Charity
Well I know this is kind of late, scratch that really late, but I think we should donate to Red Cross. Red Cross is an organization that prepares communities for disasters, does blood drives and provides training for emergency situations. Red Cross trains individuals in CPR, lifeguarding and first aid among other things, in fact one of my friends has a CPR certification and a first aid certification from Red Cross. I thing we should donate to Red Cross because it trains people for disaster and emergency situations.

Charity Idea
Sorry for being late, I have not checked my inbox until today, as I usually do not use e-mail.
I believe that we should donate the charity money to toys for tots, which can be found at http://www.toysfortots.org/
The reason being is that many children who do not have the wealth and luxuries that we have, also deserve to have a happy Christmas as well. The idea here is to purchase brand new toys, so that those children who usually do not receive gifts because of their circumstances. However, with toys for tots, these children are able to experience the real meaning of Christmas and i think it will also show a lot of Christmas spirit and unite the community in supporting these efforts for the less fortunate.

Charity idea
I believe that we should donate the money we raise from our game a thon to the Make- a-Wish foundation. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a 501 non-profit organization founded in the United States that grants wishes to children (three years old to Seven-teen years old) who have life-threatening medical conditions. The charity now operates in forty-seven countries around the world through thirty-six partner offices. Since 1980, the Make-A-Wish Foundation has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its wish-granting work. The Foundation’s mission reflects the life-changing impact that a Make-A-Wishexperience has on children, families, referral sources, donors, sponsors and entire communities. They only reason the Make-A-Wish Foundation is so successful is through there donations and their numerous volunteers. I believe that we should donate to this charity because of the type of work they do. I personally volunteer on Friday nights at a local Cub Scout Pack in my neighborhood. The kids I work with range from first to fifth grade. There is no better feeling than helping kids. The Make-A-Wish Foundation helps kids that may not get another chance to do or get what they most want. The fact that you help is one thing, they take it to a whole different level. I believe that this charity is worth any donation we could possibly give.

Peace & International Relations
i think peace and international relations should be a candidate for who we donate our fundraising money to. they stand for a just cause looking to correct the problems of war and non peaceful negotiations between powers we have no control over. as the people of the world we suffer the most from the actions of the political bodies that supposedly “represent” the wants of it’s people. they have determined that if we can generate peace in the world it would open up the way for prosperity. enabling a new golden age of the 21st century could result in a landslide of humanitarian ingenuity. maximizing the possibilities of many generations to come and preparing the world ahead for a better one. a chance to let brilliance radiate from all of the 6 billion plus people in the world would have some seriously innovative effects on the society of the future & of the world. after all we do only have one world to inhabit and as of right now even with the discoveries of other planets with the possibility to sustain life, there is no way to move our entire population there. so i say if we want to make a change in the world for the greater, we must begin at the roots, activate eternity lasting peace, and open up the possibility for the world of tomorrow 🙂

Charity Suggestion
Charity is important and everybody should learn to give to the less fortunate and help those who need it. Luke’s Wings is a foundation that generates money to help wounded soldiers reunite with their families. No soldier deserves to feel worthless or unloved once they are sent away to war and this organization strives to stop this from happening. This is a special time of the year, considering that Christmas is near and Luke’s Wings is trying to raise $100,000 by December 25, 2011 so that they can send 31,500 wounded soldiers home for the holiday season. This is a completely realistic target and just to imagine all the joy we can bring to the lives of families that deserve makes it sound even more worth it. Fund raising for a great cause and remembering about our soldiers is important, especially because a lot of us forget about them because we don’t have loved one’s in a different country fighting for our freedom. This is my suggestion for charity and the website below speaks for itself ! Thank you. -TASNIM CHOWDHURY

Building schools = building communities. True story.
Hi.
I’m really excited that we’re going to be doing a charity event, because it gives me the opportunity to help one of my favorite charities: BuildOn.
I have been involved with BuildOn for a couple of years now, and I am fully convinced that their cause is a worthy one.
BuildOn (previously Building with Books), builds schools in developing countries. Building schools implies one thing: the provision of education.
Fact: “One in five adults in the developing world — almost 862 million people — cannot read or write” (do something.org)
BuildOn provides free education to the people of these communities, delivered to the community by the literate members, who are trained by BuildOn. There are both adult and student classes, which cover topics from reading and writing, to agriculture and hygiene: these are topics that benefit the people, as they work towards improving their communities, and hopefully breaking the cycle of poverty.
Fact(s):
(a) “Most illiterate persons are female. In more than 20 developing nations, illiteracy rates amongst women exceed 70% […] Social traditions and deep-rooted religious and cultural beliefs are most often the barriers to expanding girls’ educational opportunities in undeveloped countries around the world […] Educated girls and women are less vulnerable to HIV infection, human trafficking and other forms of exploitation, are more likely to marry later, raise fewer children who are more likely to go to school, and make important contributions to family income.” (do something.org)
Before BuildOn lays one brick, they enter into a covenant with the community that BuildOn will provide the supplies needed for construction, as long as the community provides volunteer days and a promise that an equal number of girls and boys will be educated in the schools.
The pursuit of education is one that will benefit these poor communities by teaching them to sustain themselves. People in these communities will learn better agricultural methods, better hygienic and health practices, and will live longer and prosper more.
In a nutshell, we should donate to buildOn for these reasons:
1. buildOn provides education, and education improves lives.
2. buildOn ensures that the benefits of education are supplied equally to both genders in the community
3. Education really can help these communities out of poverty.

Hello and happy holidays. Wether you celebrate christmas, hanukah, kwanza, or any other holiday, everyone deserves a chance to be loved and cared for. With the weather getting colder, homeless people which are stuck in the streets have a hard time adjusting to the changes. I think the best charity to donate money to is the Coalition for the Homeless. Their website shares information about the sufferers out there and recommends ways to help them out.
We can make a change in the city even if we can’t reach out to all 41,000 homeless people in New York, at least we can make a change in a few lives. This way these shelterless people can enjoy a nice, warm, comfortable holiday.
I chose Coalition for the Homeless for a number of reasons. They happen to be one of the most reputable charity agencies in the city, so we know we really are helping out. Also homeless people are at a disadvantage and helping some who is down stand back up is a change we can all embrace. Finally, I would like the city to change as a whole and become a nicer environment. I believe by helping out homeless people, maybe we will show them the path to the good life, and in the long run help them help themselves.
As the last blog post I would just like to say THANK YOU and happy holidays to everyone!

Charity
There are many organizations out there that helps out many people. Out of all the organizations, many of them only focus on a certain category. Out of all the organizations, I think that we should donate the money to UNICEF because it is an organization that helps many different world wide problems. UNICEF is an organization that helps fight against AIDS on children as well as African crisis. When there is a sudden emergency, UNICEF would raise money to help aid all the people in need. One great example would be the earthquake in Japan. They were able to help aid the Japan when Japan needed all the help they can get. By donating to UNICEF, it would help the people in Africa because starvation in certain parts of Africa is very high right now. If we are able to donate the money to help provide food and shelter, it would help make a big difference.
