Sports have always played a major part of my life. Ever since I was a kid form the young age of 4 i can remember playing baseball with my dad. But it didn’t stop there, as I got older we kept of playing more and more making a routine of it. Me my dad and my brother would go outside and shoot hoops when it was 20 degrees outside or hitting around baseballs when it was 90 degrees out and we should be relaxing on the beach instead of playing ball. The living room in my house has turned into a gym over time. Me and my brother have a basketball court of the door and we have a football laying down of the floor waiting for us to pick it up and toss it around to each other. At one point we used to play hockey and pitch baseballs to each other. We have collectively broken around 15 picture frames, 3 window shades, 2 vases and the glass on the coffee table. One wall in my room is full of miniature fatheads while the other walls have trophies, autographed baseballs and championship posters on them. This passion for sports from such a young age has had tremendous effect on my life.
Josh’s story about hospitals
Josh’s story
I really dislike hospitals. I say dislike because I don’t hate them but I honestly really have an issue with them and there is a story behind this. About two years ago at the end of my sophomore year in high school I developed a serious case of lyme disease. For those who don’t know Lyme disease according to the official Wikipedia opinion is the most common tick-borne disease in the Northern Hemisphere which is transmitted through a deer tick bite. Once a deer tick bites you, you develop a bullseye rash around the area which I didn’t notice at the time of the bite. So a few months later my leg swelled up so much that I could barely walk on it which is actually a late stage symptom of Lyme. So to make a longer story short I was brought into the hospital after a month or so of taking medication that didn’t work so that they could drain whatever was in my leg preventing it from getting smaller once again. The operation went well and they discharged me from the hospital with a pic line which is basically a portable IV to take more medication all the times. Funny enough the doctors put it in wrong so about ten days later I developed a fever which isn’t normal. The doctors at my local hospital couldn’t figure it out so we went to CHOP, the best childrens hospital around. They quickly diagnosed the fever as what I said above and removed the pic line. To spare tremendous detail lets just say the next year went fine. Then after a year the same thing happened again. My leg swelled up and I ended up going into the hospital again. This time wasn’t the same as the first time however in that this time what had happened is that something had torn when I had jumped from the stitching up of my leg in the last surgery. They had to operate again and drain what was in my leg but this time they decided to let my leg heal in a very different way. Normally the way surgeries go is that they operate, stitch you up and your body heals from the outside in. but, in order to prevent what had just occurred, the doctors decided to let the wound heal from the inside out. After a few months of treating the wound until it closed everything got back to normal. What I have to remember is about one inch of scar on my leg, basically no feeling around my calf and the sound of something cracking whenever I squat and then straighten up. Also it was my right leg. That is why I dislike hospitals and for those who stuck through the blood, I applaude you.

Keith’s Story
By: Keith Ezersky
Keith I am I am
Full of energy and
Boundless talent
Happy, positive
Full of fun
Eager to learn and fast to run
I have learned from the start to stand
Despite my counterparts
I was born a triplet
One of three
I cam with an instant family
I learned to share at a very young age
In my book of life they share the same page.
Lessons of hardship ring a bell
Looking at me you cannot tell
My mom had cancer when I was nine
g-d spared her life I’m glad she is fine
It made me realize to give back
By helping others I will never lose track
My brothers and I share
a common bond. I wish
I had a magic wand
I will fight for life through
Prayer and cause. Expend time
Doing so without applause
On a lighter note: my brothers and
I are an immediate team
We play sports to an extreme
I pledge myself to work very hard
to gain a business degree and if
you stick around you will see
Of course, I plan to work very hard
to gain a business degree and
if you stick around you will see.
Baseball is also important to me
Multifaceted I can be a catcher,
3rd basemen, outfielder or all three
Crack! Is the sound you hear
When the ball hits my bat.
It lifts off as far as the eye can see
Lading over the wall for a homerun.
This is the insider scoop
I knocked the ball for a loop
I ran the bases hard and fast
Making the moment last and last
Visions of success are in my grasp.

These are all songs that originated as a song and then was turned in to a special remix. These are no ordinary mixes, they are special because they don’t really change the song but the body (the beat changes and they bring some other things into it as well). These songs really can tell people the kind of person that I really am, but that would only tell you who I am if you already new something about me. So now I am going to tell you a little about me. I am a nineteen-year-old boy that goes to Baruch College. I am someone who commutes into the city everyday, which takes about an hour each way including the mile walk to and from penn. Now the thing that makes these songs really a part of me, is the fact that they are not there usual song they are different then there original and they are also different from any other song. These songs are one of a kind. That’s a main reason on why these songs are a part of me. When I was seven I was just an ordinary kid that would wake up, go to school and one weekends have play dates with my friends. Until that one day that my parents took me to the doctors. That one day changed me for the rest of my life to come. I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. I went from that normal seven year old kid who had to leave school and have his life changed. This is why these songs are different, it is something taken from a normal thing and then changed to something different. That is why I love those songs because every time I listen to them I get to remember that I am a survivor. These songs let me know that I fought through something that has changed my life forever. There are many things that have changed in my life but thank god I am as healthy as can be. This is the main reason why these songs represent the person that I am. These songs can be taken and understood in anyway that someone would like to take it and that could be there choice and their mind. But I see it as something that help and should be able to help anyone who feels different. It is something that can show you why its good to be a little different.

I picked this first picture because I was born and raised in west babylon which is a medium sized town on long island. I love my neighborhood on long island everyone is quite friendly and very into sports. One thing I miss from my town is participating in the varsity football games and being part of homecoming. I miss my town on long island and all my friends I left behind.
The second picture I picked is the number 5. I choose the number 5 because I am the oldest of five siblings. My siblings are Samantha who is 16, Victoria who is 14, Alexandra who is 14, and Joey who is 11. Having such a big family thats very close in age is very fun we always do fun stuff together; And it is kind of cool being the first to go to college and being the role model of my family. We also have a lot in common we all play sports and want to be successful in life.
The third picture I picked is of a baseball player. I love the game of baseball I would play it everyday if I could. I started playing baseball at the age of five and it is one of the main reasons of how I got to were i am today. I also love to watch baseball My favorite team is the New York Mets even though they’re not that good I still enjoy watching them play.
The fourth picture I chose is of the shake shack. Whether Iam near madison park or at citi field I always find my way to get lunch at the shake schack. my favorite meal is the shake shack burger and fries with a large lemonade.
The fifth picture I chose is a picture of the Baruch bear cat Iam currently a student of Baruch and love it so far. The classes are fun and the campus is very nice. I am also part of the Baruch baseball team which has been fun and helped me make new friends.
The sixth picture I choose is a picture of the word Brooklyn in graffiti. I chose this image because I currently live in Greenpoint,Brooklyn. I love living in Brooklyn because it’s just like living in the city but a little less noisy and crowded. The area in which I live is very up and coming and theres so much to do at night and Im only one stop away from manhattan.
The seventh picture I chose is a picture of people partying. I chose this image because I like to go out and party with my friends in my free time. I like to go to new places and meet new people listen to good music and dance and eat great and delicious food.
Music is something I really enjoy. I used to think I needed to have it in my life every day. Then one day my head phones broke. All of a sudden I stopped listening to music. I can’t even remember how long I went without listening to music; it was such a long time. Of course I heard music in commercials and once in a while I would hear songs on the radio when I was in the car, but I stopped listening to music for enjoyment. Before my head phones broke, putting my them on and blasting my music to block out outside noise was a daily ritual during my commute to school. I would spend several hours a day listening to songs that mimicked how I felt on the inside. My music was an escape to my fantasy world, a place where things in life happened the way I wanted them too and where the opportunities were limitless. But all of a sudden one day, that was gone. I could have easily replaced my head phones and gone back to daydreaming, but I was beginning to realize that I had to wake up and deal with reality. I didn’t want to avoid my problems anymore. So for several months I went without music. Funny enough, I didn’t even miss it. I was forced to pay attention to the world around me- the sounds, the noises, the people. It wasn’t just me in my own little world anymore.
As a result of this little experiment nothing changed significantly. I daydreamed and my creativity also decreased. I felt less imaginative. I don’t think I became less self-absorbed or started facing the challenges I need to face. However, I have learned that I will never again give up something I love.
Recently, I have started listening to music again. The first time I put my head phones in I had a big smile on my face that I just couldn’t get rid of. I thought I would just share some songs I really like. I hope you enjoy.

top ten music list
Music is a major part of my life and I’m sure many other people would say the same. I can’t even describe how I feel about music besides for as an escape from reality into a lawless world fitting in with the theme of the particular song I’m listening to. People who listen to music say that they like a certain song because of various normal things like rhythm, and beat, soul… etc, I think the same is true of myself. We all listen for certain things in music that match whatever our criteria are so I could like these songs and anyone looking at my list may say I’m nuts. Whatever. So with that said, It’s really hard to choose just ten songs as favorites since I like a whole variety of music but, if I had to pick a top ten to listen to for the rest of my life they would probably be…
Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin- just a great classic song with great lyrics and rhythm and the building up of the song as it goes on.
Rock of Ages be Def Leppard- just a great song that I could listen to all day. I actually first heard this song through a show called “Supernatural” which plays a lot of really good music at opportune times in the show.
Night of the Hunter by 30 Seconds to Mars- Though I would truly recommend any songs by 30 Seconds to Mars I think this one is particularly good in terms of all the normal things [rhythm, lyrics…].
Savior by Rise Against- One of the punk rock bands I like and though I would really recommend the majority of their music this is really their best song made.
The High Road by Broken Bells- Though Broken Bells has only made one album, their music is really good. Again I would recommend anything by them just that this song is a good transition into their type of music with a good beat but with more normal lyrics compared to their other songs.
Juke Box Hero by Foreigner- I really like this song just for the meaning through the lyrics. The way that I see it is that it’s basically about a person who had a true passion about something and so he pursued it which is really how I feel in terms of learning to play instruments. If you really love it, you can pursue it and became the best at it.
Sing by My Chemical Romance- I feel the same way about this song as I do by Juke Box Hero except the concept of the lyrics is different. As opposed to Juke Box Hero this song is about one singing out what they feel.
Don’t Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult-I honestly just love this song based off of the lyrics especially the last stanza
The Weight by The Band- great rhythm, use of piano, lyrics, just all around I really like this song a lot.
Loud Pipes by Ratatat- Though this song has no lyrics it’s a really chill song with a great beat and rhythm and progression of the song itself.
Brandon Klein’s playlist:
(these are not in any order)
1. fool on the hill-Beatles
2. til i collapse- Eminem…
3. let it be- Beatles
4. feelin good- Nina Simone
5. hey jude- Beatles
6. many men- 50 cent
7. lose yourself- Eminem
8. crazy- gnarles barkely
9. payphone- maroon 5
10. cant tell me nothing- kanye west
These are my favorite 10 songs because each song is played for a different mood an each song brings a different meaning to me. Fool on the hill is my favorite song ever. My dad is a tremendous Beatles fan but besides that the words in this song are truly beautiful and there are people that are different (fool) in this world (hill). The next 2 Beatles songs hey Jude and let it be where the first 2 songs i ever heard and again it just sets the mood. Next Til i collapse- is because lebron James is my favorite person in the world and before every one of his games (yes i don’t miss any) i watch a youtube pump up video of him with this song. Next, Feelin good is there because of the new x facor sensation carly rose soneclare and she is unbelievable, plus its one of my favorite show. Many men- because 50 sent is my favorite rapper and its a song speaking about warriors and there battles and good eople that have been lost. Next, lose yourself- only because the actual words and it really speaks for doing thing now. As it says “this opportunity comes once in a lifetime” which im a big fan of. Crazy because its just a classic true song and just gets my blood pumping. payphone because i thought its necessary to pick a song thats on radio now and no other songs are good and i like adam levine. Last, cant tell me nothing because its from the best scene in the movie hangover and i like that film.
These are why i picked these songs hope u enjoy
In my playlist, it contains a variation of artist and genre’s yet they all share the similarity of explaining my personality. The first song in my playlist “Here Comes The Yankees” generally explains my love and loyalty to New York sports, in particular my favorite New York franchise the Yankees. The history of this franchise encompasses many memories, penants, and of course World Championships. This franchise epitomizes winning, and constant success, and this reflects the hunger i have to the many goals i want to accomplish. The second song on the playlist “Lions, Tigers, and Bears” simply explains the emotional side of my personalty. The song basically preaches that love is a major risk to take. Thus far in my life I have yet to fall victim to love simply because Im scared of getting hurt. The third song “Wear My Hat” shows my love for fitted caps.In fact, I collect Yankee fitteds and they are VERY important to me. In Highschool girls used to want to hold my hats and wear it a little, but before i give it to them i always tell them “protect it as if its your child!”
The fourth song “Young, Wild, and Free” explains my experience as a student in Baruch. As a college student, this comes with more responsibility but freedom also. No more parents being on my back about grades, but definitely more independence will be gained. The fifth song “Brooklyn” by Jay Z is significant to my personality being that it speaks of my birth place. I was born, raised, and in fact still live in Brooklyn, and this song basically is the anthem to the place I’ve been around for most of my life. The sixth song “New York, New York” expresses my love and appreciation for this city. I do in fact believe New York is the best city in the world. In particular this song reminds me of the feeling i get when i go out to Manhattan. The bright lights and constant activity never gets old to me. The seventh song “Cashin’ Out” is pretty much my theme song because my nick name is Kash. In fact my gamer tag is Kashedout25, and the beat matches how fun of a personality i have. The eight song ” Love Dancing” literally shows that i love dancing. In fact i find myself randomly dancing around the house because it makes me feel free. The ninth song “Loud” shows my love for music. Everyday when I’m on my way to Baruch i makes sure i blast my music to get myself mentally ready for the day. Without my music i tend to feel naked at times. The tenth and final song on my play list “Vacation” shows how important relaxing is to my personality. I love alone time and i feel that stress doesn’t have to take over one’s life as long as they relax. In closing, these are the songs that highlight key aspects of my personality.

I have been listening to music for most of my life. I feel that it extremely hard to think of songs that not only bet describe who you are but songs that meant the most to you over the years. Most of the songs that picked are rap and hip hop songs. I chose those genres in particular because that’s the type of music I enjoy listening to as of now. One of the 1st rap songs that I ever liked had to be “In da Club” by 50 cent. That song started in a trend towards that kind of music. Then “Get Busy” by Sean Paul is a more upbeat reggae song. Besides those 2 songs the rest of the songs that I picked are newer songs that came out within the past couple of years. “Marvin Gaye and Chardonnay” by Big Sean feating Kayne West and Roscoe Dash always put me in a great mood no matter what the situation is. “Stan” by Eminem has to one of the deepest songs I have ever heard and is surprising based on a true story. The other songs don’t have much meaning to me but regardless they are great songs with hidden meanings inside of them. Hope everyone enjoys my playlist!!!!!!
