Baruch voices

I liked the performance. It was surprisingly for Baruch very well organised. The stories the actors picked were very touching. I find two of them to be my favourite: the guy who tried to quit smoking and the girl who moved out from her mom. The first one reminds me of myself since I’m a smoker and sound like that guy too very often. I used to buy packs and say they were my last one. It never happened though. I still smoke. The second story kind of refers to my experience of moving to a different country and leaving my parents but not in terms of everything. That girl’s mom was very determined in taking care of her daughter and never gave her private space. My parents did but they thought that i would never be able to live on my own since according to them I will not manage to take care of myself far away from them.

The acting itself was beautiful. The actors depicted the emotions that those must have felt very clearly. I could feel those people and understand them as if they were telling it to me. The performance was engaging. I liked it!

One Response to Baruch voices

  1. When this workshop was deemed mandatory in class I guess it’s appropriate to see I was completely enraged. I mean, what’s the point of going to something like this when I had more important things to do– like study for my music midterm and register for my next semester classes. Why go to a workshop to hear monologues when I already heard plenty in class? Even though I was completely against it, I had gone for the sake of my grade because I didn’t want to risk potentially failing a class when this was one of the few assignments we had.

Well, after viewing it I now get why it was so essential to the class. I actually enjoyed the performance, something I thought was impossible in partial due to the mental association I make with anything being mandatory by school. The production was well made and well rehearsed– and so I’d like to give credit where it is due. The students did an excellent job in their performance and the effort contributed by each was illuminated. Each monologue chosen was so different from the following, but each was humorous and contained its own unique qualities that made it so special. There were some that were funny, some that were serious, and others that sounded like they could have been written by anyone. In any case, they were all enjoyable.
