blog post #2

When I first came to Baruch I expected to be lonely for a while because none of my friends from Highschool came here. I was afraid that I would be lonely just like how I was in middle school. You see I had problems with making friends in middle school because I wasn’t born in the United States, so English wasn’t my first language. I came to America when I was in 4th grade. I was scared out of my mind because it’s an unfamiliar environment for me. I was often bullied in middle school because I couldn’t speak the language that well. That was when I decided to boost my English as quick as possible. I guess my determination paid off and I was able to have normal conversions with everyone. After that I opened up more and since then I was able to make many friends. After a while in Baruch I met a bunch of people and I wasn’t so lonely anymore. So I learned from my experience that if I have determination I would succeed in life. I hope everyone will have a great time in college.

Before you think you are
Who you believe you are
Break all ties that may define
The person that is you
Beyond all words and descriptions
And social classifications  and exaggerations
Remember that there’s an I in all that you do
Stand behind that, the decisions you make
Whether you fail or rise
Remember that you were your own
“So throw off the bowlines
Sail away from the safe harbor
Catch the trade winds in your sails
Explore. Dream. Discover”

blog post the second: B29

I came to Baruch with the mindset that I’m sure many of you had – excited, anxious, and eager. The first days of college were a mix of emotions ranging from being optimistic and forward looking to understandably, missing the many memories and friends from high school. It was the beginning of a transitional period in our lives. No longer are we children, who look forward to the days that we become adults. That day is here. We are at the start of the journey into adulthood, where we can make our mark in the world. And, we are starting that journey together. Block 29. In these past months, we have conquered a lot – the start of college, midterms, debilitating polisci and English papers, and even making new friends. Back in August, the term Block 29 meant little to me, just my schedule of classes. Today, however, B29 means so much more. The people I’ve met and the experiences I’ve had have been wonderful. As we move on with our college education, I will never forget the group of people whom I started it with. And though we may go our separate ways after this semester, never lose sight that we started this journey together. B29 forever!

Blog One

Hey guys, my name is Amanda Siegel. I decided to create a picture slideshow because not that many people chose that option and when I told my friend the blog assignment she freaked out and pretty much demanded that I make a slideshow. The pictures show events of the past couple years of my life and the people that I’m the closest to. Enjoy!
