1.  GameGrl – Toby “Radiation” Fox (Click link – unable to upload to my playlist)

2. Drop it like it’s Hot – Snoop Dogg
3. It Doesn’t Matter – Crush 40

7. Dreams of an Absolution – Lee Brotherton
8. Miracles – ICP

10. How do I live (Bunny in the Box Version) – Michael Guy Bowman

Well, these are the songs that define me. I am a very optimistic and silly person who jokes around all the time, and I like to look on  the positive side of life! I always try to be there to support those important to me and cheer them on. That’s mainly why I am planning to become a psychologist – to help people. These songs all describe my way of life. Most of these songs have very meaningful lyrics, and some are a bit on the silly side, which describes me perfectly. 😛

One of my favorite pieces of advice comes from the wise words of Snoop Dogg..
“When the pimps in the crib ma, drop it like it’s hot…drop it like it’s hot…drop it like it’s hot.”

Simply Me

Top Ten Picks

Hey guys! So trying to express myself simply through these songs is just not enough. I’m very open to pretty much anything, I know it’s vague but hopefully if you look through my playlist you’ll understand a bit. Choosing songs may have not been so easy, deciding to pick older songs or current popular songs. I chose to glace a peak at my most listened to songs playlist on itunes, and decided to pick a few from this category. I’d like to mention that I’m a fan of the show Glee, for those who don’t know of it, it’s a show where throughout the plot they perform various songs based on a specific genre for example basing an episode on Britney Spears or Journey. Such as they mix up various genre’s and infuse songs with each other, is something  that appeals to me. These songs in this playlist have no particular order of importance to me, I guess I can just call them my go-to songs.

1. Pumped up Kicks (Outrun my Bullet)
Foster the People

2. Somebody that I used to know
Gotye

3. Take Care
Drake (ft. Rihanna)

4. Let it Die
Three Days Grace

5. Human – The killers

6.  Don’t You Worry Child – Swedish House Mafia

7. Life is a Gun – Jay Malinowski

8. Torniquet – Evanescence

9. If I Die Young – The Band Perry

10. Balada (Tche Tche rere) – Gusttavo Lima

My Poem and a Playlist list

Hey, how’s it going? Alright, so for my list of songs I went with two genres, rap and r&b. I grew up with these two types of music and everyone growing up around me was the same way so I never really got into other genres like rock, until recently. That’s not to say I’m not open to other genres,-that goes for you too country- I just haven’t heard much music from a lot of them. Anyway, these songs below are really special to me. They help me feel relaxed and focused while writing a paper the night before it’s due. But they are also special in more ways than one. However, it would take >500 words to tell you everything so I’ll tell you one of the bigger reasons: I feel nostalgic when I hear them; listening to these people melodiously speaking on a mic makes me remember way back to when I first heard the song; how I felt listening to “superstar” for the first time in middle school on someone’s myspace page. That’s really important for me because I see myself as someone who tries to look back to the past often. The reason being that I grew up with a huge cast of family members who have since just gradually drifted apart; I have a lot of great memories with them, most of which are so simple that it’s just me in the family van, on our way to six flags, watching all of the green fields go by along a highway. Anyway, they are not in any special order; I just organized them by artists:
1. Resistance-Drake
2.Club Paradise-Drake

3. Lose Yourself-Eminem
4. Forever Young- Jay Z
5. PDA-John Legend
6. Superstar-Lupe Fiasco

7. The Morning- The Weeknd
Alright so that’s about it for the songs, I’m feeling too nostalgic. But since I have space left for 3 songs, I’ll fill it with a 3-line haiku instead to help you understand who I think I am.

Haiku:
I am an old New Yorker
I’ve been here too long

Let”s leave and come back later

My Jingles

Hey guys, so when it comes to music I don’t stick to a genre just because
I like giving everything a chance 🙂 Also I went through a lot of changes
I’m sure we’ve all gone through that weird elementary school days with the best of the 90s-early 2000s

and then the whole junior highschool emo phase with the my chemical romance, him, afi, four year strong, sense fail, slipknot, korn, artreyu…you get the deal.
Anyway so that was me, but this is me now.

Here’s my little arrangement of songs that get me through the long subway rides to school and back home.

1. Adele
(actually I listen to both of her albums so all the way through so I can’t really name one specific song.)

2. Nat King Cole
Darling Je Vous Aime Beaucoup

3. Chet Baker
Time after Time

4. Billy Holiday
You go to my head

5. Jessie J
Who you are

6. Sara Bareilles
Sitting on the dock of the bay (original by Otis Redding)

7. The Pierces
Three wishes

8. Sia
Death by chocolate

9. Weezer
Say it ain’t so

10. Sublime

Songs of My Life

I would like to clarify one thing right off of the bat. Despite the fact that I am from Tennessee, I do not listen to country at all. It drives me insane that people automatically assume that along with the many other stereotypes.

My favorite genre would be rock, but more specifically, I mainly listen to post-hardcore. There are so many different types of styles within rock music that I feel that it is necessary to include my preference. I actually worked with a music venue in Nashville called Rocketown. Although they occasionally have different types of artists perform, Rocketown is mainly catered to rock music. Because I was apart of the Rocketown team, I saw a lot of bands and was introduced to many local bands. This list was both easy and difficult to compile. Some of these songs include lyrics that relate to me completely, but some of the songs fit my personality by the actual music rather than the lyrics.

I decided to just do a video playlist through YouTube. Some of the songs have videos, while some just have the lyrics. 🙂

1. Saviour by Lights.

2. Zombie by The Pretty Reckless

3. Bitch by Plasticines

4. Toes by Lights

5. All Signs Point to Lauderdale by A Day To Remember

6. Mr. Owl Ate My Metal Worm by D.R.U.G.S

7. A For Andrew by Attack Attack!

8. Miss Nothing by The Pretty Reckless

9. Roads That Don’t End and Views That Never Cease by We Came As Romans

10. Sweetest Kill by Broken Social Scene

My Playlist

  1. “Home” – Philip Phillips
  2. “Secrets” – OneRepublic
  3. “Save the World” –  Swedish House Mafia
  4. “Witchcraft” – Pendulum
  5. “Reason” – Hoobastank
  6. “Into the Ocean” – October Blue
  7.  “Fade into Darkness” – Avicii
  8. “Savior” – Rise Against
  9. “The Lotus Symphony” – Netsky
  10.  “Uppermost” – Dixit

“The Playlist”

These songs does not represent me as a whole but it does represent my personality where I am a calm person that enjoys up tempo music. I chose these songs because I am able to express my feelings through these songs and it has amazing background music that gives off a refreshing feeling. Most of the songs in the list are in different genres because I don’t listen to a specific genre as I listen to what sounds the best to me. I listen to pretty much every kind of music and genre as long as I like it. However, I am not really a fan of rap and hardcore rock music.  If you have time, check out the music video for some of these songs because it is awesome and it matches the lyrics perfectly. Hope you enjoy!
