Voices

Today we went to Mason Hall to watch the selected monologues get preformed. 90 were selected but roughly 20 were preformed. Out of the 20 that were performed 3 of them had been about either a student personally going through cancer or having their parent go through it. It was the most heartbreaking thing I have ever heard. Walking into Voices, I thought it would be a waste of time. It started off relatively bland and as the stories went on they got more and more personal. One story in particular made me cry. It was very inspiring to see my own peers open up in their writing and give us something that isn’t generic but something that is raw…something that is heartbreaking…something that is the truth.
Wow… I went into voices with the same exact thoughts. I am really glad I got to hear those people speak. Like you said they were really inspiring, and some stories they had were very heartbreaking. The girl who spoke about her times with bone marrow cancer was one of the most touching stories I’ve ever heard. Those people are truly amazing people, and I feel blessed to hear their inspiring stories.
Thanks for being thoughtful and posting, Michelle and Nick! I don’t know who Engagement Rings is. :/
