=)
can it be just a list for part B?
SURE! answer however makes You comfortable!!
A. Tell us who you think YOU are!!
I was born in New York. I am an outgoing person with my friends and people I am comfortable with. A bit shy around strangers and highly alerted. I tend to take leadership at some points but I am lazy at times.
B. Share your top 3 concerns about your freshman year at Baruch College and explain why.
My first concern is my grade. I am worried about not getting a 4.0 gpa in every class because the classes are a bit difficult. My second concern is my laziness. Im afraid my laziness will kick in, because it had happened in the past semesters. My last concern is about getting to class on time. It’s hard to get to the next class when its a different building. The elevators, escalators, stairs and halls are almost always crowded with people. It is a bit challenging to get through those crowds.
C. So far, what do you think will make your Baruch College experience different from your high school experience?
There will more access to academic opportunities, internships and leaderships in Baruch College. As an individual, more responsibility will be build upon.
D. How do you think your first year at College will change you?
I will go through a point of realization. I will learn the consequences of wrongdoing. I will become wise in making decisions and mature in my behavior.
A. Tell us who you think YOU are!!
I am a regular Peruvian girl, who came thinking only about herself, I consider myself a little selfish and competitive. If I see someone better at something I though I was good at, I’ll try my best to overpass that person. I tent to laugh a lot, sometimes for no reason at all. I just enjoy making people laugh. my dream was always different to what it seems my future is going to be now. I always wanted to be a translator and travel around the world speaking Spanish, English, Japanese and why not, a new language. But my parents, as conservative as they are, don’t consider this as a career. So I had to choose a career I would enjoy doing but also that my parents would approve. “:I guess a business career is not as good as being a doctor but it pays the bills,” my mom said. this is why I came to Baruch. I want to be a successful business woman n dedicate some time to learn new languages. Maybe, in the future, when I become independent enough, I can start doing what I’m passionate about and translate as a job.
B. Share your top 3 concerns about your freshman year at Baruch College and explain why
1. The location is too far from my house, it takes me around one hour n a half to get to Baruch.
2. People seem to be more open in the way they think or act than in high school, I can’t even keep a long conversation with some people
3. Classes seem harder and some teachers are hard to understand.
C. So far, what do you think will make your Baruch College experience different from your high school experience?
I want to join as many things as i can, a lot of clubs and a lot of activities, go to all sport competitions. also I’m becoming less of a procrastinator since there is too much to do and so little time.
D. How do you think your first year at College will change you?
I will be more responsible and learn how to manage my time better than in high school
Idk we had a format.
Hopefully this is another free write. This assignment is pretty random and I never expected, so it might sound rushed. There might be some grammatical mistakes as well, since I’ll treat it as a free write. There, I left a nice little not for the reader in the intro. Who do I think I am? I don’t know what I am or what I want to be. I thought I knew as a kid, but those dreams seem foolish now. The economy makes it hard for a man to pursue his dreams. At a time like this people can only go after jobs that will be strong enough for them to support themselves.
I wanted to be an archaeologist or a paleontologist. What kid didn’t like dinosaurs? They just didn’t know that there was a profession in studying dinosaurs. If they did, they probably couldn’t pronounce it. I might be wrong. After all when I was a kid I would be able to name incredibly difficult to pronounce dinosaurs. I wanted to travel and learn about all the rich cultures out there. I wanted to study Native Americans and their stories and legends. I wanted to discover the unknown and share it with the world. In my opinion, my goals define who I am. So far I haven’t achieved anything; therefore, I have no identity. Right now I’m a kid who is a half a decade behind his time. I am not familiar with computers or the next high tech thing. I don’t know how to make a PowerPoint or an Excel Spreadsheet. I’m accident prone. I make stupid mistakes, far more than the average man. I’m not as intelligent as I thought I was. However, I can be quick-witted. I can be reliable and responsible. I’m not that shy kid in my fifth grade class anymore. I’ve got a voice and a passion for writing. I have my flaws and I have my strengths and that is who I am.
My top three concerns as a freshman are buying textbooks, not knowing what I want to be, and not knowing if I am wasting my time in the wrong school. The Baruch experience is definitely different from high school. It means four days a week of classes, grades are much more important than in high school, and attendance is a lot stricter. I really don’t know how my first year of college will be. I’m expecting a lot of confusion, trouble paying for stuff, and trouble finding a job. I don’t know what I want to pursue as a career. If I can’t make up my mind, I’ll just transfer to Hunter for liberal arts major. I don’t even know about the college transfer process. I also would like some insight on majors, such as what careers are available from certain majors. I don’t even know what careers come out of the liberal arts major. I just know it’s a major for the undecided.
Who Am I?
Who am I? Well, I could tell you I am me or rather you want a more specific answer. So I would tell you I am Eric Lew, but that not the answer your probably looking for. However, what define who we are, here what I think I am. I am a student, an artist, a weirdo, a music enthusiast, a gamer, and a bunch of other thing which I don’t really feel like listing. So, I guess that’s what I am
Life in college is different so many concerns pop up as being a freshman in college. The first concern which I find important is whether I am gonna pass or not. Pretty sure, that what most people are concern about or it just could be me. The whole point of taking class is to be sure that you pass them. Second concern is fitting in, being in new school comes with it new environment so you want to find what your role is in that environment. The last concern that I have is will I be able to handle the workload. College produces a lot of work so I really want to keep up with it so I can pass.
I say college is really different from high school. I mean there people and classes and food and clubs and well etc,but I would say it really different. The school is bigger than my high school. There are more stair to walk up or just take the elevator if u prefer. There a gaps between my schedule which I can just relax. The workload is a little more than high school. There also a lot of freedom, as in people don’t really tell you what to do ,but rather you have to do for yourself.
College actually has already changed me. I’ve actually became more sociable in perspective of the classroom. Like before, I wouldn’t say a word to like anyone, but know it is college and you just gotta take risk. So if they are gonna force me to talk I might as well speak my mind.
B.
I think in college I could choose my own major, and study what I like.
I would also meet the people with same interest, and hope they are as interested in the major as I am.
Probably I can sneak into some classes to see what other courses are like, since the teachers are not care much about how many students they have.
Maybe in the future I can join a game club, since high school there is no game club, so I would wish I could find one.
I can also change the classes with my will, so I can have a perfectly good schedule to fit into my daily life.
Maybe I can even push all the classes into two days, so I don’t need to go to school every single day and I can use these time to sleep in my comfy home!
A – I don’t think, I know that I’m a mediocre student but has the potential to do better. I am a son, a brother and a friend.
B – My concerns about freshman year at Baruch is probably, the commuting, my procrastination, and my grade. Commuting to Baruch takes forever, but its whatever, I’m used to it. Procrastination on the other hand, ehh… I’ve been doing it all of senior year in high school. I know college is the BIG step towards life so I have to get that straighten up. My grades will be affected because of my procrastination, but I’ll fix that up.
C – High school used to be a 10 minute walk, but now going to Baruch, takes around an hour and a half. However, there is a lot more freedom in college; I enjoy that. So, the commute part definitely makes the experience different from high school.
D – First year of college is already making me more efficient in time management. There are a lot more responsibilities than how it was in high school.
My name is Titus Chan. I am just an ordinary kid, nothing that special. I am easy to get along with. I love the city of New York. In my spare time, I like looking up special events that the city has to offer. I like finding good places to eat around New York. During the weekends I work and go to church. I work as a swimming instructor and teaches kids age 6 and up. I live in Brooklyn and went to high school in Brooklyn. I attended Midwood High School. I was quite an active student in high school. I was part of the swimming team and lacrosse team, join clubs such as SING and Key Club, and participated in Spring Musical and Foreign Exchange trips. I love theater, I am hoping to minor in theater later in college.
One of my top concerns in Baruch is diversity. I want to meet people with different backgrounds and learn about them. Another concern about Baruch is that it doesn’t have the field I want to study. I want to do a hospitality major and I know Baruch does not offer that. And my last concern about Baruch is getting to know teacher. My lectures classes contain many students and because of that I am concern that the teacher and student relationship wouldn’t be as strong.
Things that might will make my Baruch college experience differ from my high school experience that in Baruch we can find help from the centers. The writing center and the math center look useful and I want to take advantage of it. Another thing that would make Baruch different from high school is the 24/ 7 access to the library and the access of the gyms.
The first college year would probably make me more mature. It will teach me how to time manage and stay focus. It will also teach me how to study with my peers and work together.
A. I know who I am. I don’t have to think about who I am because I am me. I am Christopher and nothing will change that. I don’t understand the question, unless anyone had amnesia recently they should be clear on who they are.
B. My top 3 concerns are transferring, Job search, and getting out of 2100T. Baruch may offer great business programs and facilities but it is still a commuter school. I want to try the true college experience in dorm life. I want to get away from my parents and become truly independent. Job search is my second concern because I want a steady income which I can live off of. Getting out of 2100T is a concern because I feel I can do a lot better. Although I do enjoy the easy conversations and group discussion about social problems of the past and present, the class still gives off an ESL feel to it.
C. I really don’t see a difference between the Baruch College experience and the high school experience. Everyone seems to be doing the same things just that clubs are now bigger. I think the only way for me to get the best out of the Baruch College experience is to use their facilities to help me transfer.
D. I was hoping to be more independent and meet more diverse people but Baruch hasn’t really shown the freedom that I had hoped. The three absence rule for every class is truly ridiculous. Three days of being absent will automatically give you a F that is just ridiculous. I always thought College would be a business transaction you pay and you can participate. Whether you choose to study the course with the professors or just study independently should be a choice. The only thing that should be mandatory is the final which shows mastery in the subject. This is the real world no one teaches or preaches to you about things you should know. The ability to look up information and to do work independently is what really matters.
A- Who am I? I am me. I am Qi Lin. A 18 years old kid who was came from China four years ago. Nothing special about me.
B- The first concern about my college life is that if I can pass the class or not. I think everyone had concern about this. Second concern is my major, Im still have not choose my major yet. The last concern is about my writing skill, because im really suck at it.
c- Baruch college is really different from high school. less class time but more homework to do. Also baruch is a very big school, many clubs and activities. You have more freedom in collge than when you were in high school.
D- Collge really changed me. I used to walk to my school. And now, I spend about 45 minuntes from my house to collge. Also no more free lunch.
A. I’m Ling, and I’m just a regular college freshman. I am a little competitive, and I want everything to be done perfectly. Also I can’t stand been messy, everything has to be neat and organize. I can be very lazy sometimes, and wait till the last minute to so something.
B. My top 3 concerns about my freshman year at Baruch are to get to class on time, pass all my classes, and get use to the college life. Since I don’t live near the school, it takes me approximately an hour to get to college, and sometimes I can be late to class because of the problems with the train or other reasons. I also want to pass all the classes since in most classes the teachers are hard to understand, and this make me feel nervous about the future exams. And lastly, I needs to get use to the college life, because college is more free, and you need to manage your times carefully.
C. In college there’s more freedom, but the class time is longer. It’s also more serious and important, whereas in high school, it more relax and easy going. In high school, teachers will tell you to take notes and make sure that you know everything, but in college it’s up to you to do it yourself. In college it’s important to pay attention in class and take notes, because the professors won’t tell you what to do.
D. I think my first year at Baruch will make me become more independent, because I’ll have to learn to do everything on my own. Like to manage my time more efficiently, so I’ll have time to study and get a job.You can’t rely on others so much, because they are not going to help you every time when you needs something. I’ll also become more sociable, because it’s important to express your opinion in class and get to know the people around you.
A. Tell us who you think YOU are!!
I’m Mikey and I’m an 18 year old Korean from the suburbs of New York. Well to be honest, I don’t think I need to discuss who I think I am because I know who am I and I’m fine with who I am. But basically in a nutshell, I’m pretty angst-y, and I love depressing songs.
B. Share your top 3 concerns about your freshman year at Baruch College and explain why.
1. To get the f— out of English 2100T. Honestly, not to brag, I came from one of New York City’s specialized/magnet high schools and my High School English classes were much more rigorous than English 2100T. I just hope that my professor sees that I really don’t belong in any “extra help needed” classes.
2. I really want to maintain a solid 3.5 or higher GPA. So basically I need to keep managing my time wisely everyday.
3. I really need to start making more friends.
C. So far, what do you think will make your Baruch College experience different from your high school experience?
Well, dare I say, my high school prepared me for my college experience. Everyone in my high school went through numerous days of all-nighter studies and study group sessions. But the only difference is that, while we had our guidance counselors and other academic advisers to guide us along our high school career, it’s really all on us to make the right decision and stuff. So basically I just need to make couple of checkpoints in my life and during those checkpoints, I just got to reevaluate and make smart choices about the future.
D. How do you think your first year at College will change you?
I’ll have wider network when it comes to finding work and internship opportunities and I will be in couple of clubs to grow and enrich myself. And definitely making more new friends –that I really need.
A. I am a shy Chinese kid who loves to have fun and extremely lazy.
B. My top three concerns about freshman year are that my lazy funk from high school will continue into college. I was lazy trough out high school, even though I could do everything I procrastinated and had to rush to finish everything and I couldn’t produce anything good for a good grade. Another thing that I’m concerned about is getting into shape and staying that way because I’m so lazy and don’t push myself to do it.
C. There’s not much different between Baruch and my high school Brooklyn Tech. There’s more freedom though in college. I think Baruch’s like Tech because Tech had the same packed hallways, packed elevators, A LOT of Asians, etc. What’s different though is the people and the experience as well as a clean start so that I can start new from what happened in high school. I would also like to meet more new people even though I’m shy.
D. I think college will make me more mature and force me to make decisions and changes to help me become more successful for the future.
A. I’m a Chinese boy who came to America 6 years ago that loves to play basketball.
B. My first concern is how can I get a good grade in all my classes. Next Is when I chose my next semester classes are there sets avaliable for me in those easy classes.
C. In college no one will force me to do anything, it’s all about what Myself.
D. Time management is the biggest lesson I learn from college.
A. Tell us who you think YOU are!!
I’m Alex came from a small country – Moldova, so i don’t like New York because it’s a big city. I like small cities with a lot of parks and nature. I think I’m friendly but I don’t like to talk much. I’m really careful with choosing friends so I don’t have a lot of friends.
B. Share your top 3 concerns about your freshman year at Baruch College and explain why.
1. I don’t like my eng class. Basically because i think this 3 hour class is pointless. We can do all our work like in an hour but the professor is stretching it. Also we spend a lot of time talking about useless things.
2. I need to manage my time better, because now I don’t have time to do things I used to in high school.
3.I’m undecided and it’s really bothering me.
C. So far, what do you think will make your Baruch College experience different from your high school experience?
Homework 😀 schedule, almost everything)
D. How do you think your first year at College will change you?
It changed me already I never late to classes, I’m doing most of my homework. I hope I’ll become more mature and responsible.
A. I am yaqian. I was come from china 3 years ago. I am a shy Chinese girl. Also I am a lazy girl.
B.1)My concerns about freshman year was everyday I need to wake up early and sometime I was later for first class, because I need to spend 1 and half hour to take train to school. It is too far from my house.
2)About my grade, because I want to pass all class.
3)about my Major, because I don’t have idea which major is suitable for me.
C.Baruch college is different from high school. In the college we need to write a lot of essay and homework. Also the class time is longer than high school.
D.I think college will change me, make me more independent.
A) Most people say the positive stuff about them. For example people will say that they are nice, outgoing, smart, loyal, dedicated, and funny. Although I do have these qualities, I am not quick to skip over my flaws. I admit it, I am extremely hard on myself because I feel that I can do so much better even though I may have probably given my 110% in something. I always want things done my way or the highway. Despite the fact that I attempt to act all high and mighty about things, I am probably the most sensitive person you would have ever seen, like I cry during sad movies . Depending on my days, I see the glass half empty or half full. Explaining my “flaws” just goes to show how much of an “real” person I am. I consider myself to be a very funny person, so if I have not made you laugh or giggle then I guess you’re the problem, not me If a person is to have a bad reputation that I know of, I tend put all of that aside and see the good in them, because after all, God did make us good, well me at least o.O
B,C & D.) The main concern that I have in Baruch College is to not be successful. Like not being to pick the classes that I need to graduate, since my sister failed to take a certain class for her nursing program and now she is graduating one year late HAHA jk jk jk. I don’t ever want to fail a class none-the-less a quiz or test. This college experience so far is way different from my high school one. I feel like I am the minority now, professors aren’t going to nag to me if I am slacking off, I have to learn to budget my time wisely, I have to do a lot of things on my own, and last but not certainly least, I am starting new in a place where I know absolutely no one. Regardless of my circumstances, I definitely feel that by the end of this year I will change from being this shy person to a more extroverted one. I will adjust to this hectic college lifestyle of staying up late doing homework and waking up early enough to catch my stupid bus filled with loud and ghetto people, from the Bronx of course
A. My name is Ying Ding,I’m a chinese girl, i’m reaaly shy, sometimes i don’t like speak to the stranger, I like NY very much, but i feel comfortable when i get in college. I really want make more friends and help each other in the school.
B
1.MATH, I’m really bad in math, maybe I will trying to get a tutor in the school
2.grammar, bad grammar, after i write an eaasy, there is a lot of grammar mistakes
3.community groups, i’m shy, but i really want to have more friends
C.
FRIENDSHIP~~~I dont know much people in Baruch, sometimes i feel very lonely and helpless. So from now on i have to speak more and make more friend in college. make my community group even bigger
D
My first year in colloge will be very hard because my ENGLISH ~~, but I will try my best to do it
Hi, my name is Andy Seo. I am Korean. Most importantly I am a bear. Above else, i think I’m a pretty good guy to hang around with. When the question “Who am I” comes to mind, I think that im just a really outgoing person. I don’t like sports; i highly doubt that im considered an active person. However, i used to do some Korean sport called Tae Kwon Do (태권도). That was years ago. Now, I’m a big guy walking around Baruch College. When i first came to Baruch College, the most concerned thought i had was that; firstly, what am going to do with a college with a male to female percentage so high. Secondly, what if i don’t do well during my freshmen year? All these concerns roamed around inside my head but i was wrong. Everything seemed to be going smoothly. So far I think that the Baruch College experience is without a doubt different from my high school experience. I believe that College is similar to High School, yet you as a student have more options to do what you like and have the freedom to do whatever for your advantage. I think with my mentality , the first year in college will be fun yet difficult at times. As the years go on, i as a young adult think that its my duty to listen carefully and follow along similarly to the seniors in this school, then i will finish my first year and continue to the next.

Wow, that’s really interesting! I wonder how this differs from what I study at my hagwon. Star Study Academy 725 River Rd, Suite 52, Edgewater, NJ 07020 (201) 943-1050 starstudyacademy.com is where my family and I study english as a second language.

i really appreciate it.
WHO AM I?!
A. I’m Samson Fu. I’m an ordinary 18 year old Chinese/Tibetan kid who was born and raised in Queens, New York.
B. My main concern for my first year here at Baruch College is that I’m going to fall short of a 3.8 gpa. Also, I’m going to have to cope with the workload from school while working 35 hours a week at my part-time job. I think that’s going to be the most difficult part of my freshman year but personally, I feel as if it’s the only time to do so seeing how the proceeding years will becoming increasingly stressful. Lastly, I hope I eventually become involved in clubs/teams; maybe not my freshman year, but eventually.
C. There’s a major difference between my current college experiences as opposed to that of high school. Here at Baruch, I have a schedule that fits my lifestyle and it helps me maximize my productivity whereas high school was 7, long hours of school 5 days a week.
D. I think my first year in college will definitely change me as a person. In college, people must really assume responsibility and use their time wisely. I plan on learning the time management skills I lacked in high school.
@Mikey, I completely agree with you. I graduated senior year with undoubtedly the most difficult english teacher in the school. But it’s only one semester, we’ll survive.
