The main concept of this seminar was to use cash instead of credit because it will reduce risks as you get older. i think the seminar was fine but i believe many of the things said have already been known. the things about saving and eating a little less and such were all things that we have learned before so i did not find it of great help.

Although i did not attend the Rubin Museum i heard a lot of things about it such as the culture and the places of worship and many things like shrines and other enriching sights of wonder. even though i was not there i could tell that the time there was amazing and great.

Voices IV was more emotional than Voices III but it was more entertaining and in a sense more relatable because it was written by our peers, not by upperclassmen like in Voices III. Most of the monologues were emotional and sad stories, like the with the girl and the cancer and how her friend helped save her life and the story about how the girl’s grandmother has passed away. One was funny though that I liked with the guy that off got the stage and started saying hilarious cultural references that we can all relate to such as “Rick Ross”. These Voices’ performances are repetitive but overall it was a good performance, very well acted out.

Visiting the Rubin Museum was a great experience because even though I learned about buddhism and its beliefs in the past I never saw its artifacts and art before. I was intrigued by the exhibition which was the praying area where people who practice buddhism come to pray. It was a sacred are with Buddha in the middle surrounding with candles ( I think it was 7) and it was important because it was the most religious part of the museum, and it is clearly very important to those practicing this religion. I also enjoyed the art of the religion as well as the interactive map of how the land changed over time. I liked this Museum because I learned about something I normally wouldn’t learn about.

This seminar was informative to a certain extent but I didn’t really gain much from it. The key is to use cash rather than credit cards so you won’t be in debt when you get older. Thats the only important thing. The bit he did with the if you give tea from home rather than buying it every morning you can save money is true but you won’t save that much money in the long run. The motive of the seminar was to encourage students to save money as they go through college and Im sure he educated a few people.

Attending Voices 4 wasn’t exactly how I wanted to spend my time during club hours. I sat with some of my friends from another freshman seminar group and watched the presentations. Some of them were really emotional and caught my attention. Some of them were just stupid. The one that really interested me was the one about the girl who had cancer and needed a bone marrow transplant. I guess the point of that monologue was to teach people that there are more serious issues in life than the small ones we find ourselves constantly complaining about.

The Rubin Museum was a new experience for me. I’ve never been to anything like that where they display Buddhist culture and all that sort of stuff. The one area that caught my attention was the Shrine. I didn’t essentially like it because of the weird creepy voice that was humming. It kinda gave me the goosebumps. I remember it was lit up with candles and alot of statues of Buddha’s. It wasn’t exactly my thing but at least I experienced something new in my life.

Honestly the guy was cool but as a freshmen there was already a general lack of interest. I know I should have payed attention but the pamphlet he gave out already has all the information. But money management is still very important. Saving a couple of dollars here and there adds up. Spending money wisely leads to good future choices and great opportunities. Opportunities like using your money for good investment stocks that leads to more money instead of spending money on clothes and other leisure items. Don’t get me wrong its good to spend money on leisure items but not all the time and before you buy something you can ask yourself is this really worth it.

I loved the place it was awesome. Learning about a culture so rich in history and stories is something I love doing. Especially something like Buddhism because Sri lanka(my country of origin)  is very enriched in Buddhism. So in the museum it was no surprise when I saw Sri Lankan artifacts in the museum. As you can tell I’m a Sri Lankan nationalist I love my country. Anyways back to the museum, We saw a shrine created here in New York containing so many rare and hard to get artifacts its really amazing. What makes it more amazing is the fact that people actually come to pray at the museum at the American made Buddhism shrine.

Basically someone who knows life isnt all fun and games but still has a positive outlook on life and all its misery. Don’t get me wrong I love to dream as well. When I was kid I hoped I grew to 6 feet 7 and become awesome at basketball and become a NBA baller. But I know now that isn’t possible. Haha thats not going to stop me from playing basketball and trying my best to become better and better.
