Hi, my name is Michael Leonardo and I’m from brooklyn new york. I came to this school because it is a very good school for business and I am very interested in that field. One of my biggest concerns about Baruch is not being able to keep up with all of the work. Some classes I feel that I am already falling behind and I have my first test in psychology which i still need to study for. Another concern that I have is not being able to adjust and manage my free time with friends and schoolwork. Baruch college says that you need 2 hours of studying for every hour of class per week. This leaves very little time to hang out and spend time with friends. Another big concern I have with Baruch college is not making new friends. I have a few friends here that I have known before I came to Baruch. Baruch is a predominately commuter college and people seem to go to school and go back home so it is even harder to meet new people here. At my old high school there were very small classes with less than 30 kids per class. Here at Baruch I have some classes with over 100 students. This is a very big change because it is easier to get help in a smaller class setting and in some of my classes it is not that easy. I think that my first year at Baruch will change me by making me become more outspoken. It will also change the way I view school for the better because I am beginning to take my schoolwork more seriously.

Hey, Michael. For some first-year students it is a good idea to change how you think about school. When we were in high school, school is just what we did. Think of college as a very demanding job. I mean you had to appply to get in, right? Like applying for a job. So, keeping this job of college is your first priority. About making friends, yeah, that’s a tough one. the first year of college often feels pretty lonely. But it always changes for the better. Might just want to be patient about meeting people ( I mean you have a class with 100 people, there’s got to be someone who will appeal to you) or join a club. That’s what they are for.
