Allow Me to Introduce Myself

My name is Juan and I am currently 18 years young, I say young because I shall always be a kid at heart. I believe I am a smart young talented individual. The only thing that stops me from reaching my full potential is my laziness and procrastination. If I managed to overcome my laziness I believe I could achieve great things. The best way to put it is that I am average person with above average potential.  Also when think I must say is that I am extremely sarcastic and some people don’t take well to my sarcasm. My sarcasm at times causes people to think I am mean but really I am a nice, helpful guy. 3 things that concerned me my freshman year was the possible work load, the lack of social life in Baruch, and what would happen to me and my friends from high school. Every time someone told you of college they would say it’s nothing like high school that professors no longer cared about you and they gave an extreme amount of homework, something I never did in high school.  My second concern was the so called lack of social life in a commuter school.  Like many students I was concerned that I wouldn’t receive a real college experience because this was a commuter school. I felt like I was missing out, that I was going to hear how all the people I knew where having the time of their lives and I was stuck taking the train every morning. It bummed me out knowing this. My final concern was will I stay friends with the people from high school. It seemed that everyone was going on their own path and we would slowly separate. The thing I realized after my freshmen year is that College is what you make of it. It can be a hard depressing experience or it could be a fun easy time, as long as you are willing to put the effort into it. What made my Baruch College Experience different was that it made me a more responsible person. When you come to college you are given a lot more freedom, you choose whether you go to that class where attendance isn’t taken or if you will do that reading even though professor won’t be checking. I make better decisions after all this freedom was given to me. My first year at college I don’t believe has changed me because I am still the Juan everyone knows aka the sarcastic helpful lazy child that everyone loves. What I believe it has done to me, is that it has helped me realize what the real world truly is like but I believe the best way to take on the real world is as yourself.
