1.    Sublime – Doin’ Time: This is my favorite song by Sublime. I like this song so much mainly because it reminds me of summer. It has a very easy going and laid back sound to it that I think represents my personality to a certain extent. Sublime is one of my favorite bands because of the way they mixed ska with punk rock so perfectly

2.    Kid Cudi – Soundtrack 2 My Life: The lyrics in this song get pretty deep and descriptive. I like it so much because he honestly and creatively portrays how he’s feeling without sacrificing the quality of the song. Some parts of this song I can certainly relate to in my own life.

3.    Joey Bada$$ – Hardknock: There are definitely times in my life where I take a moment to look at my goals and what I’ve been doing to reach them. Sometimes I realize that I need to change my attitude or behavior if I ever want to accomplish them. That’s what this song is all about – improving and growing in order to be who you really want to be.

4.    Kendrick Lamar – Rigamortis: This song is really lyrically impressive and just all around masterful. Without a doubt one of the best lyrically composed songs I’ve heard in a long time. I like this song because its very confident and I like to think that I can be a very confident person at times.

5.    DJ Khaled – They Ready: This is an upbeat song but at the same time has a classic kind of beat to it and isn’t too fast. Again, I like this song because it has a very confident vibe to it but at the same time has lyrical substance.

6.    Eminem – Till I Collapse: One of my all time favorite songs by one of my all time favorite rappers. This song really expresses the fact that no matter what life throws at you, you need to shake it off and keep going.

7.    Jack Johnson – Good People: This song relates to me mostly because of its lyrics. I can definitely relate to the fact that when you look at the news and other media outlets you hardly hear positive topics being discussed. I also like this song because its lighthearted and has a laid back vibe to it similar to my personality.

8.    Nas & Damian Marley – Strong Will Continue: This song is very motivational. It’s all about staying focused and not looking back. Despite whatever may be holding you back you need to stay strong and move forward.

9.    Red Hot Chili Peppers – Scar Tissue: This song is by another one of my favorite bands. I really like this song because of how well the guitar playing goes with the lyrics and the rest of the song. The title also does a great job of displaying the meaning of the song.

10.  50 Cent – If I Can’t: Another feel-good song that I like mostly for the catchy beat. The lyrics go really well with the beat and the tone of the song is hard not to like. 50 Cent is one of the best rappers of all time and this song really emphasizes that.
