Freshman Seminar Workshops

Throughout the semester, I’ve gone to many workshops such as the Dare to Engage workshop, news literacy workshop, and Baruch Voices. Of all the workshops that I’ve attended, the workshop I that was the most entertaining was Baruch Voices. At first, I thought the Baruch Voices was going to be boring because I’ve already seen it once in the beginning of the year. Surprisingly, this one was much more amusing and humorous.

I guess the reason that I enjoyed watching Baruch Voices the second time was because the actors used the monologues from all the Freshman Seminars. It was shocking to see how well written the monologues were. The monologues related to myself in a since it was mostly based on what every freshman was going through during their first semester in college. It was nice see and compare how other students were doing in their new journey at Baruch.

There were many parts during the show that I really liked. One part was when the Asian actor was performing the monologue about quitting smoking cigarettes. This performance was very descriptive and funny at the same time. It kept the whole audience awake and laughing. Another monologue that was interesting was the one relating to the girl moving out. It reminded me of how all the times I thought about moving out in my life. There were times when I couldn’t stand my parents and times when I just really wanted my freedom.
