Gabriel Wayman- Slideshow
Who am I? I ask myself that question. As of now, I still discovering new thing about myself everyday. I am a hard-working person, I have passion for everything I do, and I have high standard to myself. Although I am not perfect, but I tried my best in everything. I become an independent person through my experience at the boarding school. Volunteering at the Tzu Chi Academy, at the Margaret Tietz nursing home, and at the school has been a precious experience in my life. Through volunteering, not only do I helping others, I myself have become a more mature and responsible person, which had shaped me into the person I am today. As I reflected on my past, I realize that as a person I was influenced and shaped by both pleasant and harsh experiences. I become stronger through the challenges that I faced. My family, my teachers and my friends are very important to me, because of them, I realized that I am a very lucky person.

As a friend, I am very reliable, especially during rough times in friendship. I like honest people, and for that reason, strongly emphasize honesty as one of my aspects. “Out-Checked” describes a girl who is there for a friend in pain, is honest, strong, and trustworthy. I find myself to fit those characteristics, along with an interest to “Live Like We’re Dying”. Often, I also take impulsive actions that are based on adrenaline and simply for “The Thrill” of it.
Like many people, I would love to become a “Billionaire” one day. Although I can only mentally visualize my dreams for now, I am certain that I will achieve my full potential and make my name known in the business field. The line “a different city every night” adds onto my personal self-interest due to my intended major of international marketing.
Going in hand with becoming a billionaire includes hard work and etiquette, which is portrayed in the lyrics of “Fly”. Besides representing women as strong individuals who can overcome obstacles struck at them, the females encourage endurance and perseverance. Although weak moments may arise, one must continue on because time does not stop for anyone.
“Coffee Tables” is from an artist who is humble and observes his surroundings constantly. I like to observe strangers and notice the details of each person. This habit of mine becomes very mindful of other people’s orders as well, which many find to be slightly peculiar. Light conversations with complete strangers in cafes are quite common, and lead me to wonder what their personal lives are full of, leading to the repeating line of “I thought I met you, I guess I haven’t yet”. This line not only reminds me to not judge a person by their appearance, but also to acknowledge that there is more to a person than their first conversation.
The chorus of “Motivation” reminds me of encouraging others to strive to fulfill their full potential in life. My motto “Work Hard, Play Hard” has motivated me throughout overwhelming moments, reminding me to complete my work before indulging in other events. At times, I may feel “hit by lightning” and “Starry-Eyed”, but I catch myself before I fall and regain consciousness of my goals and remain focused. I also view myself as someone who does not look back at the faded “Silhouettes” of the past much, since I have progressed much since then.

Blog 1: Songs That Illustrate My Life
1. Don’t You Worry Child -Swedish House Mafia
2. Rosalita – Bruce Springsteen
3. Dark Blue – Jack’s Mannequin
4. Fix You – Coldplay
5. Lost at Sea – Zedd
6. Safe and Sound – Taylor Swift
7. I’m Ready – Jack’s Mannequin
8. Con Te Partirò – Andrea Bocelli
9. The Mixed Tape – Jack’s Mannequin
10. The Reason – Hoobastank
The songs indicated above represent my life and what I stand for. These songs display honest emotion and are not just meaningless like many other songs on the radio. The song Don’t You Worry Child by Swedish House Mafia and Safe and Sound remind me of God and religion. These aspects are a huge part of my life. They allow me to go through life with comfort through the hard times and the good knowing that everything’s from God and for my ultimate benefit. The song Rosalita was an easy choice being that my name is Rosie and the song is about a girl named Rosie. My boyfriend actually showed me this song and we often discuss how we’d like to get married and so does Bruce. The song Lost at Sea is a metaphor to my life being that the singer is ready to take risks. This is easily relatable. I like to take chances and explore because if you don’t you’ll remain in the same place forever. The songs Dark Blue, I’m Ready and the Mixed Tape are all written by my favorite band group. Sadly, they broke up just a few months ago, and are now working on a new project that I am eager to hear about. The artist that wrote these songs, Andrew McMahon has suffered through a lot in his life. Andrew fought cancer from a very young age and got through it with the music he wrote for his project Jack’s Mannequin.
Hidden in all of his songs are small hints to his experience in the hospital as he was getting treated. The most relatable line in Andrew McMahon’s song Dark Blue is “have you ever been alone in a crowded room”. I have this feeling often, especially entering a new college. I feel this way because even though classroom may be full, they are not with the familiar faces I have seen in high school, but a bunch of strangers. The song I’m Ready represents everyday life. Andrew sings about how he doesn’t want to follow the “status quo”, but instead act on his own instincts and disregard everybody else’s opinions. I think this is a lesson we all must follow for our daily lives because if you just “go with the flow”, you will never be distinguishable and therefore you will never get anywhere in life. The very first line of the song The Reason by Hoobstank is my favorite of all of the meaningful lines contained in the song.
He writes, “I’m not a perfect person”. What I can take out of this song is the fact that although I would like to be perfect and avoid all mistakes, it is impossible to do so. Instead I try to take all of the mistakes and fallbacks I encounter on a daily basis and use them to my benefit and try to improve myself. The most important lesson is not to make the same mistake twice. You must focus and fix it. Lastly the song Fix You by Coldplay talks about moving forward. After the damage has been done you can only get better so I know I cant stay down, I must improve, move forward and accomplish.
I chose to make an 8 slide power point to demonstrate who I think I am. Through this process I found out that I don’t really know who I am yet, and hopefully transitioning myself from high school to college will allow me to discover this.
My first slide shows my three most common faces. One with my contacts on, one with my ridiculously large glasses, and lastly, the silly faces I make.
The second slide demonstrates how I spend most of my time. Whether its early 7 am tennis practice, late matches, tournaments, or coaching kids, I spend majority of my time with a racket in my hand.
I love eating anything, even cafeteria food. Here are some candid photos of me eating in the third slide.
I enjoy spending my free time giving back to the community. I volunteer at many non-profit organizations, register for walks, and donate whatever I can to people in need.
In the fifth slide are some of my proudest moments in my high school career. I became an active member of my high school national honor society board, was pronounced scholar athlete of the year, and was presented a scholarship from the Javits family.
The sixth slide is a tribute to my boyfriend who always puts up with me. And, in the last two slides I gave you a glimpse of moments that shows life is much funner when you step out of your comfort zone.
So as of now, I’m a hard working, self motivated individual, with an unpredictable side.
Below I Attached A link of songs that Would be found on my Music play list. These songs have meaning into who i am as a person.
Here are some of my interpretations of the following songs and how it applies to me
Heart Of Life- To me this song means that even though bad things happen to good people, Life Means well and to keep a good head on your shoulder – that is one of my mottos
Kryptonite- Is a song that shows one of my best qualities- i am always there for my friends. As Brad Arnold says “If I fall down, will you be there for me?” Because it’s easy to be there for someone when they’re down. But it’s not always easy to be there for somebody when they’re doing good”
A little Party Never killed Nobody- This is an obvious, Who Doesn’t like to have a good time.
I hope you enjoy listening to my playlist.

Hi everyone, my name is Zirui Ge, a freshman in Baruch College majoring in finance. As you may notice from my music playlist, I am a person with a wide range of hobbies. I love to wear suits, listen to classic musics, ride bicycle, enjoy operas and so on. But apparently, i cannot introduce all of these to you due to the 500 words limit. So I am going to start by telling you about finance. It is not only my favorite topic, but also a life time goal of mine.
When I was little, my father initiated his business as an investor with my uncle and started to build up experiences in the market. He encountered many obstacles within his career but he never gave up. I can still remember once when he was in serious debt, everyone around him told him to quit and sell out the shares before it became too late. My father didn’t listen to them. He insisted in following his path because deep down inside his heart, he knew that the situation would turn. That’s how he earned not only himself but the whole family a fortune which I am lucky to be supported by since. So when it comes to time when I need to decide which career I want to pick, I choose to follow his steps, to become the person who can make real differences with my bare hands, to become a veteran in finance.
Now, here I am, in Baruch College fighting for my dream. What about you?
Hey guys my name is David Sabbagh. I have created a 8 image slide show to show something about myself. i chose a picture of a surfer because i love to surf. One of the biggest influences on my life would be the lead singer of the band Nirvana. I spent most of my teenage years listening to Kurt Cobain’s lyrics; studying the meanings of his music, and understanding the message he is getting across. His vocals were unforgettable when I heard his hit song “Smells Like Teen Spirit” and I knew that there was something about his voice that set him apart from other bands. His music was at the hype of the 90’s introducing a new punk rock genre, grunge. For me I interpret Cobain’s lyrics as a person who is finding them self, much like myself. Most of the time I wonder about who I am as a person and the future ahead of me. With Cobain’s music I hear him crying out in his lyrics dealing with personal problems as I too suffer from the heartaches of this world. By listening to his music I feel disconnected with the world and engulfed by his lyrics, helping me to unwind and enjoy the gift of expression through his rhythms. Many of his songs have meaningful lyrics which show signs of love, hate, anger, care and much more. But a main aspect I take away from his music is care. I am the type of person who cares about others around me and goes out on a limb for a person I find trust worthy or worth my time. While growing up I cared for everyone around me, taking into account persons feelings and the background he or she is coming from. I see everyone as being equal in my eyes and try to make much of my friendships. Cobain taught me that life is short and anything could happen in the blink of an eye. I never want to say “what if, or “I could have”. This is the main reason I do not leave anything unturned; I go out and do whatever I set my mind to. No matter how hard a task is or the amount of time needed, I have no doubt that anything is not accomplishable.
I have to say much of my life has been based of what I learned in Cobain’s lyrics. For that I thank you Mr. Cobain; for if it were not due to your astonishing vocals and lyrics I may be a different person.
I have created a 8 image slide show to show something about myself. I chose a picture of a basketball because basketball is one of the sports that I like to play. I have a picture of a volleyball because I was on the volleyball team in high school. Although I didn’t play volleyball for a while, I actually miss those days when I was on the volleyball team. I have a picture of a laptop, a cell phone, and foods because I can’t live without these things. Without my and laptop and cell phone I would be so bored since that’s the only thing I use for entertainment when I’m home. I love foods. I’m one of those people that just eat for fun. I’m one of those people that likes to be alone and enjoy the peacefulness around me. Even when I’m in school or with other people, I tend to be the quiet one and just listen to other people. I also included a image that said movies because I love watching movies during my free times.
I was born in New York City in 1995. I have been living in New York City. Growing up in the city, I was a really curious person. Hence, I decided to watch more sports. In my neighborhood, everyone was talking about baseball. I had a decision to choose between the Mets and the Yankees. For some reason the Yankees always appealed to me more. As a diehard Yankees fan I hated the Red Sox. They felt like an inferior team to me. My second sport that i got into was basketball. I decided to be a New Jersey Nets fan. It was at a time when the New York Knicks were abysmal. The New Jersey Nets eventually moved to Brooklyn. Therefore, there was a new team in New York. Not only do I like to watch basketball, I like to play basketball a lot. In my senior year in high school I played basketball roughly five times a week. In a term my friend likes to use “Ball is life”. Other activities I like are surfing the web and playing computer games. I like going on social network websites. Furthermore, the other stuff I do in m spare time is listen to music. One of my favorite rappers is J. Cole. He recently came out with a new album that has been considered pretty good. Another genre of music I like is pop/rock. Maroon 5 has always been one of my favorite bands to listen to. In a different topic, I would describe myself as a person who doesn’t like to show up to an event late. I tend to come to an event a couple of minutes early. I realized that being early is much better than showing up late. Finally, I can’t live my life without my iPhone. I use it daily, and I bring it everywhere with me. It is one of the few thing that is crucial to my life. This is eight things about me.
Hey guys I decided to do a vid/slideshow to show a little more about me, here’s the link! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pWXv47WmTU

Hey guys, I’ve linked to a powerpoint slideshow that I made about myself. It by all means doesn’t define all of who I am, but I’ve listed some things that are important to me.
I chose to create an 8 image slide show to represent some things about myself. I chose the man measuring a piece of wood because I like to build things with my hands when I get the chance.
Although I love being in the Manhattan for school, it does become a bit over whelming sometimes, so I really enjoy being able to come back to a quiet house where I can do my homework, take a drive to the beach, and write some music.
I also included a photo of my favorite band the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They inspired me to write because they were different than all the other rock bands when I was younger. There’s also a picture of one of my idols, John Frusciante, who’s pushing a vintage strat to its limits.
Hey everybody, I have decided to show you what my highschool career was like. I am an alumna of the Young People’s Chorus of New York City and here is my Creative College Supplement that I sent to the schools last fall.
Hope you enjoy!
