My Playlist

I decided to do a playlist of songs that I feel reflect my character. It isn’t in any specific order of preference or anything. Enjoy.

1. My Moment By: DJ Drama, 2 Chainz, Meek Mill, and Jeremih

I feel this song reflects my attitude whenever I start something new, whether its a new school, team, anything. I am just waiting for my moment to show my colors and what I can do. I feel that this song motivates me to be the best at what I am doing when I get a big chance especially if it involves proving someone wrong. I love disappointing those who doubt me, especially in sports.

2. Teach Me How to Dougie By: Cali Swag District

I know this song is a little old but I still love it. I do not really like to dance but whenever this song comes on I “hit my dougie.” I listen to this song before my games and in high school during practice I would always do this dance with my teammates.

3. Don’t Wake Me Up By: Chris Brown

I like to think of myself as a dreamer. I am always in my own little world thinking about the possibilities in life. I also have a lot of great dreams that I do not want to wake up from and I just it was my reality.

4. Dance With My Father By: Luther Vandross

This song makes me so emotional. It makes me think of my grandfather and how I miss him terribly. It also makes me think of my moms feelings toward losing because of the relationship they had. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of him. 🙁 RIP Granpa

5. Beautiful People By: Chris Brown

I think everyone is beautiful in their own way its just a matter of how they express themselves. I feel that this song allows you to just be free and not have a care in the world for what others think of you. I think the video was awesome by the way, seeing it and hearing the song actually brings a lot of life into me.

6: Daughters By: Nas

As soon as I heard this song on the radio I thought of my daddy. The lyrics of this song are exactly how my dad acts toward me. I am daddy’s little girl so I know it’s hard of letting me go and seeing me go into the cold world by myself. If any song in the world were a mirror reflection of me I would say it is this song.

7. Basketball By: Kurtis Blow

Basketball is just a sport to some people but it is way more than a game to me, it is my life and my passion. I don’t see how my life would be without this “game.” I am always dressed in basketball attire I just always want to play or watch games. This song is on the “NBA 2K12” soundtrack and that is my favorite game, it is the only game I own for PS3. Whenever I hear this song it gets me soooooooo excited.

8. Man in the Mirror By: Michael Jackson

This song used to get me emotional but when I actually sat down to listen to the lyrics I realized it was song to help others. I am a good-hearted person and wish I could save the world from terrible things such as poverty and abuse. I believe I’ll one day change the world whether it is by doing something small or something really great.

9. Fly By: Nicki Minaj and Rihanna

This is a motivational song. I believe in “the sky’s the limit” and anyone can accomplish anything. I love winning more than anything and I’ll do anything to win. There are a lot of barriers and obstacles you have to get by but once you through that everything gets easy until the next challenge you are faced with and then you have to start all over. The lyrics are powerful to me.

10. Diva By: Beyonce

I have been told plenty of times that I am a diva and I am starting to see it more as I get older. There have been moments when I won’t do things because it is not to my liking. Even though I am an athlete I have a sassy side to me. This song is the definition of my attitude.

Well this is my playlist of songs that I feel reflect me. Some of these songs I listen to all of the time and others I listen to when I need to feel motivated. It was a rough process for me but I got through it. If you prejudged me as the total opposite as to who I am, hopefully this gave you an idea as to who I really am. Thanks. Hope you guys enjoy. 🙂
