Finally! the conclusion of my first semester is near. Sadly this also means that Freshmen Seminar is over, my favorite class this semester. In Freshmen seminar, we went to numerous places and workshops to help educate us in some type of way, but my favorite was the Baruch voices. The reason why this was my favorite enrichment workshop is because it is entertaining, and it can also become heart felt when emotional stories were acted out. Baruch voices showed how creative and authentic students can be. It also showed how comfortable they adjusting to college in general because based on the monologues, no one held back. They weren’t afraid to express themselves and that alone made me enjoy this workshop more than the others. I must say the actors were phenomenal as they did the monologues. It seems as if they were the actual person talked about in the monologue. This made it easier for me to understand each monologue and even empathize with a few. I found this impressive because it seems as if the monologue was just given these actors and they studied them to perfection. To have the ability to express many different personalities in one play was amazing. I honestly didn’t think it was possible to go from a pervert who talks about his sick obsession with this girl he loves to a teen expressing her dislike of her mother treating her like a child still. Baruch voices would forever be on my mind and i hope to see more monologues as i continue my college career at Baruch.

So far this semester, I’ve experienced many changes i had to adjust to. For one i could say the work given to me lead me to discipline myself to just do it. Especially due to the fact that I just came fresh off of “senioritis” from high school, didn’t really do much my last semester at Bedford Academy. This was huge for me to start completing assignments because it shows how responsible I’ve become. Especially because going to college comes with alot of responsibility. This leads to why i chose the picture of a plant growing to show how i grew as the semester progressed. Coming to a college pretty much felt like adjusting to a foreign country. It is very different from high school, much bigger, more activities to do, and alot more work to be responsible for. Also no more parent teacher conference, so overall at Baruch I’m responsible for myself and only i could prove whether i have a successful college career or not. It hit me as soon as people in my family kept repeating how important it is for me to do well in college. They explained that the more education i gain the better life will be, and how overall i could get a good job to help me get by in this economy. This pressure on me in time eventually turned into confidence because i notice how much more dedicated i was to my education. Baruch helped me grow to the point that i feel ready to be an adult and take on any responsibility that comes in my way .
In my playlist, it contains a variation of artist and genre’s yet they all share the similarity of explaining my personality. The first song in my playlist “Here Comes The Yankees” generally explains my love and loyalty to New York sports, in particular my favorite New York franchise the Yankees. The history of this franchise encompasses many memories, penants, and of course World Championships. This franchise epitomizes winning, and constant success, and this reflects the hunger i have to the many goals i want to accomplish. The second song on the playlist “Lions, Tigers, and Bears” simply explains the emotional side of my personalty. The song basically preaches that love is a major risk to take. Thus far in my life I have yet to fall victim to love simply because Im scared of getting hurt. The third song “Wear My Hat” shows my love for fitted caps.In fact, I collect Yankee fitteds and they are VERY important to me. In Highschool girls used to want to hold my hats and wear it a little, but before i give it to them i always tell them “protect it as if its your child!”
The fourth song “Young, Wild, and Free” explains my experience as a student in Baruch. As a college student, this comes with more responsibility but freedom also. No more parents being on my back about grades, but definitely more independence will be gained. The fifth song “Brooklyn” by Jay Z is significant to my personality being that it speaks of my birth place. I was born, raised, and in fact still live in Brooklyn, and this song basically is the anthem to the place I’ve been around for most of my life. The sixth song “New York, New York” expresses my love and appreciation for this city. I do in fact believe New York is the best city in the world. In particular this song reminds me of the feeling i get when i go out to Manhattan. The bright lights and constant activity never gets old to me. The seventh song “Cashin’ Out” is pretty much my theme song because my nick name is Kash. In fact my gamer tag is Kashedout25, and the beat matches how fun of a personality i have. The eight song ” Love Dancing” literally shows that i love dancing. In fact i find myself randomly dancing around the house because it makes me feel free. The ninth song “Loud” shows my love for music. Everyday when I’m on my way to Baruch i makes sure i blast my music to get myself mentally ready for the day. Without my music i tend to feel naked at times. The tenth and final song on my play list “Vacation” shows how important relaxing is to my personality. I love alone time and i feel that stress doesn’t have to take over one’s life as long as they relax. In closing, these are the songs that highlight key aspects of my personality.
