FRO playlist

So, I decided to do the whole playlist thing because music really is what I am most passionate about in life. It’s had quite an impact on my life so far and I just want to be surrounded by music by some way or another for the rest of my life. I know everybody will probably say this but music really does help me get by every day. I pretty much have a song or group of songs for every mood that I’m in. I play a bunch of different instruments such as guitar, drums, sax and more. I really like obscure instruments that not a lot of people play so that’s how I picked up the mandolin and ukulele. I think these songs pretty much describe me quite well. People my age probably have never heard of most of the music I listen to. Well, at least my friends have no clue usually. I guess I should stop rambling and list my song choices now…..

1. Ac-cent-tchu-ate the positive (Arlen /Mercer)  – Well, this song was first published in 1944. I had not heard of it until last year when Paul McCartney released his album of American standards. This song stood out to me because it was really positive (hence the title) and its a really feel good song. With most people I kinda try to accentuate the positive in them, and in myself. As the song goes, you gotta accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative. I think that’s a pretty good way to live life.

2. Sir Duke (Stevie Wonder) – This song is pretty much an ode to the classic musicians; Miller, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong etc. who all are pretty big influences in my musical life.

3. In My Life (Lennon/ McCartney) – This song reminds me of the people in my life and what they mean to me. My friends and family really mean a lot to me and this song kind of relates to that. The people in my life are really important to me and are really what help me get by when I need someone by my side. Even after we all went off to college, my high school friends are still extremely close and we talk pretty much every day even though they’re so far away.

4.With a Little Help From My Friends (Lennon/ McCartney) – This kind of relates to the previous song/ explanation. I really do get by thanks to my friends.

5. Watching the Wheels (John Lennon) – This song kind of relates to my way of life. I really do like to just sit back and “watch the wheels go round” so to speak. I have a pretty calm life and like to observe the world around me.

6. La de da (Ringo Starr) – This song relates to my lifestyle as well. the song pretty much just says whatever will be, will be. I like to live by this carefree lifestyle at times. even though there are times where you really have to be aware of everything that’s going on, it is always nice to just sit back and relax.

7.One Day at a Time (Elton John/ John Lennon) – One day at a time is pretty much how I live. I’m not one who really plans every little thing for my future. yes, of course you need to have some notion of where you’re going in life but there are some things that you just have to take one day at a time.

8. Y not (Ringo Starr) – This song got me to build a relationship with Ringo. I hate having the feeling of thinking, what if?. this is why I always take every opportunity I get to advance in life. If a good opportunity arises, I think why not? and usually it’s pretty beneficial.

9. When will you die? (They Might Be Giants) – Yes- when will you die? I just really like this song. and of course, there’s those people that you just have to think, when will you die?! I know, it’s kind of bad but if you listen to the song, it is quite awesome. And it’s by one of the few current bands that I actively listen to.

10. New York City (John Lennon) – I love New York City. This song pretty much summarizes what I love about it and why. John Lennon also Loved NYC as I do so I can kind of connect with him with this song.
