A. I have learned that procrastination is very deadly and harmful to your health. From the bad experiences and side effects (such as falling asleep on stranger’s shoulders on the train, oversleeping on the train, halluncinations, headaches, irritability, body numbness, etc) that I have encountered from procrastination, I vow to never procrastinate ever again in my academic life (that is why this comment will probably be the first posted). I think I have pulled more all-nighters in just one semester of Baruch than the 4 years of my high school career.
I was not really happy with the “block schedules” where we were forced to take certain classes and did not have the ability to choose classes ourselves during the first semester of college. To make matters worst, I’m not really a humanities type of person the materials I’ve been exposed to wasn’t exciting. I think Baruch should decrease the amount of liberal arts classes required and allow students to take classes in their intended major as early as freshmen year so students would be eligible to obtain internships to get the experience earlier and know if the path they are going to is the correct one. Aother problem most students would agree that did not lived up to their expectations would be course registration. The way course registration operates is very unfair for the lowerclassmen. I mean students are paying for their education, so shouldn’t they be allowed to choose their classes and professors?
My experience at Baruch College has met my expectations. I knew that my classes would not be easy but if I worked hard enough I would still be able to get good grades. I expected the commuter atmosphere, even though I dorm in the city, it isn’t the same as living on campus, but I was still able to meet lots of new people and make really good friends, which did exceed my expectations. I think that my first semester at Baruch went really well. The semester flew by and it is surprising how fast it went but I think I did well in all of my classes, maybe not so well in sociology because my professor stinks, but overall I’m happy with my grades and the effort I put in. If I could restart my first semester and do it all over again I would have studied for that pol sci test I had even if it was the day after my birthday. I would have also not stressed myself out than I needed to by leaving things to the last minute, but overall I’m content with how the semester went. Since I started at Baruch college, I feel as if I have become more independent, by living on my own, paying for most of my things, as well as experiencing a different learning atmosphere, I was able to realize that relying on myself is better than waiting for others to help me. I also learned not to take everything so seriously and realize that being shy and kept to myself is not a good way to experience college if I want to have great memories and great friends.
A. However, I must admit I do enjoy waking up for school at 9:30AM instead of 5:30 to 6AM in high school. I also enjoy the fact that the city is your playground/campus. It was an enjoyable and fun experience exploring the city during my break with many “hidden gems”.
Overall, I would say that Baruch College has been a decent experience for me.
B. I hope I did well during the first semester at Baruch College, but I really do not want to say anything further because I might jinx my grades. I feel that the rule, “studying 3 hours for every credit hour” is highly exagerrated. It is more of studying smart and managing your time instead of studying 24/7. Some professors have specific formats and as long as you’re familiar with their system, you do not have to do everything to obtain a good grade. For example, some professors might require to buy the book, but reading it is not really mandatory because their exams are based off of class notes.
C. If I had the ability to go back in time and change my first semester, I would definitely have worked harder and not procrastinated my work to last minute, but what’s done is done and thinking about my past mistakes will not change them. It is best to be focuse for the future and hopefully use my past mistakes as motivation and learn from them.
D. I felt that the first semester of college allowed me to open my eyes. I have learned my lesson that it is better to go through the pain of hard work than to face the pain of regret in life and sleep deprivation.
I hope this post enlightens some of the current and future procrastinators out there!
A. It was pretty much what i expected, i had to write a lot of essays, but had more freedom. The commute was a pain too, but i got to do homework, or get some much needed beauty sleep. I didn’t expect to have so many resources at my disposal constantly, like the computer labs, textbooks, and laptop rentals. The professors aren’t as friendly as high school teachers. It gets pretty stressful with some professors.
B. I think it went pretty well, i think I’m doing good in most of my classes, except for English which i might get a C, i was able to keep up with most of the work, and have plenty of time to relax. I was hoping for a 4.0 GPA from day one, but i kinda wasn’t making it after like the first test. I was hoping that i wouldn’t be late to classes like i was in high school, but that didn’t work out either. I got flagged by the Advisement office for that.
C. If i could i would’ve dropped English right away, or took another professor i definitely would have. Maybe found some more time to hit the gym.
D. Not much change except maybe i got a little bit more serious with my school work, maybe I don’t mess around as much as in high school.
a. Tell us how your experience at Baruch College has lived up to your expectations? Not lived up to your expectations? Exceeded your expectations?

At first, I enjoy coming to baruch but that was only in the beginning of the school year. As time went by, I really dislike the long commute train ride to school and from school. I feel like attending baruch college is the same as going to highschool, except bigger. The one thing I like most about college though is the amount of freedom we have. I am glad all my teachers this semester are nice. I didn’t know that it would be this hectic towards finals week. All the teachers pile up work after work. I mean, how come they could not spread out the amount of work from the beginning of the school year. I was hoping to get multipule choice exams but out of my 5 classes, none of them gave me multiple choice exams. All essays or long responses.
b. How well do you think your first semester at Baruch College went?

Well, my first semester wasn’t so hectic so I guess it is fine. In a way, I am glad I did not go away for college because all my other friends are doing bad in school. I guess they are unable to balance their time out.
c. What would you do differently during your first semester is you could do it all again?

I will not want to do everything over. There is way too much work.
d. How have you changed since you started at Baruch College?
I feel like i have become more independent. I am actually studying more. I realize that if you don’t study in college, your teacher will not give you the grade you want. I realize college is not like highschool.
1. Baruch has definitely lived up to my epectations ad college in general. I imagined college and baruch to be very communal and to meet people from all over the city and even all over the world, which i have done. It’s been really fun.
2. My first semester was pretty average. It wasnt amazing and it wasnt terrible. I’ve been doing pretty okay in all my classes and have had good to really bad teachers(english). But overall i couldnt complain.
3. If i coild do my first semester over, i would probably not leave everything until the last minute. It is not the best idea!! leaving everything until the last minute especially papers and tests, only creates more stress and depression, and freaking out!
4. I’ve become much more mature and repsonsible. I’ve learned that a teacher doesnt have to hassle you in order for you to get a paper in. Being responsible in crucial in getting a good grade and achieving success in a class.
a. To be honest, my experience at Baruch far exceeded my expectations. I expected it to be boring but it was very enjoyable. When I found out that freshmen can only choose a block program, I was pretty mad. I wanted to decide my own classes and time. However, I came to realize how fortunate I was. I came to meet great people and had fun throughout the year.
b. BAD. I can’t really put it to any other words besides this. Even though I knew the consequences of procrastination and being lazy, I did it anyway. Based on my calculations, my grades are all around the C’s which is going to screw my college experience. As a result, I predict myself struggling in the future to fill in the crack on my GPA.
c. Oh how I wish I can go back in time… First of all, I would actually start STUDYING on time and pay attention in class. Second, I would have joined a club as soon as the year began (aside from the “Go Home Club”). Finally, I would start to be more active and find connections.
d. Physically, I gained weight from eating out every day (fast food, fast food everywhere). I also started having erratic sleep patterns and waves of paranoia (of failing). But not everything was bad. I started to think more about my future and found more confidence in myself.
And here is a bunch of filler words that I need to type because it did not reach the minimum quota of 250 words.
A. Baruch has definitely lived up to my expectations. I’ve anticipated so long for the freedom we have in college and a communal environment to meet new friends. I’ve met some great friends(thanks to the block schedule) and had a fun semester……….. Just as I was enjoying my life, FINALS hit me so hard!! I’ve never had anything this challenge that I needed to pull two all-nighters to accomplish them. But I can’t complain. It was becasue of my procrastination. I deserved it. So I’m here vowing that I’ll never procrastinate anymore!! (But no guarantee tho:)
B. The grades aren’t up yet, but I’ve evaluated myself. Some courses are pretty challenging (to me), but I was able to maintain good grades. I have to say that I didn’t really try my BEST, and I have to blame it on the senior year in high school, it really messed me up!! It literally slowed down the way my brain functions. Luckily, I was able to revive my brain cells (a little bit). So I’ll try to do better next semester.
C. If I could do it all over again, I would stop procrastinating (maybe a little bit, but NOT this much). So I wouldn’t’ve to pull all-nighters, which were really harmful to my health!!
D. I’ve become much more responsible in a sense that I remembered all of the deadlines for handing in the works. I really improved my oral communicating skills a lot because I’m in an environment that surrounded by friendly peers. So I wouldn’t be (too) afraid of speaking to either the entire class or just having normal convos. Aside from these, one thing that I changed the most is that I ACTUALLY STUDIED!
@Vincent Reality hits you hard bro.
a. Tell us how your experience at Baruch College has lived up to your expectations? Not lived up to your expectations? Exceeded your expectations?
i think my experience at Baruch so far has kind of not lived up my expectations. i was planning to find a part-time job after i went to college. then there came tons of readings which totally ruin my perfect plan. All my friends went to SUNY are gaining weight in the freshment year, but i am still skinny.cause the lunch in school and out of school are not healthy and expensive. anyway, i met some good friends in my first semester(i think the BLOCK system should be kept until Junior year. It would save a lot time on registering classes) overall, it is a pretty good experience for me 🙂
b. How well do you think your first semester at Baruch College went?
I did OKAY. At the beginning of this semester i was working really hard and stay up every night reading books. then i got lazy like many people did.. anyway, i would work on my finals now and hopefully got some good grades.
c. What would you do differently during your first semester is you could do it all again?
“If I could do it all over again, I would stop procrastinating (maybe a little bit, but NOT this much). So I wouldn’t’ve to pull all-nighters, which were really harmful to my health!!” quote from Vincent. i dont why, but procrastination is just like a flu, and it will infect everyone.
d. How have you changed since you started at Baruch College?
i was too shy to speak up(although i am still pretty shy tho), but now, thanks to my friends, i feel more confident. moreover, i realize that my college life all depends on myself and i need to be more responsible to myself.
a. Tell us how your experience at Baruch College has lived up to your expectations. Not lived up to your expectations? Exceeded your expectations?
My experience at Baruch has lived up to my expectations; it was pretty much how I imagined my college life would be like. I did expect the work load to be heavier in college, but it was the complete opposite. (I’m not complaining though!) The only time the teachers really piled on the work was during finals week. Other than that, the teachers didn’t really go too crazy with assigning homework, except history, but those quizzes weren’t that bad. Procrastination really bit me in the buttocks though, so my college experience was like my high school one, but better in its own ways. I’ve met some cool new peers this semester and got a chance to surround myself in the city life. It was great overall!
b. How well do you think your first semester at Baruch College went?
I’m pretty confident I did well in my classes, with the exception of one or two, even though I feel I didn’t put as much effort as I should have. I’ve been aiming for above a 3.7 GPA, so I’m hoping I did just that for this semester. The teachers I had were all lenient and easy-going, so I hope that works out to my advantage.
c. What would you do differently during your first semester if you could do it all again?
Oh hohoho.. I WOULD DEFINITELY. NOT. PROCRASTINATE. I cannot stress this enough and I’m 100% sure everyone here will agree with me. I put off all my papers until.. practically the last minute. It really took its toll on me and I barely made it through my lectures without nodding off. For instance, I broke night for this one paper and ran through the day on less than an hour of sleep. I want to say I won’t procrastinate next semester, but honestly? Old habits die hard.
d. How have you changed since you started at Baruch College?
I don’t really think I’ve changed that much since I started at Baruch. The only thing that changed is the size of my wallet and my sleeping schedule. In all seriousness though, I guess if I had to say one thing that changed, it would be my mindset. I know now I should be taking my work more seriously since my scholarship is at stake. I need to rid myself of my old high school routines and step up my game if I truly want to succeed during my years at Baruch.
A. My experience at Baruch College was… okay. It wasn’t the greatest, but it was, for sure, better than high school. You meet a lot of mature people, who makes you want to act mature, and a lot of nice people. With all the freedom you can get, no deans or teachers on your back and all, it’s enjoyable. However, it’s a great deal of responsibility. I expected a lot more fun and freedom, but with the time needed for transportation and the loads of work to catch up on and do, it gets in the way… most of the time. The only reason it had not lived up to my expectation was because of that and that I kind of wished it wouldn’t be any different from dorming, but now, I kind of wished I dorm. It exceeded my expectation in the amount of work I had to do. I knew it was coming, but I guess it just comes all at once sometimes.
B. My first semester went pretty smoothly. I kind of wanted to do a lot more though, for example, join some clubs, but then again, my laziness gets in the way. Either that, or I am too consumed in work and have no time to even consider these activities.
C. If I could, I would not procrastinate, work harder, and maybe join some clubs. I guess it’s kind of like my answer from B. But other than these, I feel like even if I could do it over, the result would still be the same. Haha.
D. I’ve probably gotten more tired from all the work, but that’s a part of college I assume. Physical appearance and intellectual-wise, I’ve changed a lot. I’ve even become more talkative, like actually raising my hand for participation and talking to the girl/guy next to me. I’ve learned a lot more things I didn’t know prior.
a. Tell us how your experience at Baruch College has lived up to your expectations? Not lived up to your expectations? Exceeded your expectations?
My experience at Baruch College has lived up to my expectations in some aspects but not all. I met great friends and professors. However, the amount of work required to barely pass the class is extreme.
b. How well do you think your first semester at Baruch College went?
My first semester has taught me that procrastination is horrible. I learned that balancing school work and partying is harder than I thought with the amount of freedom given to me.
c. What would you do differently during your first semester is you could do it all again?
I would definitely not procrastinate and probably would not go out every weekend.
d. How have you changed since you started at Baruch College?
I haven’t changed much since i started at Baruch College.
FRO IS OVER. WHY ARE YOU STILL BOTHERING US? LOL jk.
a. Tell us how your experience at Baruch College has lived up to your expectations? Not lived up to your expectations? Exceeded your expectations?
– I think my experience this semester at Baruch has lived up to my expectations. I expected it to be like high school, just bigger. When you come from an Asian populated high school that’s so crowded and you transition to a commuter, business/math orientated school, you don’t really expect much change. The people here are what I expected too. Everyone I’ve met so far is in and out, unless then have commitments on campus aka two very tall buildings.
b. How well do you think your first semester at Baruch College went?
– I expected and wanted higher grades, but with the amount of effort I put it this semester I wouldn’t be surprised with what I get. I am expecting at least A- in most of my classes because, let’s face it, I’m not an idiot and my classes this semester were jokes.
c. What would you do differently during your first semester is you could do it all again?
– The only thing I would do differently this semester is… Hmm.. I wish I was more of who I was in High School. Coming into a new school you kind of adjust yourself to try to be more friendly and not such a big itch if you know what I mean. But doing that made me kind of a push over and sometimes some people just need to be told off or need to be kicked where it hurts.
d. How have you changed since you started at Baruch College?
– I don’t think I’ve changed much. I was actually hoping I would, but I’m not all too disappointed that I’m not. I guess you can say I’ve become more aware of my spending habits. Back then I didn’t have to pay for food ! Food was freeeeeeeeeeee, but now that I actually have to go out of my way to BUY food or to think about what I’m going to eat in the afternoon has made me become a major cheapo. It’s amazing how much money you can spend on food.
A. Tell us how your experience at Baruch College has lived up to your expectations? Not lived up to your expectations? Exceeded your expectations?
My experience at Baruch College has lived up to my expectations. It’s exactly how I pictured going here would be. I like how it’s in the city, so there are a lot of places to walk around and have lunch even though it’s not an actual campus. Another thing is that even though it’s not a campus, I like it that way. Having basically just three buildings make it a lot easier for me to find the classrooms. If I were to have gone to a school that is a campus, I think I would get lost really easily to figure out where everything is. I agree with everyone else who said that the work load really piled on towards the end of the semester. I didn’t expect that at all and thought the complete opposite. I really enjoy the freedom that comes with college and just pretty much being able to do anything and sit around anywhere. Commuting was fine at first in the beginning of the semester, but I’ve grown out of it and wish it wasn’t such a long ride to and from.
B. How well do you think your first semester at Baruch College went?
I think my first semester went fairly well. I’m expecting decent grades in all of my classes except for Calculus. I strongly dislike that class and hate math in general and it’s going to ruin my GPA. I’ve tried calculating possible GPAs for this semester and hopefully everything will turn out okay. Maybe I’m still adjusting, but I definitely feel like I’m going to do a lot better next semester.
C. What would you do differently during your first semester is you could do it all again?
I definitely should have studied more, especially for Calculus. I think I’ve tried my hardest for the rest of my classes, but looking back on it, I could probably do even better. There are times when I get that feeling that I just don’t care anymore and I can always catch up the next time, but I know I’ll regret it eventually. It’s the laziness. I should really stop being lazy. I wish I could start this semester all over again and do everything I should have from the very beginning.
D. How have you changed since you started at Baruch College?
I don’t think I’ve changed much since I started college. I’m still the same shy, always worrying type of girl. I have been able to make a few new friends and I feel a bit more comfortable when it comes to approaching someone and making conversation. I agree with Denise. I spent a lot of money on lunch this semester. Everything in the city’s so much more expensive. Guess it’s time to start bringing my own lunch everyday.
a. Tell us how your experience at Baruch College has lived up to your expectations? Not lived up to your expectations? Exceeded your expectations?
My experience at Baruch College has lived up to my expectations. I expected Baruch College to be a huge school with a lot of diversity. I also expected the classes to be difficult and require a lot of work out of me. That was exactly what I got. Most of my classes were difficult and required a lot of work. I also expected everything to be a lot more mature at Baruch. I feel my experience at Baruch has helped become more mature.
b. How well do you think your first semester at Baruch College went?
My first semester at Baruch College went well. Some times it was a bit challenging and difficult. But overall I think I did a pretty good job and feel I will get good grades in my classes. I liked most of the classes that I had and most of the professor. I feel I transitioned well into college after high school. My first semester was an overall great experience.
c. What would you do differently during your first semester is you could do it all again?
Something that I would do differently during my first semester would be stop procrastinating and get my work done well before it is due. However, i know that this is going to be difficult to change. But I really hope that for next semester and the following years to come I get my work done on time and not try to leave it for the last minute. There is nothing much I would change about this semester except for that because I felt it went the way that I had expected it to.
d. How have you changed since you started at Baruch College?
Since Baruch College I haven’t changed much. I did make a few nice friends but overall I think I have stayed the same. I still am pretty shy and I really hope to change that in the next few years. Baruch was a great experience and I hope the next few years will be as great.
sorry im late : ( i keep forgetting to do these blogs
a. Tell us how your experience at Baruch College has lived up to your expectations? Not lived up to your expectations? Exceeded your expectations?
I would say that the first year at Baruch has lived up to my expectations. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great, it was how i had imagined it to be. The workload was fair and the people in the school are really nice. My first year was pretty good except for finals week which had me staying up all night writing papers I wish I had exams rather than papers.
b. How well do you think your first semester at Baruch College went?
I think I did pretty well the first semester but I definitely could have done better. I always seem to start school with great motivation which wears out by the middle of the semester and is nearly non existent towards the end but I still think I did well.
c. What would you do differently during your first semester is you could do it all again?
I would stop procrastinating sooo much. Oh no I wouldnt every school year is like doing it again but this habit just never changes.
d. How have you changed since you started at Baruch College?
I dont think I changed much since college started but I am more independent and responsible.
a. Tell us how your experience at Baruch College has lived up to your expectations? Not lived up to your expectations? Exceeded your expectations?
Baruch College is not very challenging so far. I think it’s because I’ve only taken core classes, and I have already learned much of the material. It has met my expectations to some degree, I would have preferred more challenging courses or professors. Considering how the classes are only 2 days a week, I think I have learned more than I expected.
b. How well do you think your first semester at Baruch College went?
I think my first semester at Baruch College is quite well. I did fairly well in all my classes and I think I managed at least a B+ for all the classes.
c. What would you do differently during your first semester is you could do it all again?
The one thing I would have done differently is not procrastinating. I do not like rushing assignments, but I find I have a hard time…not doing that. I think an extra course would have been nice as well. I think I had way too much free time.
d. How have you changed since you started at Baruch College?
I have not changed however I think I have discovered I can only get work done while in the library during the 2 hour breaks.
