My first semester was challenging for me. I didn’t know what to expect from Baruch or the college experience in general. But it’s much more stressful than I thought, in so many different ways. First, I’m separated from all of my friends as they moved on to all over the country to have fun and novelty experiences in prestigious universities, while I’m stuck in a decent school sleeping at home every night. It’s very annoying for me knowing that my friends are making serious growth, making friends, living alone and partying while I’m seeing my mom every night. Also, everything is a lot more serious in college. A lot more is on the line these next four years, and that can be pounding and stressful knowing that your future is in the balance. Also, being given mounds and mounds of work on a weekly basis is very tough to handle. It was similar in high school for me, but not to this degree. It’s just a lot of pressure, but I think I could adapt to this.
