My Favorite Enrichment Workshop
The Ruben Museum of Art is definitely my favorite enrichment workshop. I enjoyed every second of the museum tour. Cole and I even stayed a little later after everyone else in our class left the workshop. I enjoyed walking into and experiencing a part of history that I had little experience with. Everything from the Tibetan Shrine room to the beautiful murals on the walls made me feel as close to tranquility as I could get. The only thing that could have made it better would have been for me to actually go to a real temple. As I explored the floors engulfed in statues of the divine, I wanted to be a part of it all. I am not a Buddhist, but I took a lot of interest in the religion and how it affected the many Buddhists with their lives during the beginning of the summer. My prior knowledge of some of the art and my exposure to the new art that I have never seen before interested me. I wanted to know more. After those moments of being close to a religion that allowed many people to find peace, I wanted even more to find peace with myself. It reminded me of the calmness and tranquility I experienced when I used to meditate. From that, I was familiar with the many chakras and mudras used by the divine. There are also many of those works of art that I would love to have in my room such as the Buddha statues, the wrathful spirit statues, and the door guardians.

Ankhe — so glad that you enjoyed the museum. Maybe it’s worth exploring again — who knows what else you can get out of it a second (or third!) time around.
