Music = Me

Freshman Project

These songs are in no particular order. I added these specific songs because I find them to define who I am in a very different way, they are not a representative of what my favorite songs are.

1. The Battle of the Pelennor Fields.

This song is from the movie, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. This song, I find defines me is because it represents how I view a “battle”. The obstacles I view in life, the problems I have to get through, can be expressed in this song.

2. Rocky: Gonna Fly Now

This song represents me because it is a constant motivator. It reminds me of what life lays out in front of me. Anything I do that requires a lot of effort is dealt with using this song. I also listen to it every time I go to the gym.

3. Arrival to Earth by Steve Jablonsky

This is another movie related song. I chose this particular one because I find myself relating this to my interactions with other people. The song starts out slow, mysterious and    almost scary like. However, as it progresses it changes to a confident, strong, and powerful tone. In a sense this is how I associate myself to others, starting out as the underdog, being mostly observant, then coming out of my shell.

4. Leaves in the Wind by Issac Shepard

I chose this song because I think it represents my state of mind. I’d like to think I am this certain person, but in reality I am just me. This song accomplishes this by contrasting the speed, mood, and dynamic to represent that you are not who you think you should be, but you are just you and its best to just be yourself.

5. Climbing Up Iknimaya

This is the famous song from the movie of the century, Avatar. This song defines me in the most basic ways. It reminds me of the ancestral roots, where I came from and that I should never be afraid to hide it. This song which incorporates a native language and primitive instruments demonstrates your present self and its connection to your family background and culture.

6. Home by Phil Phillips

I chose this song mainly because of its lyrics. It is in fact, the only song on this playlist that has lyrics. The words show my view on life when you are at your absolute lowest. The way I deal with my “depression” is the same way as this song. In a sense, this demonstrates my mentality when, according to the song, “Trouble, it might drag you down.”
