Email to Professor

Dear Professor Corwin.

I would like to address a problem with the grade I received for my essay. I know that I had to rewrite the essay because my first one was not on the right essays or up to your standards. Even so I do not think that I deserve a C- for the rewritten essay. I barely saw any mistakes on the paper, I don’t think I had enough mistakes to bring my grade that low. I would like it if you considered regrading my paper. Thank you.

ASSIGNMENT 2

1) I’m actually not sure who I fully am just yet. I just know my name and where I am from. For right now i guess I’m a freshman in Baruch college and my name is Mohammad Karimi and I’m from Long Island.

2) My Concerns!

– Time! That is my biggest concern, I dont know why there aren’t enough hours in a day. Managing my time wisely is going to be my biggest obstacle and my top priority.

-Procrastination. I always tell myself I wont, but I eventually do. Leaving homework and studying for the last minute is usally what happens, and this leads to me forgetting a lot of stuff.

-Keeping up my GPA. I don’t want to lower my GPA my stipid mistakes theres no second chances in college because after this is the work force and no one is going to be taking you through each step of your life after so staying focused and studying.

3) I think the fact that you really need to focus more college isn’t a joke, you can also have you’r fun but you should also know your limits. Manage your time wiesly. I am getting involved in clubs that seem to have a lot of relevance to my creer path and to what i enjoy.

4) My first year is going to make me realize the amount of responsibilty I now have. I have to commute to school everyday, study, go to club meetings, commute home, go to work, and spend time with family. My first year will basically be an adjustment period and should run as smoothly as possible. Other than that college seems like an amazing experience and it will make me a lot more matur and proffesional.

Who Do You Think You Are?

1. Tell us who you think YOU are!

I’m Bin Chen, and I come from China. I am a freshman in Baruch. I think my major will be in business, but I am not sure to choose which one. I am so shy that I can’t speak up to express myself.

2.  Share your top 3 concerns about your freshman year at Baruch College and explain why.

The first concern is to keep my GPA because GPA is especially significant for major and graduation. The second one is to involve in college live, which is a big challenge for me.  Even though joining club is a path to adapt college life, I don’t know to choose which club. Making friends is important, but I am weak on it. My friends are in other colleges, I just know few people now. The last concern is improving my English.

3. So far, what do you think will make your Baruch College experience different from your high school experience?

So far, the way to take class is different from my high school. I need to prepare for class, and the study time becomes longer. In addition, assignments and homework are written on the syllabus. I need to check syllabus frequency   so that I don’t miss the homework.

4. How do you think your first year at College will change you?

I think that the first year at college will make me independent and confidence. In the college, I know that study is for me. Professor just point out the important part, I need to spend time on study.

Assignment 2

1. I think I am a funny, kind, loving, caring, and humble young man. In the past year I have really gone through a huge transformation. I have matured very much and it had helped me very much on my transition toward becoming a college student.

2. A few concerns i have about this upcoming year are time management, studying, and freedom. Time management will be a concern mostly because I am a freshman on the basketball team and it will most likely take control of my life. In my high school the only time i studied was when there was a big upcoming test coming. In college it will be hard to transition to studying everyday. The freedom i will have now will also tempt me into slacking in some of my classes and then catch up with me.

3. The fact that the professors do not know us personally. In high school the teachers knew our names personally and could easily notice if we were struggling. Now that our classes have about 100 students the professors tend not to care if we’re struggling.

4. This first year at college will only make me better. It will give me a taste of the real world. It will make me work harder than ever and dedicate me to becoming successful.

WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE ?

Shy and quiet are the words people always come up to describe me and I pretty much agree plus I am also easygoing. My favorite subject is math, and I am very disappointed about not having a single math class this semester. Because of being so introverted, I had very few friends around. In my first year in Baruch, I hope to make some friends who I could hand out with even if I am not in Baruch anymore. The big classroom enables us to meet more people but it also pulls apart the distance among people. I had a problem talking to strangers. I remember in history, I had never talked to strangers even if we are taking the same classes all day together. I had never make friends with the strangers I talk to them first. This is very weird and stupid and sometimes I think I am a little autistic, but this idea disappears ever time when I am thinking I get along with my close friends and family members pretty well. Anyway I hope I could make more friends that this problem will disappear too. Furthermore, I really want to join a club I like, but none of the clubs in the campus interested me so far. I had went to the club fair and some meetings seem that interested me, but these meetings ended up making me feel so bore. Starting out a club is cool but it doesn’t sound probable for me at all because of being a next-semester-transferring-out-freshman. Finally I would like to focus on my time management skill for college, I am taking only five classes this semester and I know that’s not enough for me to graduate on time if I fail one accidentally. I want to get use to college life as soon as possible and able to take more classes next semester. Time management is also a very important issue to decide if one is success or not in college. I don’t think there’s anything will make the Baruch College experience differ from high school because I am currently not involved in any outside class activities. However, I hope this situation will change by the end of this year because I don’t want to graduate from one high school and going to another high school again. Even though there are so many problems regard to my social relationship in Baruch, I still believe the first year here will make me a more independent person and get ready for my next step. I will learn more and gain more. Of course I desperately want to amaze others by an outstanding academic record, so I will work hard for it. My favorite quotation is by a famous psychologist Carl Jung, “The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are” Just like Jung said, I am who I am, and I don’t want to be forced to change myself for any reason. I won’t be a well-rounded person because it’s helpful to be so; I will be someone like that because that is actually what I am.

prefers to look through rose-colored glasses in my life, because life is a
span. Therefore, helping people is the most force of my life. However, as a

Who Do You Think You Are?

I am Ka Leung.  I came from Hong Kong two years ago as an immigrant. I am good at Maths and logic thinking, but I am doing bad on English, language, and remembering stuffs.  When I was in High School, I was a lazy person, never read and study even before exams.  However, I cannot be lazy anymore.  I entered Baruch College as a Freshman, I realized that classes in college are much more challenged.  I am a hard working person now, I have to read more books to catch up my reading and writing skills.  Also, I am time managed, without time manage, you will waste many time.

I am worrying about the Freshman year in college.  My GPA is very important to my future, GPA determine how you doing in college, if I fail to get high grade, I cannot find a great job.  Networking is also a challenge for me, I am shy and not good at communicate with others in English. Friends are important to your whole life.  Third, I am worrying job in college, I want to get working experience from the college, so that I can prepare for my future work.

The differences between Baruch College and high school are the time manage, independent, and studying.  In high school, there is no gap between classes, and we are more relax at home; in college, we have gap between classes, so we have to use the time to study and we have to manage the time to rest or study.  In high school, teachers settle and remind all the works  for us, but not in college.  In high school, classes are much more easier, but college is very hard, so we have to study harder in college.

The freshman year changed me so much, I was a person that never stay in library to study.  However, I have to go to library for every single day.

HW

My name is Lihui Chen. I am a Baruch college freshman.  In this freshman year, I am trying to improve my English level because even I have been to America 3 years, my speaking and listening are still poor. Also , I am going to make some new friends in college because the more people you know in college, the more help you can get from others in college. Relationship is very important.  In addition, I am going to pass all the classes in the freshman year because I don’t want to waste time for retaking the classes. My Baruch College experience is very different from my high school experience. My high school is a public school. I did not have so much homework to do every day, but in college, I have to spend over 4 hours a day for studying. This big change is really hard for me to get through it. In the first year at college, I think I will know more about Baruch College and have more information about career so that I can decide to choose my major.

Response to “Who do you think you are?”

1. Tell us who do you think you are – My name is Ho Joon, you can call me Ho-J or Louis and I am from Korea. I have been here about 5 years.

2. Share your top 3 concerns about your freshman year at Baruch College and explain why – First of all, getting good GPA is one of my concerns about my freshman year. Now, I am not sure that whether I am doing right or wrong.  Second of all, another concern is relationship with professors. Because of my personalities, not talkative and shy, I have hard time to be friendly with professors. I should talk more. Finally, I concern that possibility of cutting out from Dean’s scholarship list. Subject that I hate the most in my life is history. However, I have Sociology, History, and Political Science in this semester. so, I think getting above 3.2 GPA is not going to be easy….
3. So far, what do you think will make your Baruch College experience different from your high school experience? – Hmm… maybe relationship?. Education?.. or… connection? are going to make my Baruch College experience different from my high school experience. I have attended baruch college about a month. However, I have felt that great GPA and relationship with friends or people are the most important thing in college experience. In high school, we actually do not need to concern study more than college. We could go to see teachers and please that we can take a quiz or test again and that worked out. But, in college, it does not. it is more like alone. Nobody is going to say or push me to do something and there are no excuses. So…relationships and education are going to make my college experience different from that of high school. What I think the most important in life are relationship and work (it could be study for students).

4. How do you think your first year at College will change you- I think my first year at College will change me as like an adult. Because everything is in my hand and I have do myself. More pressure on me…….. So, I think first year at college change me as adult.
