New york cares post
I did a project called garden at Tompkins park. Me and other volunteers basely dig and plant something( I forget the name of it), raked the leaves. The leader was late because of a train delay. Finding a sun place to dig in very hard because I ran out of space to dig without planting other plants/seed or something like a seed close together ( the thing was too big to be called a seed). I was really hungry after 2 and half hours of hard work. there was other Baruch students. It was really hard to move a wagon fulled tools thought a crowd of people. the park was crowded by dog lover and dog dressed up for Halloween, so i had to be very careful and when it was time to leave the crowd stop me for like 2 minutes. People was taking pictures of cute dogs so the tariff stop here and there. its not fun to be in a crowd when you are hungry.

in my project i had to help blind people walk and even run through Central Park for exercisE. I was really surprised how capable the people were. i imagined sort of baby sitting them as they navigated through the park but no, they proved to be very capable. All in all I was very pleased with the experience

experience as a freshamn
I am struggling with a few classes as an international freshman in Baruch College. Even, I think it is a challenge for me but I still enjoy the first year in Baruch. I love my music class because the quiz is easy and I do need spend too much time on the quiz. I feel relaxed when I am talking the music. I also enjoy the history class because it is the first I study American history. Everything is new and interesting for me. I am looking forward to meeting other people.

I volunteered in Rockaway area where I helped the victims of hurricane Sandy. Our mission was to revitalize the garden that was devastated by the hurricane. I helped to pull out weeds and fertilize the soil. Even though it was raining at that time, I had fun. I felt like I was home since back in our country, we have this little farm where we plant vegetables and fruits.Overall, the project was amazing and learned some stuffs.

Volunteering project
I did not complete the volunteering through New York Cares, I instead volunteered at my old high school, The Brooklyn Latin School. When I started volunteering there I did not have many expectations. I thought that the teachers would just ask me to do things like make photocopies and hole punch things. I was wrong the teachers allowed me to function more as a teachers assistant by allowing me to help students during group work and work with students on their essays. This was great because I want to eventually become a teacher. I continue to volenteer there and I feel that the experience is great. I enjoy volunteering there.

I volunteered at a home for the visually impaired. My job was to help these people make jewelery. I thought this was really interesting because the people had a lot to say. One of the people I worked with talked about his life. I enjoyed helping out disabled people. It made me feel better inside. I would definitely do it again if I had the opportunity. Also it was good because the project was not that hard. I began to enjoy being around all the visually impaired people. They had some really creative stories and even though they couldn’t see they still made some pretty awesome jewelery.

My experience from New York Cares
To be honest, I started the project without much expectation. It was regarded more as an obligation than a good deed. And there was this hatred inside me that made me go against the volunteer work. Yet this all change as soon as I saw the little kids.
Prior to the project, I used to teach soccer to little children at my church. It was great, but it also caused a trauma towards little children. They were a reason of frustration for me, for they wouldn’t listen.
One by one, the children sat at their seats. To my disbelief, all of them behaved well and it was a different image than what I had expected. From that, my heart opened to these children and was joyful.
From that point on the volunteer work wasn’t an obligated work and time flew really quickly. After the work was done, I had a feeling in coming again. Overall, seeing these little kids reminded me of my childhood and I learned much through it.

New York Cares Project
This past Wednesday, October 30th, I volunteer for first time after a long time, and it was also my first time that I was volunteering in New York City. Honestly, volunteering is not something that I like to do but surprisingly for me, I had a very good time and I can say that I totally enjoyed it!!
My project was at Wall street, I was a bit late but thankfully there was no problem with it. What I did there was helping by doing mock interviews with people that they were previously in jail. I took the interview from only one guy because I had to spend time filling the evaluation form. Also I gave advices to this guy about his future and how he can improve himself in order to get a job and achieve his goals.
Personally, I found the project really interesting, more than I expected it to be. What I enjoyed more was the fact that I took job interviews, it felt like I was the boss and it felt much different than being the one who is getting interviewed. The experience was really nice, I am not exactly sure about how the guy who I interviewed felt, but It seemed to me that he was pretty calm and cool.
I am satisfied with what I did and I hope that I helped the guy to be more prepared for a real future job interview. I feel like I also gain from this project because I know now, how it feels to be the one who is interviewing.

We decided to speak for the issue of marijuana because it has become a growing presence in our everyday lives. We all known one friend or another that uses Marijuana and it’s important to note the change in attitude towards the drug.
We thought it was important to note the changing circumstances surrounding Marijuana as states are either decriminalizing the possession of the drug or approving the medical purposes of it. As these things change, we should note what this means for medical users, recreational users and even every day people.
