“Who do you think you are?”

My name is Mark Guindi. I’m 18 years old and a first year student at Baruch. I would describe myself to be an easy-going, laid back guy. I’m always open to making new friends, but i do get shy at times. I have a hunger for knowledge, and i hope Baruch will be able to satisfy me. I love everything sports related, from playing them, to watching them, to reading about them. I would love to be a part of the Baruch Bearcats basketball team but that probably is a long shot since I am only 5’9 and probably not nearly as fit as the students that will be on the team. I would describe myself as a respectful, friendly, outgoing young man who knows whats right and what’s wrong. I know where I come from and that I’m supposed to treat people the way I’d like them to treat me.

My top 3 concerns about my freshman year at Baruch are:

1. Focusing on my studies/keeping my grades up and not getting side tracked by the things around me.

2. Liking the school. I’ve heard a not of negative feedback about Baruch, but hopefully i’ll learn to love it.

3. The size of the classes.

The transition from high school to college was a big step for me. I i went from knowing almost everybody in my high school, to seeing a whole lot of new faces in college. Academic wise, the teachers are a lot less demanding and it’s all about whether the student wants to do well or not. In high school, the teachers push you to do well and are always on your case to do the assigned work.  I think i will mature over my first year of college, and hopefully expand my social circle as well.
