1. Tell us who you think YOU are!
2. Share your top 3 concerns about your freshman year at Baruch College and explain why.
3. So far, what do you think will make your Baruch College experience different from your high school experience?
4. How do you think your first year at College will change you?
1: I’m lazy and selfish boy whose trying to grow up. Work as my schedule is my responsibility but I can’t. However, I want to change myself. I want to work hard and succeed in college. And I think I am smart because, without studying, I got GPA close to 4.0 in high school and did not bad in SAT.
2: Things that I concern for now are GPA, attendance, and Time scheduling. To be honest, I don’t think I ever try hard to study since I came to America. And I took few quiz in college, of course without studying, and I got scores around 60’s… I want to get GPA above 3.6. I guess it is time to study. About attendance, I used to absent like half or one-third of school in high school. I thought if I go college I won’t absent because I can schedule my classes. However, Baruch gave me block schedule(I couldn’t choose any block, they just give me one) and I have class at 9:30AM. Because I used to be lazy in high school, I missed that class twice and came late everyday. I need to fit in my schedule. Third, time scheduling, since I have to study hard, I guess I need to make a schedule for myself. Because without schedule, I can’t avoid myself from hang out.
3: To be honest, I do not see a lot difference between high school and college for now. Maybe less classes but more tired? Therefore, I guess, I can’t answer this one now.
4: I think my first year at College will make me swot. Too much works to do. Well, guess it is not that bad to be swot once in my life, especially in college.
My name is shijie Tang. I`m a Baruch college freshman and new to this college. I believe that Baruch college will be a good starting for me. Im willing to do my best in this college and I wanna be a good accountant in the future. My GPA will be the first top concern in my student life. I think every student care GPA really much. GPA could effect many result of my student life and future career. The second and third concern would be the relationship with my friends and my profs. Having a good relationship with friends or profs would make my college life happier. The college life depends more on my own work. Unlike in college, high school always focus on teacher and teacher will tell us how to do everything. In college, for example,we have to research many things by our own. I think the first of college will let me know more about how the college life will be and how the future society will be. It will change my view of the society before and lead me to a new step mentally.
1. Tell us who you think YOU are!
I’m Hristiyan Manolov from Bulgaria, a new student to Baruch College. Very often I’m concentrated but if i get a little bit out of track it is hard for me to get back into it. If i put something on my mind i will do everything possible to do so.
2. Share your top 3 concerns about your freshman year at Baruch College and explain why.
The first and most important concern for me is to keep up my GPA so i can continue on with my scholarship. That is probably also one of the hardest things to achieve in college as a whole. Another concern is that I establish a good record for my self. I would like to join clubs and even the USG, the problem is i have no idea what is good for me and my future at the moment. At last I would like to meet new friends that I can relate to.
3. So far, what do you think will make your Baruch College experience different from your high school experience?
So far my Baruch experience is nothing compared to my High School experience. In college the people are way more mature and normal. One gets a feeling of how the real world works and it is preparing me for the future. Classes and assignments are way harder and you have to work for yourself not for the teacher basically.
4. How do you think your first year at College will change you?
I’m pretty sure it will make me a more responsible person, and someone that would take life into his hands. I hope that after this first year i will see what is the effort that i have to put into school so i get the results that i would like.
who do you think you are?
1. I’m a girl from China. actually, i don’t know how am i. It’s because i change all the time and i don’t have passion for anythings. my family and my friend alway ask me:”what do you really want?” or “what do you really like”, and my answer alway been “nothing”. What i want is just have a peaceful life.
2. After i become a student in Baruch college i concern few things. First, what major i like the most. Because i have no passion for anything, i haven’t decide the major yet. I’m worry about my future, therefore i need to find out what i’m really interest. Second, how can i do to keep up the GPA. That’s the hardest thing to do in the college, because in college we have many “free time” and limit class material form the profs, therefore i need to manage my time to study more. The last thing i concern is make more friends. I used to have many friends but most of them not in New York. I can’t tell them to come back, so i need to make new friends.
3. I think the college is more independent. For example, the teacher will not “force” you to do the homework, if you didn’t do it, they just drop your grade.
4. I think the first year in college will make me more independent, because i need to do everything on my own, and make all the decisions.
1. My name is Kar, and i was born here in the USA in Manhattan. I am a a freshmen in Baruch college majoring in business, accountant. I think of myself as a very sociable person, that is once you get to know me. I am the one that usually breaks up a tense situation either joking around or suggesting an solution. To me I think I am a very enjoyable person to have around but that is my own opinion of myself.
2. My first concern being a freshmen would be starting off college right, like joining the right clubs that could benefit me and keeping up a good gpa (3.5+) and deciding my future classes and what I should take to acquire my degree faster. My second concern is thinking about my future workload and how much stress that would put on me. Then there is the fear of dropping or failing a class due to the stress. My third concern is joining a fraternity. I currently want to join a business fraternity so they can help me improve myself in the future since I majoring in business.
3. My favorite part about college life is that i have the same class twice a week instead of five times and I have friday off. Also there is the large amount of reading I get in college compared to high school along with the amount of studying i did. There is also the free gym membership that I really like and the free oovoo account. Then there is also the large source of information I have access too across the street from my classes. From now on writing a paper would be a lot more easier and comfortable by just crossing the street. The library is also a something I really like about Baruch, it has a really nice interior, it is quite well the top floor at least, and I can borrow laptops for my work.
4. Well my first year in college is changing from high school to college so i’m sure that would be a huge change to me. Then there is the fact that my perspective of reading and studying changed coming to college. I do a lot more reading and reading over the same reading twice or three times just to get a clear view and my studying habits changed a lot. I studied about three times more then i did then in high school. Probably since i only have the same class twice a week so the professor goes over a lot more material then usual. Also meeting people that are interested in the same major I am interested in also is also a good way to start my network early.
1. My name is Iyana Abrams and I believe I’m an optimistic athletic individual.
2. My first concern of being a freshman is being able to balance out my studies and basketball. The second concern is getting to know people and become more assertive. The last concern of mine is staying on top of all the reading I have to do.
3. I feel that I will have way more responsibilities and be more independent. I also feel that the new people in my life whether on my team or those I have met in school will give me new experiences and stories that will last a life time. I believe that being at Baruch will give me more job and intern opportunities and will most defiantly help me on my networking skills.
4. My first year at college will be my coming of age when it comes to Baruch. I will know the rights and wrongs the fun places to go the dangerous place to avoid. The clubs I didn’t go out for and the organization I wasn’t part of. I will have learned the different routes to and from school. I will have a since of being in Baruch and want to help the upcoming freshman that will be entering our school.
I am Samantha Cortes and I am curious, open, enthusiastic and shy. One of my main concerns for my first year at Baruch is I am worried I will become overwhelmed with the work. I’m also worried I will be bad at manging my time. I am concerned that I won’t have any idea what my major will be.
College will be different from high-school because I am going to be more independent. The work will also be more challenging. There are also many club oppurtunities available at Baruch which I’m excited for.
I this k my first year at college will make me more social and add more experiences to my life.
Who do you think you are?
It’s a pretty hard question to answer. Basically I’m alex malenchenko, I don’t know where I’m headed in Baruch and hopefully ill major something in science, because right now I feel like I’m in the wrong place but ill make the best of it being in Baruch isn’t the worst thing
1. I think I am a friendly person to get along with. I am willing to help others. I think I am a good friend to you if you are nice to me. I think I can be funny if I get to know you well. Also if I know you well I can be really loud, I mean good loud.
2. I am concerned anbout having good grades and being there everyday for college. I want to do well in all my colleges. I hear t hat college is hard so thats why I am concerned. Also my other concern is finishing college in time because I also hear that most people don’t graduate on time.
3. The amount of test we have makes the big difference to our grades in college when compared to the millions of tests we have in high school. Also in college even though weare paying if we have re than four absences it is bad. In high school we had to get to 18 to get a notice sent home. Not even.
4. First year of college will change my studying habits and work habits. It’s like I barely have time to fool around, but I do it anyway because I am big time procrastinator. I think college is going to change my procastininating ways. I procrastinate a lot.
