Blogpost #3

Baruch has lived up to my expectations. Ive heard it’s a challanging school that piles on a lot of work which is true.  I’ve also heard that it’s a commuter school and that everyone just comes in, takes their classes, and leaves. That isn’t true. I’ve been able to make a lot of friends at during my first semester. I think my first semester at Baruch went pretty well. I’ve been doing well in almost all of my classes, and I’m really enjoying it. I expect to stay in Baruch until I graduate. If I were to do something differently during my first semester, I would concentrate more on my work and not wait until the last minute to do my papers. Since stepping foot into Baruch, I think I’ve matured a lot. During high school, I wasn’t able to go out and see what the real world was like but now that i’m in college, I see it everyday.

Monologue

My name is Mark Guindi. I am 18 years old. Iv’e lived in New York all my life and don’t intend on leaving anytime soon. I love every sport no matter what it is. Sports bring out my competitive attribute and I always try my hardest to come out on top. I’m enjoying Baruch so far. My favorite class is psychology, with art history definitely being the worst. I bombed an art history test this week and i’m hoping the professor would have sympathy and pass me. I love thrilling things and anything that can give me a quick adrenaline rush. I love the city even though taxi drivers are horrible, and there are a bunch of lunatics roaming the streets. I hate anything with coffee in it, from capuchinos to frappachinos and all the other chinos. French fries are awesome. Porsches are my favorite cars. They are made to perfection and look magnificent. I am a Big New York Giants fan and a New York Jets hater as well. I mean, all those jet fans are so cocky and have nothing at all to back up their words. Especially that coach of theirs, Rex Ryan.

“Who do you think you are?”

My name is Mark Guindi. I’m 18 years old and a first year student at Baruch. I would describe myself to be an easy-going, laid back guy. I’m always open to making new friends, but i do get shy at times. I have a hunger for knowledge, and i hope Baruch will be able to satisfy me. I love everything sports related, from playing them, to watching them, to reading about them. I would love to be a part of the Baruch Bearcats basketball team but that probably is a long shot since I am only 5’9 and probably not nearly as fit as the students that will be on the team. I would describe myself as a respectful, friendly, outgoing young man who knows whats right and what’s wrong. I know where I come from and that I’m supposed to treat people the way I’d like them to treat me.

My top 3 concerns about my freshman year at Baruch are:

1. Focusing on my studies/keeping my grades up and not getting side tracked by the things around me.

2. Liking the school. I’ve heard a not of negative feedback about Baruch, but hopefully i’ll learn to love it.

3. The size of the classes.

The transition from high school to college was a big step for me. I i went from knowing almost everybody in my high school, to seeing a whole lot of new faces in college. Academic wise, the teachers are a lot less demanding and it’s all about whether the student wants to do well or not. In high school, the teachers push you to do well and are always on your case to do the assigned work.  I think i will mature over my first year of college, and hopefully expand my social circle as well.
