Post 3: Memes

Create or find a photograph or some other image (a meme, an animated GIF, etc.) that represents in some way your experience at Baruch thus far. Embed your image in a blog post in which you reflect, in no more than 500 words, on your impressions of your first three months at Baruch. Your response should be personal and creative. If you use an image that you did not create yourself, be sure to credit the source with a name, if possible, and a URL!

At first i heard that it takes forever to get to a class in Baruch because of how crowded the school is, but it doesn’t seem to affect me that much. I really hate the fact the you have to get out of the VC building and cross the road in order to get to the library building. Why can’t they just built a bridge across the two buildings on one of the floors. Life would be much easier, in my opinion, or maybe I go to the library too often. Overall, Baruch is a great school to be in, because maybe it’s the professors who can teach and probably my classmates presents a friendly environment, but I don’t know how that will go in the future.

I never understood what it meant to be in college, but somehow I was still excited for my transitioning to college. During my first three months of college, I have learned to take more responsibility for my work and studies. I learned that it was not enough to just simply listen to class lectures, but that I had to further study on my own time. I began to understand what college meant, and utilized my time by using any break or free time to do my readings and homework. By doing so, I was able to make room for a personal life, outside of college, and deal with college life, more wisely and with less procrastination.

During the first three months at Baruch, I discovered that Baruch has a lot of workshops. So I signed up a lot of them, hoping to learn as much as possible outside of the classroom. My schedule was packed every day, and I had so much work to do every week. I rarely had time to procrastinate my work, and I was stressful. My cousin told me that the first year is the hardest. I hope he is right.

The introduction of college has completely changed how to manage my time. With the impending feelings of doom as deadlines approach, I had to abandon much of my usual tasks in order to finish. Overall it is a fun experience despite the quality of some professors, and I hope the odds will ever be in my favor.

I have to make decisions in college and I am indecisive so it is hard. Which club to join? Which event to go to? To do the reading or not? Do paper now or during my break? Whether or not to actually go to class? To stay awake in class or a quick nap? These are decisions I never would have considered in high school.

I come to realize that both the grading system and the workload expected of me is beyond what I imagined. Here is a meme in which describes my emotions regarding examinations given at Baruch.

I found myself procrastinating on a lot of my assignment. Before I know it I have 10 different things to do at the same time. Every Sunday night I promise myself that next weekend everything will be different but most of the time it is the same way. I did learn to manager time little bit better, but at the same time finding myself in a stressful situation during the math exam.

My sleep schedule in the first three months has changed due to my Baruch experience. Before attending Baruch I believed that I required more sleep in order to function, but now I’ve realized that I can sleep much less and still be as effective. Otherwise my experience at Baruch has been pretty excellent — I’ve been provided with all the tools I need to succeed in my classes and also to succeed in extra curricular activities.

Baruch is high school. Plain and simple. I wake up at the same time as i did for high school but the only difference is i get home much later. But the workload is a lot more dense and hard. A lot of the work is very tedious and annoying but it will all pay off in the end. atleast that is what i keep telling myself.

I was never used to having so many students in the same class room. it was kinda weird at first since you don’t get that much of the attention from the teacher. I think the professor doesn’t even know my name. But then i got use to it, and now i kind of enjoy it, i dont have to really pay full attention in class now since they dont really care for you individually.

Maybe it’s just me, but this semester was surprisingly easy. Hardly any homework to deal with which is what really screwed me in the past, professors who let me do my own thing, and to be perfectly honest easy as hell work. Granted I hit a snag or two with two of my classes, but on the whole I’m kind of let down by how easy this stuff really is.

At the beginning of Baruch, I thought I was on top of everything and that I was making good choices, but in the end I began to slack off a bit and things got overwhelming. In retrospect, I could have made better choices but I’m sure I’ll be fine. Sometimes you start things thinking it’s a good idea and find out that it wasn’t and you look like an idiot talking to a chair.

Growing up sucks, everyday I get new responsibilities and work. Can’t relax or slack off until my work is done.

At first I had a lot of free time and had nothing to do during my breaks but then my professors started assigning more work. I put them off because I thought I had a lot of time but soon my club activities began to take up all my time and now I’m sleep deprived. I pull many all nighters and rarely get a chance to get more than 4 hours of sleep.

In my search to find memes that depict all Baruch has made me feel I encountered a couple. They are basically the way I see my teachers, the way they teach, and the overall experience.

The work is not difficult. The time management is. It was difficult enough for me in high school, but now it is like: so much worse. I feel I’ve learned a few useful things I didn’t need, like in speech class, not as bad as I thought. Overall, a promising start to 4 years that I hope to continue to look forward to.
