students individually. There is definitely no way to cut class because one will be drop from class after a certain amount of absences. The campus area is also a lot bigger than high school and now I have to walk a lot of stairs in order to get to class.

I think my first year at College will help me in becoming a more studious person. Due to the increase amount of workloads I have now, I would focus more on my schoolworks and take them more seriously than when I was in highschool. I would probably have less free time and I definitely would need to learn how to manage my time wisely. I hope that my first year at College will be fun despite the amount of work I have to do.

I think I am special, because I am who I am, I am the only one in the world. However, I’m just a common girl who is easygoing, kind, truthful, enjoying singing, shopping and making friends.

This is my freshman year at Baruch College. Life is getting excited and nervous. As all students concern about, I put most of my attention to the academic. Because in the first year, I still don’t clearly know about how to learn yet. That means I have to put much more effort on it. Besides wishing a good academic, I also wanna get used into college life. The best way to do it is making new friends which through joining some clubs and be more active. Finally, I want to pick my major as soon as possible. Because people around me already make up their minds for majoring in finance, accounting and so on. I think I’d better talk to the academic advisor for more in -formations.

In my opinion, college and high school is not totally different. But the most different part is we have more freedom than before. In high school, teachers will force you to do all the work. However, it is impossible in college. Professors will assign so many reading and homework, but they don’t even care whether you do it or not. As a college student, we have to take our own responsibilities, and that is the only way to success.

When I was very young, I was so shy. Then I become more and more outgoing while I grow up. And now, I believe that I can put my “blush” away because of the changing I really have to make at that time I start my college life. In a new environment, you ought to know how to face all kinds of unexpected challenges and then become more confident. Remembering the last group presentation which held in the anthropology class. Unfortunately my partner decided to drop the course, and my professors didn’t assign me another partner. So I have to do the whole thing by myself. That was not fare but I still need to do it. From that time on, I realize I have to take that responsibility and try my best to do it with all my confidence. And finally I did it.

I think i am a nice person who is willing to help people and like to learn new things.  I  am always amiable to people and so most of people do to me. And I like to challenge everything that are fresh to me.  On the other hand, I have concern on some of my classes. Sometimes there are so much readings and I can not absorb things clearly in the context. Too much reading makes me feel like I dont want to do it. Besides, I am concern of what I can do after I finish college. Should I continue to study or work!? More and more,  I am afraid my English level  is not good enough to adapt me to live in this society. Because I am a 4 years immigrant in New York.  In Baruch, we can freely go to anywhere and do whatever without restriction. We have more time for the break and we can use cell-phone outside the class in school. In first year of the school, I can make friends that I newly meet in Baruch and have my new life in here. I am looking forward to my College Life!
